I also had a very bad experience at this location. Josh was again involved because he's the owner. I never bought NB shoes before. This was my first experience. My feet began hurting and I tried to return the shoes after only 6 days. He does not want to give you your money back even though it says you can try the shoes for 30 days. I brought my shoes back to the store just 6 days after purchase and Josh said that he would like to give me a store credit. That isn't part of the policy. I called New Balance corporate and they also told me just like they said to Robyn (the other yelp reviewer about this same man Josh) that all stores are individually owned and they don't necessarily abide by the laws of NB. Even though they disagree with the way I was handled at this store, ( josh also owns the one on Dale Mabry where Robyn shopped. Avoid that one too.) Corporate NB only recommended that I shop on the NB website the next time to avoid this. Josh is desperate to get your money any way that he can. He is dishonest with a nice smile. He told me I should have worn the shoes around my house for the 30 days. He says he wears his shoes in his house and there at work. Who wears their new shoes in the house for 30 days! I bought my shoes to wear!I strongly recommend that you go to New Balance for your New Balance shoes. This store is bad news because they do steal your money. Just like Robyn in the other post said. They're more concerned about how much they can steal from you rather than customer satisfaction and handling customer service needs. Shoes that hurt should be able to be returned. 6 days later should not be a problem when the policy says 30 days. He offered a store credit and he told me I could just use it as a gift for someone... uh... Josh- you give someone a $172.00 NB gift! I don't think so. Do yourself a huge favor and shop at a place that actually honors their written policy! He then began to distance himself from the NB Brand saying he is not a NB store but rather he is called Next Step Athletics... that's funny... he had NB everywhere... even on the shirt he was wearing as well as his website. But now he is Next Step Athletics! That's convenient to lure people in under the Brand and then abandon the ethics of NB. He said if he returned the shoes, he would have to donate them. Great! Doing something nice for someone won't hurt you Josh. How about doing something nice for customers who keep you in business! read more

This location is in a mall and has a very small assortment of shoes. If you know they have what you want the staff were very friendly and helpful, but call before you waste your time coming down. This isn't a big outlet store. read more

Carlos at the Tampa (Westshore Mall location) provided expert help in helping me to select a pair of indoor court sneakers for Pickleball. His first recommendation, model 857 v2 court sneakers have provided excellent fit, comfort and support during play. I visited a half-dozen stores and tried several brands of sneakers that had an inconsistent fit, so I benefitted from visiting the store and trying on different models of sneakers to experience the fit and stability. This store stocks wide widths, which I needed to provide a good fit. Highly recommend this store and the helpful staff. read more

The customer service is lacking here. Out of all the stores I have been in, this store made me feel un-welcomed. Walking in, there was an employee sitting at their main hub either daydreaming or was staring into space. No greeting or whatsoever. I was fine with that in the beginning, since maybe he was "busy". Since the layout of the store is quite small, I was able to navigate myself to the women's minimus shoes by myself. What annoyed me was when no one came up to assist me, or asked if I needed help. I don't know, maybe new balance is the company which instructs their employees to not assist/welcome the customer and just give them the cold shoulder. I know they can multitask, as I saw the female employee helping out the only other customer (someone else not me) there while running towards the phone confirming a shoe or order. Out of my 24 years of life, this is the first time in a shoe store no one came up to ask me. I am not asking for Nordstrom customer service here. I stood at the minimus area holding a shoe for a timed 10 minutes and standing like a confused person needing help from an associate. I wanted to try it on as I was comparing it to the reebok nanos...they were not that busy either. You may ask, how come I don't go up to an associate and ask? I was about too after my timed 10 minutes, but as I turned around and saw the same guy at the main hub moved and sat on a chair just chatting with the other worker as if no customers were there, it annoyed me to the point to just walking out of the store and taking my business elsewhere. NB Tampa is small, but you can get a good deal if you know what your looking for. I have purchased 5 pairs of good running shorts for only $15-$20 each. Each of these shorts were originally price $40+, but they have sales all the time. If you happen to wear another brand like I do (Assic's) you can still find clothing and accessories like running shorts, t-shits, head bands, gloves, and socks. The store manager John is very knowledgeable and goes out to a lot of community runs and events helping runners get in a good pair of shoes. read more

The staff was very helpful in finding me a new pair of work shoes. My last pair from here were discontinued about a year ago and I have had a hard time locating a new pair. I told them my needs and my feet issues. The employee quickly showed me a few options and helped me narrow them down. They offered me additional items like shoe inserts and socks, but I was not requiring them at this time. The shoes were well priced, especially with my last pair lasting me a few years. Using my foot doctor I got an additional 10% off my shoes. I did have to go back because I needed to exchange the pair of shoes I got for a wider pair due to feet swelling. They did not have the exact pair but were willing to get it shipped in for me. I found another color that they had in stock that worked. They got me in and out quickly with my new pair of shoes. read more

Went in at 5:30 this evening. I knew exactly what I wanted to buy except that no one even greeted me. One guy was talking to his grandkids, another just sitting down. Again no one acknowledged me or asked if I needed help. There were at least three employees on duty. I was invisible. I left and no one noticed. My last experience, which was on Thanksgiving, was the best yet. The associate, Michael, fitted my mom for her first pair of NB running shoes. He was great. My fiance and I went here to get him shoes. The gentlemen who helped us was so nice and patience (my fiance can be a little pick when it comes to picking out sneakers). He made sure that we found the right shoe and it was the right size and fit for what he needed. I bought my daughter a pair of shoes for Christmas, she was pregnant & very swollen so wasn't able to get her foot into the shoe until after she gave birth which was just a week ago, the shoes still didn't fit properly so I had to return them. I called this store because I had ordered running shoes online at New Balance. The shoes were too wide so I called to inquire about exchanging them at thus store. Both my husband ans I are runners and wear New Balance. I did not know that there was a New Balance store in Tampa. The woman I talked to was quite rude and kept interrupting me as I was trying to talk to her. She asked me the color of the shoe I told her what the color was and she was apparently asking for a color code. I don't sell shoes so was unaware of a color code. She was rude about that too. I ended up hanging up the phone as I was not going to do business with her. The store lost future sales. I will not shop at that store. She also told me she is not affiliated with New Balance online store. They are fortunate that the store is not. read more

Let me start by saying I'm a runner and as runner we are really picky with the kind of shoes we like to wear. I was a Nike guy before I started wearing New Balance and was skeptical of trying something new. Their employees helped me tremendously. They fitted and took care of me. I currently run in the M1080 v6 and do my workouts in the M1400 v4. The new Pace v2 feel really good as well. They are very knowledgeable as well.
