Nordby Center bills itself as a family center, like a small town YMCA. It's connected to the middle school and the clients are mostly young kids or elderly folks. Throughout the building they are playing extremely vulgar, expletive ridden. I cant quote any of the lyrics without getting the comment deleted. Sitting on a work out machine between 70 year old women who could be anyone's grandmother, while a bunch of 12 year olds are coming in and out, I feel a bit uncomfortable hearing over the speakers about every other violent, vulgar thing you can imagine. I assumed the staff is unaware this is going on so after a few days of noticing it I politely mention it to one of the women who runs the place. She could not have been more rude, doesn't bother to look up from her desk, just snickers at me in a condescending dismissive way while claiming she cant hear it. Several days pass, now more confused than ever I have the chance to mention it to the other woman who runs the place who had been friendly with me prior. She blows up at me, just explodes with anger raising her voice and saying very mean things because apparently the other woman had complained I mentioned something about the inappropriate music days before and she had to protect the other woman some how from getting polite inquiries. Im pretty shocked and nicely mention shes welcome to cancel our membership if she has a problem with me and ill go to the other gym in town, at which point she threatens to call the other gym and put in a bad word so they wont let me or my girlfriend sign up. She eventually calms down a bit and apologies, back pedaling after I again insisted on my membership being canceled. She thought the songs might be a radio edit and that some how makes WAP an appropriate song for my family or the other 14 year old's wandering about, ive since used 'hey siri' on my phone to get the version of some of the songs and none have come up as radio edit and I can hear the context and words clear as day. I've waited two weeks or so since the last incident before writing this, giving them every chance to address this, but Cardi B sings on at the Nordby center to your grandma and kids about her awful expletive so here we are. I pay for two memberships here and would expect the slightest amount of customer service or at least basic politeness. I made a reasonable concern known and was treated reprehensibly for my trouble. I don't care at all what awful music they want to play, no music would be fine, some classical or smooth jazz, boomer rock, I don't care. If it was a bar or dance club for adults, no problem, but this seems irresponsible to subject children and old people to when you bill yourself as a family center. I hope they address this and start showing some basic manners, customer service to their cliental. They need better staff who treat members with respect read more
