This is a hidden gem! I found La Cave de l'Ange Gardien (or Guardian Angles) on this site (trip…read moreadvisor) and yelp as "the #1 things to do in Beaune". I did not know what to expect, but so glad we did it!! I sure agree now, that this is the #1 thing to do in Beaune!! A passionate, knowledgeable, and welcoming husband and wife team introduces you to Burgundy wine, about the region, how to read wine labels, "how to taste Burgundy wines", and food paring. The blind tasting was super fun!! It was the most interesting, educational and fun, eye-opening experience. This is not your typical "wine tasting." I recommend you do this first (when you arrive in Burgundy). The knowledge you'll gain from this tasting experience will benefit the rest of your wine trip in Beaune and Burgundy. We bought a few bottles and they waived the tasting fees, but I believe its only about $10-15, for 3-hour class. (For the value, that's a super bargain!). Reservation is highly recommended. I believe the only way to make a reservation is to call them directly. They speak English so it was super easy and hassle-free to make an appointment by phone.

You also step into the private cellar of the Henriot family who now owns Buchard and they have wine from the 1800s! The explanation is great and it's definitely better to go with a buddy because they make you choose between different wine and having a buddy would allow you to taste it all.

La P'tite Cave is Fantastic!…read more We stopped in the Cave when in Beaune on vacation. We had read about this place on Trip Advisor and had to stop in. Five Star Evening!…read more It was a perfect evening in BEAUNE. June 21 was the longest day of the year and a cause for celebration in the city. Streets were shut down to traffic, bands were playing in nearly every square and we had a front row seat at this wine bar/Café. We were seated in the wine cellar, so it was a little cooler as well as a bit quieter than if we had been seated at an outside table. Let's start with a Wine. Their 50+ page wine list is outstanding. They were nine pages, just devoted to champagne and sparkling wine. What's more, our young server was more than qualified to help us with the list and to make recommendations. This was an anniversary celebration, so we began with champagne and charcuterie, and a couple of other starters. Later, we moved on to smaller sized mains that included salmon, chicken, and other delicious selections. Two chefs operating in about 2 m² did an impressive job of putting out food. We were able to linger over outstanding champagne and wines while having a wonderful light meal and a most wonderful evening. What a special celebration in Burgundy.

This is a wine bar first and the wine list is like 50 pages long. So, if wine is your jam, this is the spot. Not only that, they seem to educate their wait staff to advise, not upsell. The young woman who served us was probably 22-25 years old and really understood how to explain expectations for each The food. First off, the charcuterie platter was the best I have even tasted. The truffle egg dish was amazing with the most amount of truffles I have ever experienced.
Church lit for the celebration.
