My boyfriend loves the name of this pub, so we decided to go in for an explore one rainy night in Johnstone.
The Nip Inn is the kind of old fashioned pub where locals take their cap off and put their feet up over a pint, but it doesn't make it any less charming. Some "old man" pubs like these can appear quite intimidating when you're not from the local community, but we didn't feel any hostility or cold, hard stares when we entered. The staff were busy getting on with their job and the locals were too immersed in papers or chatting to each other, so we didn't feel self conscious.
As far as booze choice goes, The Nip Inn has a better selection of beers and ales than the majority of pubs within a one mile radius. It was also cheap enough to keep me happy, and low key to keep me relaxed.
