My son and I were able to get in the very next morning. My son needed the full treatment and when they checked my hair, they found 2 lice and 6 eggs. It was suggested I didn't need the full treatment as I was "infected" the night before checking my son. I appreciate the money saver. I have checked my hair several times since and am bug free. Before I began my rant I want to thank Jennifer for reassuring my daughter was calm and comfortable during the entire process! So Saturday was as any normal Saturday at my house. My daughter was invited to a hotel party and I was getting her ready. As I began to brush my daughter's thick hair I saw something crawling! omg I instantly became livid, hurt, baffled and wondering how did she get this?! I am a black Woman and it's quite rare that African Americans get lice even though my daughter is mixed I didn't expect her to get lice. However, I knew if I saw one big one I would see more. The treatment worked. But I was frustrated that they combed throughout kids head for 20 minutes and found nothing. It took me a second to find a nit and literally 5 seconds to find a louse. They have good intentions, good info and good equipment, but trust your parental skills. They sent me home with a kid with a head full of lice and I had to demand my way back in because they didn't believe they'd messed up. Too expensive to be mediocre. Can't say enough about this business. Was able to get an appointment when we wanted (unfortunately, there were 4 of us that needed to be checked and three were found "guilty" of lice). Ironically, my daughters heads were not nearly as bad as mine - go figure - and all three work with kids and I don't. The service was fantastic and very comfortable for a situation that usually isn't. The service doesn't come cheap - about $200 per person, and not always covered by insurance, but it's worth it to get it over with in one shot. I believe that this company is sneaky and they will charge you an astronomical amount of money. They will not even tell you how much it costs until you are done. Then you are stuck. There are many other companies you can use- even ones that come to your house- and they don't charge as much. My sister used a company and they only charged $125 for three people- and they came to her house! I feel that this company is not very upfront or honest and people cannot afford what they charge. This place is absolutely wonderful, and the staff are very, very kind . The Wheeling location is so nice, and going there saved my sanity and saved an ubelieveable amount of time, frustration and money. We have had these in years past, so I know what I'm talking about. The staff was just wonderful with my kids, reassuring them and making sure they had everything they could possibly want to do while they waited for their siblings (and Mom) - even an ipad offered to play with, making my son want to go back the next day. Carrie is a person who clearly wants to help other people and goes out of her way to do so. Here is the most impressive thing though. I went in expecting to spend a fortune. She only found two cases out of our family of 5, so she only suggested treating those two. A lot of people would captialize on your fear and suggest treating the other 3 just to be safe. She felt it was uncessary but said she would check in a week to make sure. I paid $300+ ,a complete bargain compared to professional nitpickers I have hired in the past. Note to the guy who said to just go to the drugstore and buy rid. Don't listen to him, or you will have an infestation!!!! One of the little boys in my child's class was treated by his Dad (a pediatrician) with Rid (he also had his head shaved). The child returned to school, and the nurse looked at his head under a magnifying glass and found live lice crawling all over his shaved head which I saw with my own disbelieving eyes. The same nurse checked my kids heads after Nit Free Noggins, finding absolutely nothing! As one author put it in an article online, "Lice laugh at the stuff at Walgreens." I just want to say this place is amazing. You set up a private appointment, and they get you in very quickly. They checked out me and my two daughters. One they didn't recommend the pricey treatment as she only had 3 nits found, and that saved us some money. My other daughter had a bad infestation and I know for a fact I could not handle that myself. I also had it from her, so we both got the full treatment. About 3 hours worth of work. Very child friendly, non toxic, and I left feeling so much relief. Jennifer was super friendly, calmed us all down, and I could not be happier. It is pricey but worth it. Wow, I can't thank this place enough. I was extremely freaked out as this was the first time we've experienced lice (my daughter had it), and were getting ready for a trip out of town for Spring Break. I live downtown - couldn't get in at downtown location - but Wheeling location was happy to stay open while I battled rush hour to get out there and get the situation taken care of. So I went into the Ashland location today because I found lice in my daughter's hair. The woman there checked her and confirmed the case and then checked me-and said she found lice on my hair too. I had second thoughts when she sent us home to wash and dry our hair before she started treatment, and called Hair Fairies on Clark. We went there instead. When the technician at Hair Fairies checked my head, thouroughly, there was no sign of lice. Phantom lice! I am wondering-did the lady here just pull out the only four nits in my hair and I was miraculously cured? or did she pull out a comb with four old nits on it and show them to me to get another treatment out of me? Anyway-I am so happy I went elsewhere, I liked the Hair Fairies much better. It is private-on a second floor walk up, the technicians are cool and there were 4 as opposed to the one bossy one at Nit Free Noggins. Also, they don't use that heat thing that pumps 130 degrees onto my kids head-which really freaked us both out. And-best of all they discovered that I had no lice and I didn't have to pay for 2 treatments, which would have cost me $400. Could having lice be fun?? Well, these ladies will have you rethinking the anxiety you have when your kid has lice. I took my daughter and my friend's daughter here after both of them were sent home from school yesterday. I wanted to be sure we didn't infect the other kids in the family and ensure that the kids were able to return to school the next day --which has never been possible when we do the pharmacy box treatment at home. Maybe it's just something about their "chair-side" manner. These ladies really make you feel like you're special, but that they've handled this a number of times. We tried a natural home kit for our daughter but wanted to make sure we got everything and also wanted to get the rest of the family checked. Jennifer was very thorough and honest about her findings. I never had lice as a kid and was a little inexperienced when dealing with lice, so I went to this place. For what they actually do, it seems very expensive. They basically blow dry and nit comb your hair. It takes about 45 minutes altogether and is close to $200/person, which you may not even be able to use flex spending to cover. In an obvious panic I found Nit Free Noggins in Wheeling. My daughter is in 2nd grade and has hair to her butt (she's also super sensitive when it comes to combing her hair) I was not messing around with OTC and at home remedies. I got in within hours and the process was pain free and took less then 2 hours. Other places were charging up to 4X what I paid and said there would be multiple visits. Just this one visit and all was gone. She could have even gone back to school the same day. While I waited I was offered internet access, refreshments, tv, even a vacuum so I could go vacuum the car seat and belts along with bags to bag everything up. I could not have hoped for a better experience and outcome. Hopefully I won't need them again but definitely recommend them to anybody that has to deal with Lice. Amazing service! Carrie is the owner and she worked with us. Our daughters had lice years ago and we spent hours upon hours washing, picking nits, etc... This summer, our younger daughter was exposed to a girl who caught lice at summer camp. We checked our daughter's hair and saw a few nits so we headed into Nit Free Noggins. We had combed the night before with some leftover nit-removing solution but wanted to be extra sure. Carrie could have recommended that we go through the whole process. Instead, she thoroughly checked our daughter and thought that she was okay. We definitely knew she had a couple of nits the night before but, after a thorough head check and comb through, Carrie recommended that we not pay for the full service (even though I was eager to do it). Instead, she sent us home with a $15 nit comb and a $15 head-check charge (Carrie easily spent half an hour or more with us). Wow!!! Now that is a business owner with high integrity. And if our daughter had lice, we like the Nit Free Noggins' program. The LouseBuster device (like a dryer) kills live bugs and lice and then they thoroughly eliminate all the remaining nits by hand. There is a single price for the entire service (including follow up visits if needed - though the goal is to have the initial visit be your only visit). You are not endlessly paying hour upon hour for the initial visit and subsequent checks and re-checks. There are a few other places that comb through the hair and try to get out as many nits as possible but we didn't like that the method does not kill the bugs or nits with something. Nit Free Noggins' process is pesticide free, kills the critters and is guaranteed. By the way, Nit Free Noggins' has an exclusive for the device in the Chicagoland area (one place told me that they decided not to use the device which, I found, was probably a false statement). Finally, Carrie stayed late for us as we couldn't get to her until later in the evening. Talk about customer service! Five stars! She knew we were stressed out and made accommodations to meet us. Finding lice causes an extreme amount of anxiety that Nit Free Noggins helped resolve. In the last year my child has contracted lice twice from middle school and unfortunately passed it on to my younger daughter and myself. This service is wonderful and I highly recommend it. They confirm there is lice by combing through your hair, then they use a relaxing heat treatment to kill live bugs AND nits (which OTC treatments do NOT do), next they comb through your hair with a conditioner/water solution to make it easy to pull out all dead bugs/nits, lastly they put an oil solution in your hair and send you home. They explain how the combing can miss dead nits and recommend combing through the hair again in the days to come. I purchased the comb and special scented shampoo and conditioner that I would also recommend. Their comb is the best I purchased and the products provide peace of mind that I am doing what I can to "prevent" additional infestations. While you wait during the treatment they provide cleaner, paper towels, and a vacuum for your car. The only downfall was that I was unable to use insurance but it was worth every penny. Cost is around $200 a head with discounts for multiple heads. This is a great service that solves the infestation instead of multiple treatments and chemicals.
