We've…read morebeen with the Duneland YMCA for almost 6 years (since we moved to the area), with our fourth child getting ready to start soon. It's great to know my children are being loved and cared for while I'm away at work - the teachers truly treat them as their own. My 3 year old loves going to "school" and seeing all her friends! Aside from updating books and educational toys, there have been many updates to the facility in the past few years including new paint and rearranging classrooms to improve functionality. The facility is clean and the teachers really take pride in their classrooms! My daughter is offered breakfast, hot lunch (contracted with Third Coast Spice in Chesterton) , and several healthy snacks everyday. The hours are also very convenient, opening at 5:45 am until 6:30 pm. Whether I have an early morning meeting or a late evening errand, I've got flexibility with childcare. In the summer they offer several field trips, get swimming lessons at the Y, take walks, visit the library, get to play at the new splash pad across the parking lot and the highlight of each week is when the Kona Ice truck comes! All year long the kids also get to learn about being healthy when the YMCA fitness instructors come over to "play" with them - doing yoga, dance and music in motion. They also do special events throughout the year, including donuts with dad, muffins with mom, a fall harvest bash for the entire community, a thanksgiving celebration and a Christmas program! One of the best parts about the Y...several of the teachers have been there since before we started going there. It builds a strong sense of security for both myself and my children knowing they will build long lasting relationships with and grow to love their teachers.

I was very apprehensive leaving my newborn at daycare especially right after I had to return after maternity leave, but the staff is very polite and professional and made me feel at ease. They keep me updated on the girls progress and things they need to work on. My baby is now walking at 9 months due to the staffs patients and working with her while we continue at home. There is an awesome summer program where my 4 year old gets to go swimming, play outside, walk to the library, and go on field trips. I would highly recommend this daycare to any parent.

I have never sent my child to daycare so I was very hesitant and nervous. I had my aunt come with me on every tour I went on, and we both agreed on so many things. Kinder care we both agreed felt the most comfortable, welcoming, and just more at home/down to earth. For the price you pay for child care we expect to be able to show something for it, whether it be excitement at the end of the day, or fun activities, anything really. And Kinder Care provides that. My child was nervous going to daycare as was I, this was a huge step for us both. He's 5 and I was waiting for the water works to start as soon as day 1 came. But to my surprise he was excited, I think the fact that they had some kind of activity everyday planned out got him interested. Not only that but as his parent I felt comfortable when they actually looked out for my child. Day 1 we walked into his age group and he was uncomfortable, wouldn't leave my side, didn't talk to anyone. The director Eryn came in after watching him and told me she thought he would be most comfortable in another classroom. I said whatever you think, we pulled him into a different age group and the difference just walking into the other classroom compared to the first was HUGE. He immediately sat down and started playing and he wasnt even nervous anymore. Its been a few weeks since we started our journey and I currently have nothing negative to say. He is so happy every time I pick him up, tells me all the stuff he is doing, and is getting some great interactions/making friends. I also want to add I love that everyone seems to recognize everyone. It didnt take long before staff just started knowing not only my child's name but putting my face to the child. I also have to give a special shout out to his teacher Miss Denise, he thinks she is the best! She has also been super helpful in being extra considerate when he may have a hard day here and there and not only do I appreciate it, but he does too. He said she really cares.

My daughter actually pulled my grandbaby out of this program a while back, and a big part of that was because the way the front office carries themselves I'll never forget the day I went in there to pick up my grandbaby. I had a simple question about the sign-out, and the way the lady from the office spoke to me... it was just demanding. It was not just being "busy" it was a "better-than-you" attitude that made me feel like a nuisance just for standing there. At my age, I've dealt with plenty of schools and programs, and I know when someone is looking down their nose at you. It's a shame because you're trusting these people with your heart and soul, but they act like giving you a respectful answer is doing you a favor. If the admins can't show a grandmother some basic professional respect, they probably can't show a grandbaby any respect either, you know what I'm saying?

My only regret is that we did not find it sooner. The staff and families are an amazing community so it should be no surprise that the kids who went to RA are amongst the top of their class in High School, College and life. Tremendous school that teaches your children to be independent thinkers and truly kind people.

We moved here from California last summer and had a very difficult time finding a space for our 3…read moreyear old son. He went to a church preschool/daycare at first because they were the only ones in town taking kids his age. I came into the church 3 times seeing 20 - 3 year olds with one student supervisor or teacher. I was not impressed and when asked about it the director said they were not required to follow the ratio laws for kids:adults in a room. I highly disagreed, so reluctantly we had to move our son out. We then used a really small childcare and the teacher was wonderful, but the 6 students were all different ages and our son was not enjoying playing with babies or older kids. My son cried every morning he had to go to school. It was a horrible nightmare for his dad and I. We had our oldest son in preschool in California for two years and it was always a constant battle with the directors. The teachers were constantly coming and going. So at this point our preschool experience hasn't been so great for both of our children. Finally!! Carey called and she had an opening. We moved our 3 year old son into her childcare in November 2018. We have never been so impressed. It is very clean. The teachers are amazing and my son has been moved into the 4 year old preschool class during this time. I have lowed all 4 of his teachers. When we come in we are greeted and when we leave there is always a goodbye. It is SIMPLE. I don't have to walk forever to get him to class, the parking is right in front of the door (helps a ton when you have other children in the car or in a carrier). My son loves to go to school and never had a hard time, even the very first day. After 3 months of him crying, this was a HUGE relief! Carey is wonderful, she has great teachers who have been there a while and or have bachelors to master's degrees in education. The tuition is standard and reasonable for a childcare of this size and cleanliness. There is no where else you will get care from 7am - 530pm with all their food included for $28.00 a day. Childcare is a hard bill to swallow for working parents, but $28.00 a day to know that you child is happy, fed, learning, and safe is WELL WORTH IT and way cheap. That's only $2.67 an hour! My child never comes home covered in food, crafts or has a gross face or nose. He is always very clean. This place is great and I would recommend getting on the waiting list as soon as you know you want to put your child in care or pregnant!

The Children's Center (TCC) has been perfect for my family and me. We started attending preschool…read moreclasses in February 2010 with my two oldest sons. They did not need to be potty-trained and TCC worked with us to accomplish that goal. In March 2010 we decided to enroll our then 3 month old in the infant room and TCC worked with my schedule so that everyday I could come and nurse him when I needed to. The Zoo-phonics used at TCC has helped advance both my older boys in their current school and at ages 5 and 6, they are working on reading to me at night! My 4 year old is still with TCC and I love the faith based stories they teach him. He asks many questions about God and prays at home before meals. They work on gifts for Mother's Day, Father's Day, Christmas and more in order to teach the children about giving rather than receiving and they have the best programs in the spring at graduation time. We have also just enrolled our newest family member into the infant room, another son who is now 3 months old and we are looking forward to all the wonderful things he will learn just like his brothers did at TCC.
