This is a very good place to come for gifts, or to buy stuff for yourself, Allium stock brands and ranges that other stores do not or from international brands that would be risky to have delivered due to their fragile nature. The store merchandising is always fantastic though I suppose this is a give in considering it is owned by a designer. Allium is not just a store, they offer a free measure and quote service, in store interior and interior design consultations. So if you're looking for inspiration and staff with the knowledge to help you get the look you're after or don't yet know you are after, give Allium a visit.

Their prices are expensive but you don't come to Teed St for cheap shops so you do expect them. Allium also have a great online store where you can look at their product ranges as well as purchase.

They are the extroverts of furniture. Nothing quiet and meekish here. The huge beds in particular gave off a Bollywood or Hollywood flavour. I was looking at the dining suites out of personal interest and they did have a large selection, I admired, but that was all, bank balance doesn't quite allow for shopping here at the moment, another day. The website link on their business card doesn't actually include their location details in Henderson for some reason, but I can assure everyone reading this that it does exist, I was in there personally! (February 2013 to be exact!). On the website they mention two other store locations, New Lynn and lucky for those around Manakau, a Super Store even, corner of Cavendish Drive and Lambie Drive. I recommend at least having a browse in one of the stores when shopping for large furniture that will offer that extra touch of style.

Price wise, the range is from $6 for a Turkish water glass to $1,000 upwards for furniture. And if you're looking for a bigger commitment, the furniture is pretty much unique within Auckland. Buana Satu has changed a lot over the years. It's evolved from something more along the lines of The Third Eye, into a more upmarket, modern haven of unique art and homewares like rugs, bags, cushions, and crockery. When I last visited I was completely smitten with the little mermaid sculptures hanging on the wall - glittery, kitsch, and with little moko. So adorable. And surprisingly inexpensive. There are a lot of things with a slight kiwi bent available here, but they're definitely not souvenirs. They're much nicer than that. In sum, it's a kind of "I bought this for someone but on second thoughts I might just keep it for myself" haven.
