Bizarre is the word that springs to mind for this establishment! Friendly but bizarre. When I asked…read morethe owner the best way to describe his business, he said 'we are best known as the over the top shop'. That sums it up pretty perfectly. There's not many people that would want life sized Friesian cows but whilst walking my dog yesterday, what did I see in someones garden? You got it, a massive black and white fiberglass cow. There's also some really attractive mirrors for sale and also some pretty impressive garden furniture. Maybe the Michael Jackson and Elvis statues are mainly for shop-front eye catching purposes but either way, you won't find a more interesting and eccentric shop to have a good browse around in.

The Conservatory is an odd little shop situated in a residential part of Hove. However, its well…read moreworth while going out of your way to stop here, even if it's just to peruse some of the stranger items they have here. NEED a giant cow or life size Elvis statue for your garden? - this is the place to come! As well as the slightly more 'unique' items, The Conservatory does also stock a great array of treasures, if you just take the time to hunt them out. Vintage mirrors, one-of-a-kind pieces of furniture, lamps, and garden benches...you will find them all here. Even if you don't want to shop, it's worth popping by to browse and stroke the giant dog (real this time) that lives on the premises. They also sell seasonal goods - a huge selection of fireworks in November, and Christmas trees a-plenty in December. I have got my tree from here for the last couple of years and they have always been spectacular.

No one likes doing the supermarket shop. But if you have to do it, then why not do it here. Before…read morebeing taken over by Waitrose, this used to be a Co-op and it was a fairly depressing place to shop, but now it's a Waitrose it's become much more pleasant. The most enjoyable aspect of this shop is that it is reasonably quite. It's not full of hoards of people like Asda and Tesco. Obviously, the quality of the food is of a high standard although I do find that the fresh produce can go off quite quickly. It's a little more expensive than other supermarkets so I don't exclusively shop here, but bargains can also be found with the Waitrose Essentials range. There is a pharmacy, dry cleaners and two coffee shops on site, and if you register for a My Waitrose card you can get a free tea or coffee every time you shop, plus a free copy of the monthly magazine - who doesn't like a freebie?! Parking is generally easy and I even manage to get a parent and child space on most occasions. There are also plenty of trolleys so you don't need to go searching for one. It's the simple things! Another plus point of this store is that you can order from John Lewis and pick up here which is pretty handy to save on delivery costs.

I really love Waitrose... did I mention before that I love Waitrose? Probably…read more This is the newest Waitrose in the area, on the site of the old Co-Op supermarket on Neville Road in Hove. Spacious, wide aisles and courteous staff (or partners, as they like to be known) make Waitrose an all round pleasurable shopping experience. For me, anyway. Contrary to popular belief, Waitrose isn't snobby or expensive, just has some clever marketing. Sure, they do sell stuff that most people won't want or need (scented ironing water anyone?) But they get the basics right too. Like I said before, if it's good enough for the Queen then it's good enough for me!
