Overall it's a good and educational experience. We enjoy visiting and we all learn something new with each visit.

Jasper County is named for Revolutionary War hero William Jasper. The city of Joplin is split…read moreacross Jasper and Newton counties because the city grew out of two separate mining settlements that developed on opposite sides of Joplin Creek in the early 1870s. When those settlements merged in 1873 to form Joplin, the new city naturally extended across the county line, and its boundaries have remained that way ever since. Jasper County's county seat and the main courthouse is in Carthage and it's worth a visit for classic old-school design. But as the county grew and as Joplin became a larger municipal presence in the county, it was felt that an annex closer to that population was needed. This courthouse in Joplin's city center is the annex, serving the Jasper County side and is a two-story steel, glass and concrete structure. It is modern and practical and utilitarian. The building's east wing features tall pillars supporting a broad flat roof, with blue-tinted glass that creates a sleek, civic presence. The west wing is defined by long, narrow windows and a clean roofline, emphasizing simplicity and openness. There is plenty of parking nearby. [Review 1489 of 2025 - 472 in Missouri - 25042 overall]

Very nice people and easy to get to. The hours are short and of course they take all holidays,…read moreeven the not so real holidays off. I went to send something that wasn't real big but had some weight to it (BBQ Sauce). I was going to use the " if it fits it ships " for one price. The guy working ask if he could weigh it. I said sure. After weighing it he told me he had several boxes and packing if I would rather ship it that way and save some money over the flat fee shipping. He got it ready for me and everything. I just did the send to label and double checked it after he printed it out. It cost almost one third of what I had just expected to pay with the other. He arranged for me to play my first concert in the city and it seems like the whole town showed up. Afterwards I spent part of the night canoodling with a beautiful spectacular girl who I still think about to this day. It was one of those magical nights and I have never forgotten it. Not long after my visit my friend passed away. It's very confusing and complicated but it was ruled a suicide. It was pretty grisly and horrible. I still have good friends that live here but there is a shadow over the town and my heart ever since. Then a couple of months later a devastating tornado wiped out a huge portion of the town and caused many casualties. There will always be a special place in my heart for Joplin and someday I look forward to my return.
