The hostesses, bartenders, chefs, shuckers, servers--- absolutely everyone is phenomenal. The food totally matches right up. The entire evening was one beautiful highlight reel! We sat at the bar because we like to sit side by side since we're on the same team haha ,, and get to see all the kitchen action and what's up next on the docket going out. Highly recommend this option but the rest of the seating is gorgeous as well depending on the night you're after. You choose your own adventure- just make a reservation! What did we consume... started with the calamari with this delightful honey glaze drizzled on top, served with a garlic aioli that am not embarrassed to say would drink on its own. Next was the most delicious selection of a dozen of the freshest oysters ranging from local to up north, served with Serrano droplets and lemon droplets to dispense as we saw fit. YES. So you have "Southern Charm" fans here and we wanted to check out this spot because one of the girls on the show, this is her family restaurant. We walked up and we were debating to sit outside or not. The host was trying to get our attention and was wondering what we were doing. I get it, Covid, he absolutely refused to sit us together due to social distancing (which doesn't make sense if we are all together). he told us that we could have a couple seats on one side, a couple on another and then a couple inside. But literally said "it is strict policy and I will not seat you together." Fine. I think the host could have been a little more kinder. But oh well. Went for a birthday brunch. Overall good food and service was exceptional! My husband and I were each offered a complimentary glass of champagne for the birthday. The lobster roll was fresh and lightly dressed. The fondue that came with it was honestly the best thing we had. The croque de mer was also tasty. It was light and had a lot of flavor. We've dined here several times and love this place as well as the staff. We recently went to Bistronomy by Nico and also loved it! I'm super disappointed that someone would actually rate this place anything lower than 5 stars because they decided to have their staff wear masks for their safety. If you don't like it, go somewhere else but don't bash a restaurant that you even stated the food is good just because you don't like someone else wearing a mask. Also - they aren't making customers wear the mask so what is the issue? Service and food are always amazing here. They genuinely care if you are enjoying your experience. The food was good. Our waitstaff was great and very friendly. My major issue comes with their shady business practices and the fact they're towing cars that don't check in on their parking app correctly. After we paid 170.00 for dinner we were left to pay 250.00 to get my car from the tow yard in North Charleston! I will say Nick, the manager was very helpful and seemed remorseful. Especially after I told him I had a newborn at home and said newborns carseatbase was in the car that they had towed! Nick paid for my Uber to the tow yard. He was also able to get me a 20.00 discount on the tow. This, however, goes to show that they're receiving kickbacks from the tow company. We reserved via Resy for an indoor table. The Hostess seated us outside at a table with a strong cross breeze and we asked for a warmer location. The Asst Mgr, Sean, checked our reservation and apologized for the error, then seated us at a better, warmer table. Sean also checked on us mid-meal; he was a very personable gentleman and had Patrick, the waiter, give us a glass of champagne to apologize for the confusion on our table reservation. We started with a mixed dozen of raw oysters (Bekah's Bay, Single Ladies and Lowcountry Cup); we liked the Singie Ladies best. We then shared the escargot, which were EXCELLENT, hot, perfectly seasoned, and went well with the sliced baguette provided. My husband had the steak (perfect medium rare and tender cut) and frites (thin and crispy). Our boat captain had the seafood rigatoni (with shrimp, scallops, mushrooms, and cheese). I chose the cheese plate (with a medium density goat cheese, a lovely cheddar, a nice bleu and two others), served with tiny pickled veggies and lovely crisps. We opted to share the creme brûlée, as we'd noticed another table get theirs brûlée'd at the table. Nice touch and beautiful creamy consistency. Patrick provided excellent service, even anticipating things we needed. Overall, fresh and fabulously-prepared food, great prices, even a bust of Ludwig in the rest room. In summary, if you want a fraternity bar scene, huge slabs of beef, mediocre service, and a bill that will stun you, go to a chophouse downtown. My wife and came across this place as we were leaving Charleston. Glad we stopped in. The place has a cool vibe and excellent happy hour specials. Reservations are highly recommended as this place gets packed. The oysters are fresh and opened right there on the spot. Also, I didn't know until they explained it, they don't completely separate oyster from shell because that way it stays alive and you know it's fresh. If not, someone can bring you oysters they shucked a while ago. Jeopardy answer for your back pocket. The octopus was perfectly cooked. The mushrooms were ok, a little on the sweet side, but not bad. I went to place for my mother's birthday, and honestly it was so good. The chef is super nice, and came out to check on us after our meal. We received complimentary valet service. Thank goodness because it was raining!!!! Anyways, we ordered the baked oysters. They were hot and fresh but I think they could've done a little more like add some bread crumbs or something. Then I ordered the calamari and shrimp gnocchi, and it was sooooo good. I also snuck a bite of my mom's dish and all the sauces for the dishes were amazing! The sauces are so flavorful and perfect with some bread. A couple things I would love to see at this place would be some bread and butter to munch on while waiting and better happy hour prices. The scallop ceviche was an extremely small portion and was so oddly citrus you couldn't taste any seafood and the citrus did not have a particularly good taste. I felt compelled to do this because I have frequented Nico many times (6-7) now since moving to Charleston only 7 months ago from Denver. It is by far my favorite restaurant! Period. Last year we were forced to get takeout brunch for Mother's Day due to Covid but not this year. We made a reservation for the outside patio and the weather cooperated with a beautiful day. We were pleasantly surprised how good our meals were especially the seafood tower. That was one of the most creative seafood displays I have seen. My wife & I came to this restaurant solely because of the TV show Southern Charm. While walking into the restaurant, she saw three members of the cast and it made her night. But as for the restaurant, the review is as follows; PARKING- Small parking lot around the restaurant. Better off parking in the large parking garage a short distance away. MENU - The menu had a good amount of options. Not too big but not too small either. Great selection of oysters. FOOD/DRINKS - The drinks were a bit high especially their happy hour menu but it they were good. For appetizers, we ordered two dozen oysters and they were extremely fresh and tasted excellent. The waiter described some of them that were a bit off but it wasn't a big deal as we love all kinds of oysters. For dinner we had the Bouillabaisse de Marseille (fish, shrimp, mussels, clams bay scallops, aioli crouton) & Parisian Gnocchi (bay scallops, shrimp mushrooms, peas). I will say the Bouillabaisse de Marseille was extremely tiny. The portion for the price to me was high. To me it was an appetizer size and left me wanting more after eating. My wife had the Gnocchi which she loved and that was a good portion. For dessert we ordered a toasted marshmallow with vanilla ice cream thing. I forget exactly what they named it but it was simply to die for. The dessert is what made the restaurant go from 3 stars to 4. PRICES - The prices were a bit high for what it was. OVERALL -  I probably wouldn't rush to return to this restaurant. Would I go back? Yes but it wouldn't be on the list of highly recommended. The grilled Provencal oysters are my personal favorite but the Orchard's Point and the House Bekah's Bay oysters are great as well. This place is ridiculous. They require you to order everything all at one time because the kitchen is "too busy". They require a credit card to book (plenty of bookings), and if you say anything about how 99.9% of restaurants do not do this, they threaten to kick you out (also they don't tell you this until you order). It's high end fast food. How do you charge $40 an entree and act like a Wendy's. I feel sorry for the waitstaff, and I hate Yelp reviews, but don't waste your time at this "Southern Charm" tourist trap. There is better French food on the peninsula, trust me. We were celebrating our 30th anniversary and called to see if Nico had creme brulee and were told yes, they had it. 3 minutes later we arrived at Nico. They close at 10:00 PM, we arrived at the hostess station at 8:40 PM and said that we had called about the creme brulee and were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary. The hostess refused to seat us claiming they were in the midst of renovations, yet the restaurant was full of people eating and drinking. We said we only wanted desert and even said we are locals. We said we called and she said, "yes, I answered the phone"....she turned us away with complete indifference. She informed us the only option was to get the creme brulee to go. Excellent taste and presentation. Next 2 cheeseburgers with fries - BurgerKing in comparison would be considered a gourmet burger and not cost $16.00/order. 2 mixed drinks x 2 ($60.00/total). Total tab was 135.00+tip. Free parking. No credit card fee. Bartender/server was excellent + bonus points for being a real adult who knew basic conversation skills and attempts to please her customers. I don't get this trend of hiring children/teenagers to be the face and first representation of a restaurant establishment with whom a customer has first contact with its staff. Its actually a really important position in the restaurant if it is to be staffed correctly.
