Nilssen Bryggen is one of the oldest shops at Bryggen in Bergen. It is located on the pier, next to the Hanseatic Museum about five minutes walk from the famous but overpriced tourist trap worth missing fish market.
The store has remained at the same location since 1923 and is also known as the House of Yarn. They sell textiles, wool, embroidery and knitwear and souvenirs. In fact, they claim to have one of the largest embroidery divisions in Europe.
Their textile department has the reputation of having the best traditional and modern knitting from some of the best European manufacturers including Dale of Norway. So it was headgear, sweaters and socks for us.
These products really sell themselves because they are of exceptional quality high end and pitched at a truly exceptional prices.
The staff perform the service function of taking money from customers and bagging up purchases. We had the advantage of being able to get back 25% as a tax refund on departing Norway. read more
