Stopped in on a whim. The restaurant was very clean. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. The food was absolutely outstanding. The server answered all our questions and made sure the food would meet our spice level. Each dish we had was very flavorful and memorable. Was hoping for spectacular but got "ok". It's hard to find a really good Indian restaurant outside of Hicksville. We got bhel puri and samosa chat for appetizers and shared the chicken tikka masala. Expect an extremely long wait time for everything and I mean everything. Dirty utensils and plates, hair on our garlic naan. Didn't have a reservation, left my name and number for them to call me when table was available, table opened up in 20 mins and we came back. Upon arrival we were greeted and seated. We however did not get a menu at all for 20-25 mins. Then another 15-20 mins pass by before waiter checks on us if we're ready to order. We give them our order including 4 drinks. No drink or any updates for 20 mins and we had to ask not one but two staff for our drinks, 2 sodas & 2 mango lassi, shouldnt take 20-25 mins just to come out. So much ice in the mango lassi, seems ridiculous. Check your utensils and plates because all our utensils and plates were dirty with stains. After telling staff who barely spoke English this, she apologizes takes our plates and my utensils and gives me a new one still wrapped in the cloth, I knew immediately it would be dirty too because she did not check them herself. I was disgusted walked up to the front told them the utensils were dirty even after the swap, and asked for the plastic utensils. I've never had to use plastic utensils when dining in but there's a first for everything. We kept asking for updates on our food, 45 minutes pass by still no food. The table behind us that got seated after us got their food before us. Even the appetizer, garlic naan didn't even show up. Because of staff not being fluent in English, our concerns got passed around like hot potato. It was pretty frustrating considering we did not expect the extremely long wait from what others were saying from their experiences. When we finally got our food after an hour + of waiting, they were missing our garlic naan. This garlic naan took an extra 15-20 mins to come out, and we had to ask twice about the status of the naan. We started eating and one of us noticed that it had a piece of hair on it, we flagged it to the staff, she flagged it to our main server, and he came over apologized, took it back and said he'd replace it with a new one and will remove it off our bill. After we finished eating, our naan replacement still wasn't ready. They were quick to come over to take our plates though. The server came over and apologized for the hair in our naan and the slow service. I mentioned the dirty utensils and plates, and slow drinks is not an excuse though just because you just opened. Overall, unsatisfied with the speed of service. The food was good but never that good for me to wait that long for. Way too much ice in my mango lassi. The server did give us a discount on the bill for our disappointing experience there. However this was our experience and my honest review. If things change the next time I go I will update this with a hopefully better rating, but it will definitely be a while before we decide to return. read more

This is our fourth time here and Kabir provided excellent service and remembered us. The atmosphere is warm, cozy and nice decor and cultural music. My wife ordered Chicken Tikka Kabobs and Mushroom Tikka with an appetizer of Chili Paneer and I ordered Veg Biryani with Peshwiri Naan and House Special Nirvana Lamb Rogan Josh. The Paneer was so flavorful and full of vegetables. Everything was savory and the meats were tender and perfectly cooked. Beautiful presentation and even the Jasmine white rice tasted delicious. Come down and give them a try. You will be pleasantly surprised. read more

Nirvana is the best spot to eat in Huntington and the best Indian restaurant I have ever had!! My family used to eat at House of India since we were kids, and we were devastated when it closed and wondered where we would go for wonderful Indian cuisine. Thats when we learned Nirvana was taking its place. We were skeptical but of course we had to give it a try and we we IN! Nirvana somehow managed to improve on House of India and my families lives and stomachs are filled! If you are going make sure to get the Chicken Biryani, Sag Paneer, and Curry Lamb with an order of garlic naan and regular naan. Its our order every time! read more

The sizzling meat appetizers were flavorful and moist. Too many times these get dried out, but it was great. I really really wanted to like this place. House of India was amazing we never had a bad meal there. We ordered a month ago from the newly named "Nirvana" and the food is just so bland. Even medium spice was just tasteless. We ordered again tonight and my husband had to wait 45 mins after the pick up time for the food. We got the food home and again just tasteless. Even my 19 year old was looking around for something to put in the curry to make it taste anything. Nan bread was soggy the roasted eggplant tasted like wallpaper paste. Sorry two chances I'm done. Hicksville is worth the drive. So sad that House of India turned their business over to this standard of food. For what it's worth the inside of the restaurant is nicer. Omgoodness!!! I am so excited. My neighbor and I just dined at this new Indian restaurant, Nirvana, that just opened on Main Street in Huntington Village. The ambience is lovely and sedate without being stuffy.They completely renovated and remodeled the restaurant from what it was before. It's fresh and beautiful inside. Soft, soothing Indian music gently fills the air, beckoning you, leading with anticipation. The menu is wonderful and offers a large selection of choices for everyone's taste, including a substantial number of vegetarian items from which to choose which was a pleasant surprise. My neighbor, ordered Methi Matar Malai, (sorry, no photos) which is fenugreek leaves cooked with green peas in a textured curry sauce. The fragrant fenugreek leaves flavored the curry sauce beautifully. It was so delicious, she couldn't stop until every bit was gone. It was wonderful. I ordered Baingan Bharta, whuch was succulent eggplant, mashed with herbs and sautéed with onion. I never had eggplant taste so wonderful. It tasted like more. I can't wait to have it again. My neighbor ordered garlic naan. I ordered Za'atar naan, both of which were perfectly toasted and lightly charred to perfection. For the table came tender, and delicious rice along with raita yogurt sauce as perfect accompaniments. Often, eating out can be a disappointment. However, at Nirvana,each dish was so well-prepared and presented, it was a pleasure. Each bite was more delicious than the next. We concluded dinner by splitting a bowl of deliciously fragrant and gently sweetened Indian vanilla ice cream which was a perfect and refreshing way to end this most deliciously fragrant meal. In summary, the food, the service and ambiance were perfectly lovely. Thank you to everyone at Nirvana for a memorable and unforgettable experience. My wife and I went to Nirvana on Saturday night. We walked in and we were the only 2 people in the restaurant. We were there for about 50 to 60 minutes. Ordered an app, it came out the chicken was hard as a brick, they made it again for us, it took for ever. Then we waited for the main course, that took for ever, when it came out my lamb chops were so well done my wife's shrimp dish was cook to much also. We were very let down. The last 10 minutes we were there one other couple came in. We expressed our disappointment to the waiter, he did not show concern at all. He conveyed to us they were swamped with takeout orders. NO EXCUSE - YOU SHOULD TAKE CARE OF THE PEOPLE THAT MADE A EFFORT TO PATRONIZE YOUR ESTABLISHMENT. YOUR FIRST OBLIGATION IS TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR CUSTOMERS THAT ARE SITTING IN YOUR RESTAURANT. We were so happy to see Nirvana finally open where House of India had been. We've been there twice, and the food has been great, the staff has been attentive. Many of them are back from the House of India days and they are very welcoming to see us return. The Chicken Shag was delicious, as have been the variety of Naans. Got food for takeout and it looked absolutely nothing like the photos on yelp, or how it looks at the many other restaurants I've ordered these dishes from over the years. I guess it was a bad night, but the food was close to inedible (lamb vindaloo and chicken tikka masala). We had been customers at House of India on occasion and tried Nirvana for the first time recently. The ambiance is clearly updated and much nicer than HOI. The food was tasty and the menu is broader. The only issue was the cashier who seemed uncertain how to work the register properly and I think we may have been charged an extra credit card fee even though we paid with cash. read more

Obsessed. Just found the cutest new Indian spot Nirvana and it's already giving me my new comfort food fix. The tikka masala is creamy, flavorful, and honestly addictive. But the real star? The bread. Fresh out of the tandoori oven, warm, fluffy, and perfect for dipping. When I first went to Nirvana when it opened, it definitely needed work. The service was really slow and they definitely needed training. I've been back twice since and the service was vastly improved. The owner clearly wants this to succeed and is very enthusiastic. I am extremely picky about and critical of Indian food in the U.S. having been brought up in the UK. Nirvana totally passes the test from the food standpoint. The curries are made as hot as you like and full of flavor. The naan breads were excellent and I've had three different kinds. Outside of Hicksville, you'll be hard pressed to find better Indian food in Long Island. read more
