This park is pretty big, or at least big where national parks located in Adelaide are concerned…read more Well, okay, there are much, much bigger ones than this around Australia, but growing up in Adelaide I would always look at the maps and think 'woah, this is pretty big'. Mind you, it probably isn't the best of parks to walk around, though there are some rather cool hikes, such as the one that takes you to the top of Mount Lofty. However, the thing that is really cool is the wildlife refuge that is located in the middle. Oh, and I should mention the Hills Face Zone - basically the park was initially designed so that the hills would actually be pleasant to look at, as opposed to being full of houses, or quarries (of which, unfortunately, there are some).

Overall, I love this park & all the free-roaming kangaroos.

Located amongst hills there is plenty of walking up and down and long grass areas to search for your ball. It summer it can get a little dry and hot, by in winter the grass is lovely and green and you can hear/see plenty of wildlife. The holes aren't too easy, but you can see the flag from almost every tee and can hit the green from every tee off. There is an honour box because it is sometimes not manned, but during daylight hours on busy days someone is there and the kiosk is open. Definately make the trip up here for something a little more interesting than a busy city par 3 full of amatuer kids :P

But Kenton Valley course is one of my favourites, after the lovely windy fast drive up there through the tea tree gully hills and around the reservoir, the course is just outside Gumeracha right next to a cherry and strawberry farm. The course is very green, quite hilly and has 9 holes you play twice, with a couple of other tee offs and a few extra greens, but mostly it's the same. The greens are quite well kept, there is heaps of wildlife to see and hear and plenty of obstacles like bridges, bunkers, rivers, trees, ridges etc to dodge. The pro shop is small with a couple of snacks, but the guy is really nice. He comes around sometimes, having a quick chat and asking if you would like a beer and encouraging your game. Very worthwhile to make the trip for a sunny afternoon of some quite golf with a nice surrounding.

Speaking of green, you'll recognise iHans by its big green frontage. Run by a Korean man, iHans is perfect for a mid-week afternoon putter. Or whatever you golfing types call it. Plus, there is fancy equipment so you can track the speed of your shot. If, like me, you have no idea how to golf, this is a good place to perfect your non-existent skills. Come with a trusted golfer - someone who won't tell your pals how crap you are - and train up. Its only six or so dollars for a hundred balls. No need to bring your own clubs - iHans will sort you out. For the rest of you - who might be struggling to see why you'd want to go to an indoor putting range - this is the perfect after work activity/'quirky' first date (vom)/ thing to do instead of going to the movies.

I usually play there at least once a week, for both the convenience of the location, the price, and the great customer service.

Me and my partner went here a few months a go to get new golf bags and a buggy because they had a sale on. It is a huge store, so we looked around in the bag area for around 10 minutes, but no one came over to help. We sort of got looked over, maybe because we were young and I am obviously female. But we needed some help with prices and styles so we had to go over to the counter to eventually get served. They were helpful enough when we got someone to look after us, but only answered the questions we asked and didn't really go any further. We ended up leaving with our bags and buggy, luckily they were cheap and their range is so big, because otherwise I probably wouldn't make the effort to go there. The other aspects of their store are good, with lots of golf clothing, shoes, tees, balls, clubs and other random accessories. They also have a practice net to test out the clubs you are buying.

Anywho, fancy smacking a little hard plastic ball around a stupidly big area and eventually getting at least one of your clubs stuck in a tree? Sounds like you are keen for a 'chucker' of Golf then! I admit, Golf is not a sport for The Scott! 'Frustration' is a close friend of mine and it often turns into my other close mate 'Psycopathic Fury' when ever I hit an 11 on the 3rd hole! But I do like the cool clubs and funky pants, which they stock in abundance at 'Drummond Golf' (Pete's).
