The Zodiac at Neiman Marcus offers continental fare at inflated prices for a restaurant of its class. (NM stands for "Needless Markup", ha-ha, get it?) While waiting for our entrees, we enjoyed their humongous (air-filled) signature popovers (is there a polite way of eating a popover?) with smooth sweet strawberry butter - worth experiencing. At one point, teacups with chicken broth were brought out. I've never been given soup in a tiny teacup before, have you? I had their Gemelli pasta, with sauteed shrimp, peas, and pancetta for 16.25. It was alright. Took 20 minutes to come out. During the meal, a model came in, advertising clothes that are available for purchase at Neiman Marcus. Servers Nancy and Jerald were accomodating. We ended the lunch with a sweet coconut sorbet.

I used to be a fan of this restaurant, but I was underwhelmed by my last visit. A classy little spot nestled inside Neiman Marcus, the menu is limited and the prices are (as expected) on the higher side. Your meal starts off with a fresh popover and strawberry butter spread. Next they serve palette-cleansing cups of broth, and finally comes your entree. I ordered the roasted tomato soup topped with lump crab meat - but the soup had an uncomfortable amount of heat to it, and was too spicy for me to eat even half of. ("Fire-roasted" often implies it will be hot - but "roasted" does not, so this was really unexpected.) My entree of fresh beer battered fish and chips with a house tartar sauce left MUCH to be desired. Both the fish and the sauce were flavorless. The rest of my company enjoyed their meal (they raved especially about the fresh chicken salad), and Zodiac still has some of my favorite strawberry lemonade. But given the price and an all-around unimpressive meal, I will probably opt for a different restaurant the next time I'm in the area.

The door behind me slammed shut, and the second door squeaked so loudly that I couldn't hear the host speaking to me. Not the best first impression. When we were about to be seated, the host initially placed us at a table. I politely asked if we could have a booth instead, and she looked visibly annoyed and said, "We don't have a booth set up," even though there were clearly open booths available. Our server also seemed annoyed and standoffish at first. I understand everyone can have a bad day, and she did eventually smile later on, but the initial interaction felt uncomfortable. As for the food: The avocado was very bland and we had to add salt. The Brussels sprouts were amazing (the highlight of the meal). My mother's chicken teriyaki was also bland. Our air-fried fries came out cold, though the server did replace them with a fresh batch. I've had good experiences here before, which is why this visit stood out in a negative way. You didn't hit the mark this time, True Food -- you might need some TRUE revisions.

Really great food in a cute spot…read more I will say that every time I've been here, service has been slow due to what seems like not enough staff for how popular this place is. It's certainly not the staff's fault and they've all been lovely, but it's been a significant wait every time we've come here. Moving to the food, it is phenomenal and why this place has a five star rating despite the above. The spinach artichoke dip and the tofu are both the best I've ever had at any restaurant ever. My husband got the steak sandwich and the bread was amazing and the steak was cooked perfectly as well. I got the curried cauliflower salad and the dressing was a bit too strong for me and unfortunately the salad was dressed very heavily. But the cauliflower was still cooked well. Despite the service situation, the food is so good that I will definitely be back.

Goat's Beard is one of my favorite spots in Wayne…read more Honestly, the only reason this isn't a 5 is that the entree portion sizes always feel a bit smaller than they should for the money. I don't know if they raised prices during COVID, shrank portions, or if it was always a little imbalanced. It's not even a financial thing, I'm just still hungry after eating an entree. Curiously, the desserts are huge. Like shared for the table huge. The Pickle Pizza is excellent, as is the Steak Mac & Cheese. The Pork Taco are also really good and could sub for an entree for a light eater. Anyway, this place is my go-to before a show at 118 North across the street. I've never been disappointed, I just end up spending more than planned.

Very classy organization…read more unlike most 5 star reviews, this one starts out with a problem. I came in to catch the end of the game. things weren't going well energy was low and the crowd wasn't into it. these things happen. ordered a beer got some wings and the wings came out cold. oh no, right? I hate complaining about mistakes. the bartender asked if everything was ok and I took a deep breath and let her know how my experience was going. Like I said I hate complaining, but I was immediately glad that I did. not only did she respond quickly, not only did everything get made right without much fuss, but the whole team came to to have her back. my issue was handled and I never felt awkward about it. what really made this a 5 star review was watching the staff come together to handle adversity. This is where professionalism meets reality. it's hard to have a complaint come up but I felt very much like I got taken care of as a person and not a number and that's rare in today's numbers oriented world. The wings were insanely crispy with good accoutrements. the beers were fresh and tasty and the whole attitude of the staff really changed my whole night.

But, portions are small...and appear to be shrinking (think - invisible price increase). Tonight, I ordered the seared salmon...which was a serving of vegetable...served with an infant-sized serving of salmon. I queried the manager...who ex that everything is weighed...and that my thinking was a matter of 'perception'. Needless to say, I was disappointed with both the salmon and the manager's 'rationalization.'

We stopped in here looking for a drink and hopefully some bar food. Wow! We got so much more!! The food was absolutely outstanding. Went here with a client last week and enjoyed it!…read more Ambiance and service were good; the food was great! We shared the Crispy Brussel Sprouts ($12 - Hoisin glaze, Sesame Seeds, Nori, Wasabi Mayonaise) and i think these may very be one of the best brussels I've ever had. Wow; they definitely blew me away and I am going to try to emulate the recipe at home. Both of us ordered the giant Wagyu Truffle Burger ($27 - Half-Pound Wagyu Beef Patty, Fontina Cheese, Crisp Prosciutto, "Frizzled" Onion Rings, Arugula, Truffle Aioli, Brioche Bun). This is a pricey burger but it was really good. Was it the best burger ever? Nah but I did enjoy it very much, however, I really couldn't taste too much truffle. You're definitely paying up for the Wagyu...I have had regular burgers that have been just as good as this Wagyu one but again, I did enjoy it. And it was huge and was packed with delicious stuff. Still, I'd even go as far as saying it was a standout burger compared to some others I have had. The rest of the items on the menu sounded appealing too. Prices were definitely comparable to where I'm from (L.A.) but this is suburban Philly so I don't know if they're high or not. Neat fact: The building dates back to 1746 and served historical figures during the American Revolution like George Washington, Marquis de Lafayette and Freiderick Wilhem Von Steuben. If you're in the area, I'd definitely recommend Black Powder Tavern.
