Love that. We don't live anywhere close to here but we loved it so much that we will make it a point to comeback and play at this park even if we are not near. Loved it that much. Bathroom and water fountain. Thank goodness for this Pavilion with picnic tables. I had my lunch and did a little writing there. Jungle gym with slides. The kids went bananas on these. There are two so the kids aren't piled on top of each other. Swings for kids and swings for babies are separate. Bryan Park is a community park popular with children and adults. You will find the adults on the tennis courts which also offers lessons while children flock to the recently updated shade covered playground. The new playground equipment is inclusive and ADA compliant. Another great feature of the park is the outdoor gym equipment where you can work out for free. Also in the park is the Bryan Park Community Center where they offer youth programs and camps. Munroe was born in a log cabin in Prairie-du-Chien, Wisconsin in 1850. One of his first adventures was to walk across the continent of North America. He went on to travel the world where he wrote stories based on his experiences. His career included newspaper reporting, editing, and authoring adventure books for boys. "Through Swamp and Glade" and "Flamingo Feather" are novels based on his experiences with the Seminole Indians in Florida. In 1866 Kirk Munroe settled in Coconut Grove with his wife. It was ten years prior to Miami being incorporated as a city. Although he still traveled, he always enjoyed returning to his home in Coconut Grove which he called Scrububs. Kirk was a noted member of the Florida Audubon Society and helped establish the Ransom Everglades School. While in the Grove, he and Ralph Munroe founded the Biscayne Bay Yacht Club in 1887 to celebrate Washington's birthday. Ralph donated the land that Kirk founded the Coconut Grove Library on. It was the first library in the state of Florida to own its building. Kirk Munroe passed away on June 16, 1930 at the age of 79, at a Florida sanitarium in Orlando. His funeral service was held at the Plymouth Congregational Church. Kirk Munroe Park is Miami's only tennis park. The park has five tennis courts and offers tennis programs for youth and adults. Other park amenities include bathrooms, picnic tables, a playground, and outdoor gym equipment. While primarily a tennis park, area residents also enjoy picnics here and taking their children to play. Changes may soon be in store for this park. Coral Gables-based Allen Morris Company is proposing a massive mixed-use project, Ziggurat, for the block where Coconut Grove Laundry & Cleaners now operates, between the park and Fuller Street. If it is approved they agreed to redesign Kirk Munroe Park with a new children's play area, café, new landscaping, and a complete refurbishment of the park's five tennis courts. Some Grove residents are worried that such a massive project with impact the bohemian charm of their historic neighborhood. It is something to keep an eye on.

Besides the courts, Kirk Munroe is a regular ol' park. It has a jungle gym, large grassy area (but dogs must be on a leash), and also fitness equipment for pull ups and the like. There are plenty of large trees to provide some shade, as well. Overall, it's an awesome center in the heart of Coconut Grove! Metered parking is found around the courts on Matilda St.

If you want to park somewhat near here you have to park in one of the surrounding neighborhoods and walk. The park has a nice calm area with a couple of benches for you to sit and take in the day. You will also find a water fountain there as well. There is also a small but nice playground area. It has a small jungle gym with slide, and a fake tree like thing. The equipment looks new and pretty well maintained. The ground is covered with the rubber matting that are popping up at new playgrounds and there are benches in the area for parent to sit. The area has child locks on the gates like they have at pools. Nice park. It is very clean and new, but not really easy accessible unless you live near by. Given the park's amenities, I would not recommend making this a destination park or even stopping by if you have to drive here. I would drive to a bigger, more accessible park.

The park is located right next to the Grapeland Water Park and behind a golf course. It is also close to MIA airport. The fitness trail is in need of some maintenance in certain areas and has old equipment along the route, but will get the job done. The trail circles the baseball complex. You will find some picnic tables on the perimeter near the front of the park between the parking lot and fitness trail that you can sit and eat or just kick back and relax. It is located off of a main drag so it is not very peaceful a spot. The playground, which is behind the recreation center is enclosed in a fence and has a very large jungle gym with a rock climbing wall, a bridge, and a couple of slides. There is a bench for parents to sit and watch there kids play. It looks like the equipment use to have a shade awning that covered it, but the frame is all that remains. The ground is lined with the rubbery mat material with a paved cement perimeter. The equipment is well maintained but limited. This park is decent. I would have probably given it a 3.5 if I could. The playground and baseball fields are top notch. But outside of that there is not much to offer.
