In the middle of a field in the dark of the night, you find the Niles Scream Park. As you enter into the midway, you hear the screams of patrons as they are being chased by Freddie, a stalking killer clown, and other creepy creatures of your nightmares. Having been a patron for the last twenty plus years, it is great to see the upgrades to the houses and park every single year. This year the Main House is alive with haunts, dark passages, chainsaws, and the fear that someone is watching you at every moment. Having been to Universal Studios Florida's Halloween Horror Nights the weekend prior to this year's visit, we did not have high expectations. What this park lacks in the money that Universal has for their sets, they make it up by dark creepy mazes and scares in the least expected places. As someone who is only startled at Haunted Houses, I was startled much more in the three houses and even the Hayride then I was in the ten houses at universal. This place does not compare to any other Haunts I have been to and they pull it all off still being family friendly and a place I would feel comfortable bringing younger kids looking for a good scare.

Oh wow! I came here on a Saturday night right around 7:30 and bought a ticket to their haunted house. This was my first visit to a haunted house and it did not disappoint! There were twists and turns that keep me on my toes and more importantly kept me entertained. I didn't try the food but I did have an elephant ear which was yummy! (They ran out of funnel cake!) I stood in line for tickets and then to enter the haunted house, but I would encourage you to by the pass online and skip waiting in the long line!

We waited about a half an hour to get in which was not bad at all in my opinion. The longer wait promotes really good spacing and a well paced out experience inside so it's worth it! And the scare actors outside help immerse you in the experience early. For 15 dollars per person, this is so well worth it compared to other larger scale haunted houses in the area. The setting itself is so cool and you can tell they put a lot of work into it. We went in in groups of 8 which was a nice amount in my opinion. I don't scare easily so nothing really got me but that is not at all for lack of trying! There are multiple actors around every corner, cool lighting and interactive effects, and very awesome props for the actors. Caution there are a lot of strobe and flashing light elements if that's an issue for anyone. A lot of others in our group were scared throughout so I would say put yourself in the middle if you want the best experience! We will definitely come back next year and I am so happy that we have something like this in crown point for the season!

They offer activities all October on the weekends at various times. But night time I can imagine is the most fun. The ticket line was short but the line for the event was pretty long. It did move quick as we got there a bit earlier in the evening. Once you are through that line, you get on tractors that take you to the first spot. And then there's more waiting. Even though it was cold the staff did a great job, they were all in a great mood and festive. The corn maze was fun but not as scary as I expected and not too hard to navigate. I enjoyed the twisted path more, it was more scarier. The path is very well put together with each piece creating an awesome ambiance. Overall it was a great experience and worth doing again. There are a number of mini haunted houses along the route that you enter while walking on the trail. Definitely bring your boots because it gets very muddy. Please note: Their actors DO TOUCH YOU, which was unexpected. They will grab your legs, shoulders, etc. Besides that, we had a great time and have to say that this place beats Erebus any day. P.S. There is food (cash only) in the main barn- so grab a hot chocolate before waiting in the long line.

At the time, the building had a dual purpose to serve as the county jail and it housed the county sheriff. The reason for this setup was so the sheriff could keep an eye on his prisoners. The jailhouse was in operation for many decades. The latter part of its time, the jailhouse served as a county office up until the mid-80's when they moved their operations to modern facilities a block away. Today, the jailhouse lies dormant 11 months out of the year. Age and neglect has left this building in a deteriorated state. The current owner repurposed the jailhouse to operate once a year as a haunted house in October. You will find haunted house props strewn along the exterior but don't be fooled by the façade. Paranormal investigators have visited the space and they lay claim to believe ghostly activity lies within its confines. These investigators believe they are the ghosts of former inmates, most notably, the tortured soul of their notorious prisoner, Charles Butler. When we arrived, the building was closed for the season. From the outside, I was already getting a creepy vibe simply from taking these photos. I kid you not. I did feel a bit of the chills and I was at least 25 feet away from the entrance doors. Brave souls beware and prepare to be spooked!
