Ugh, this place gives me the creeps! I do not like it at all. I do not enjoy strolling here. It is crowded (as in CROWDED) and stressful. Besides all the smaller stores, Nordstan concists of two seperate department stores: Åhléns and Femman. Both three stories. Most people see Femman and Nordstan as one and the same. Yep, it has many great stores but most of them can be find somewhere else in the city. Åhléns is pretty good, but you can avoid the mall by entering close to the entrances from the street. I like the little papershop "Papetiere" where you can fins scrap booking items and lots of cute stuff. MacForum is second largest in Europe. Apart from short visits once in awhile, I avoid this place especially on Saturdays and in December. Lots of unpleasant people hanging here. Keep your wallet/purse tightly! I don't know why this mall gets such bad reviews. While the seafood market on the bottom floor is not the most ideal place for a smell like that, it is in fact a relatively large mall with a lot of great stores. It isn't exactly Stanford Shopping Center but then again, this is Gothenburg, Sweden. I was so happy to see it even has a Rituals; a place not available in the US! In all, if you're looking for an American style mall, this place will scratch that shopping itch for you. read more

The big mall in downtown, that's Nordstan. It's not big compared to US malls or some of the big ones in the rest of Europe, but for Sweden it's pretty big. It has 2 floors of shopping, from clothing, house hold good to cell phones and restaurants. Being that it is downtown right next to the train station it can get pretty crowded. But if it's a mall you're looking for, this is the only one you can get to by train/walking, while Forlunda is father away and can only be accessed by car/bus (but it is bigger). If you're visiting town, it's a cool place to walk through to get a local taste of Swedish culture. If you're looking to shop, well you may be a bit taken back by the higher prices here, while at the same time be surprised at the selections of items you can't get anywhere else. read more

The largest shopping centre I have been to in Scandinavia. Not huge by North American standard, but big enough and more importantly quite interesting. Highlights from my multiple trips: - all roads and seas led to Nordstan, this mall is directly connected to a train station, a large parking structure, and a ferry station via a foot bridge. How cool is that? - Department and Home & Kitchen stores carry a good selection of glassware and silverware. For the contemporary taste, Sweden is as good a shopping place as anywhere - a seafood market inside the mall! Check out Freskar Broderna - Have a tour of Systembolaget, Sweden's monopoly liquor retailer, nice selection here. - you can buy bulk candies (think licorice and chocolate in innumerable varieties) in many places...pressbyran convenient stores, the candy stand on the upper level that sells really long fruity twist in a rainbow of flavours. - tourist information centre provides maps and good advise - McDonald's is actually somewhat stylish. I am not motivated enough to eat there, but I couldn't help noticing how different it looks than the ones in Canada Worth a visit for sure. read more

It's like the only mall in Gothenburg. Not many stores and it is 2 floors. I prefer the shops in the square across the street as opposed to the ones here. read more
