My family hired Nie Funeral Home to remove my brother's body from his home shortly after he passed away. Two guys from Nie came over to my bro's place and very casually grabbed his body and carried him out the door in their hands like they were mere garbagemen. They didn't say anything either. Just did their business and left. It was downright bizarre. They could have at least draped a sheet over him first. The whole scene was horrific to my parents. The two men showed no reverence or sensitivity to the situation. Nie's management should be ashamed. When someone hires a funeral home's services, they expect the staff to be respectful. I can't imagine the bereaved check Yelp for funeral home reviews, but I thought I would post anyway. Avoid this sordid business. read more

I was very surprised to read the 2 negative reviews of Nie Funeral Homes. They treated my family with great caring and total support after the tragic death of my sister in law and brother in law in a car accident. Ryan and Jean went beyond our expectations to handle the myriad of details after these sudden deaths. Their attention to detail and help with the large gathering was truly appreciated by the Tew and O'Connor families. They showed the utmost in respect and professionalism and I would highly recommend them to anyone read more

Our experience with the Nie Funeral Home on W. Liberty, Ann Arbor was very positive when my mother-in-law passed away after a long illness.

Terrible! So unprofessional. The slide show had photos of strangers in it including what looked like a mug shot of some random person. The three songs the family choose to share during the memorial sounded horrible, like they didn't know how to use the sound system. Digital Slide shows and playing music through a speaker system is NOT new technology. These are basic IT skills that all funeral homes should have mastered by now. Instead of alleviating some of the pain this young man's family was experiencing by providing a thoughtful well-done memorial honoring their son, brother & father, Nie's Funeral Home piled more layers of pain and frustration on them. Had a very disappointing experience with my sons Memorial Service. When we met with the Nie Funeral Home they told me they would care of everything and make it perfect for my son. I couldn't believe how untrue that ended up being. They had other peoples photos mixed in with our slideshow. Apparently they were other families that had services there. I had 3 songs picked out for the service and they could not figure out the audio while the songs were playing. Instead of just stoping the music (during the actual service) they kept trying to get the horrible sound system right. At that point they should have just stopped the music. This also continued for the other two songs. There was never any interaction from the staff to see if everything was going ok. The staff never refilled my sons memorial pamphlets. My 13 year old, who was grieving the loss of his brother, was doing it.There were so many people who never received them because they were in the office. I wanted this perfect for my son and I can't believe the amount of mistakes that happened. The sound system and slideshow should have been checked before the service began. We could have brought a speaker if we would have known there was a problem with theirs. I have contacted the GM and didn't get much from him. At a time of terrible grieving a family should not have to deal with this. They were very aware I was upset about this when I left that day and I never even received a phone call from them. I reached out to the GM days later and like I said......not sure he cared at all. read more

This was a very disappointing experience. The person assigned to help us was uncommunicative. It started out ok, then he simply stopped responding to either email or phone calls. He did not complete the tasks we had requested, specifically applying for inurnment in Arlington Cemetery. I eventually had to complete the application myself. This took several calls and a visit to the funeral home to get all the required documentation (some staff were helpful, others were confused). We were never notified when the death certificates were ready nor when the cremated remains were available for pick up. I sent an email expressing my concerns - the only response I received was a bill. Turns out the person we were dealing with was the manager! So you should not expect good service here, but you will definitely pay for it. There are other funeral homes in this area and I recommend going elsewhere. read more
