I love ALDI. I would be more of a regular here if I drive, but unfortunately it's not within…read morewalking distance to justify more frequent trips. However, whenever I make a visit I always end up leaving with a smile on my face. I'm a massively frugal person who doesn't like spending extra money on the same product, so when I walk out of ALDI with a week's worth of groceries for roundabout £10, I'm one happy camper. Atmosphere: The only major downside. The layout of ALDI is always a bit cramped, squeezed, and generally not the most pleasant of shopping experiences. Rather than the typical supermarket layouts of wide aisles and plenty of room to maneuver, you might find yourself twisting and turning your body to avoid the loads of other shoppers. Products: Another great thing about ALDI is that they always have a bunch of random international goodies hard to find in other supermarkets. Aside from that, even if you're fond of the familiar, they provide that as well. Meat prices are dirt cheap (a packet of chicken thighs went for a whole £4 cheaper than what I normally pay for at Morrison's!) with good quality cuts as well. Like I said, I always walk out with a massive haul and I've always spent pennies for it. The only bone I have to pick with ALDI is that unfortunately they haven't gotten on that online shopping / delivery bandwagon, which is disappointing because since this place is a bit far away from me. I would love to be a regular!

You have two choices in this immediate area for quick market essential needs: Sainsbury's Local or…read moreTesco Express located just nearly across the street. Personally, I'm a much bigger fan of the latter option, and here's why: 1. Because it's so high trafficked, this store is pretty dirty 2. The shelves always seem like they need to be stocked 3. It's a bizarre layout because it's such a small space 4. The queue here - as others have mentioned - is frustrating and confusing; who's actually in line?! It's hard to tell when it snakes down into the aisles Really, you'll find similar things at both places, so it's really just a matter of preference!

It's not exactly the first place you'd look for a Primark, a Lidl or a Wilkinsons (sadly, as I absolutely love a good Primark). But what should the less wealthy of us need a supermarket which isn't as elusive as Marks and Spencer and not as pricey as Waitrose? Sainsbury's local on Marmouth Street is a tiny supermarket which is an ideal one-stop shop for your basic essentials. The range of items on sale here is pretty limited, but when you're looking for reasonably priced goods like tea, coffee, bread and milk - this is the first place I head. And, because it's a Sainsbury's LOCAL the service is quick so there's no frustrating queues in sight.

It seems you are not interested in the elderly as there are loads of self serve checkouts, and they are all near the exit. I find there are not even many places to sit either while I wait for my husband to checkout at the other end of the shop. I feel you may not have considered any of what I have related to you, so thought I would tell you what many older folk have discussed and agreed with me. Mrs Ockwell

They do sometimes have some real good reduced price bargains around 23:00. The cafe also has some good bargains food wise which help fill the gap when you decide on an impromptu shopping session. The store itself is not the prettiest and can sometimes look quite scruffy, however being such a big store, it is understandable and ASDA offer cheaper shopping, they pull their customers back with the reduced prices. All in all this Walmart store has everything one could ever need under one roof. There are many roll back price bargains on offer all the time and generally their prices are cheaper than most of their competitors.
