I asked for and ordered black mulch. I was told that they understood what I wanted. Instead, they put down a dark brown mulch. Even when I saw it and directly asked "is that black mulch?", they said "yes". I figured, well ok... next year I will get the black. Then, without telling me they were done they left the property without seeing me. When I went out to inspect I noticed they did not complete the project either (about 2 yards short). That day I called to resolve this issue and then again the next morning with no return call. I always use local/small business-- but, I will never use Nickerson Residential & Commercial Services again! I have been a client of Nickerson for 7 years. Overall, their service has been good, although overpriced. This year, however, their service has gone straight downhill. Usually, they send out a form to fill out in late winter asking whether or not you would like lawn service for the coming season. This form was not sent out. No big deal. I called three weeks ago requesting weekly lawn service and a spring cleanup, leaving my name and phone number and stating that I was a repeat customer. Their voicemail states that they return all calls within 24 hours. I never heard from them. I waited two weeks, hoping they would show up (in past years, they have not returned my phone calls but have simply arrived to mow after I called). I called again two weeks later, stating that I was calling again and that the situation in my yard was becoming a bit dire and that I really needed someone to come out and mow. I asked for someone to please call me back. No one did. This is a company that does not respond to phone calls and does not seem to need or want anyone's business, even clients who have been loyal for 7 years. I would not waste your time attempting to do business with them. It is a shame, because they were once a reasonable, responsible, and responsive business. Unless you are prepared to wait weeks (or longer) for a response -- all the while watching your grass grow longer and longer -- Nickerson is not worth a phone call. read more
