***UPDATE: Cheer Dental contacted me the next day. Although I missed their call, they left a…read morevoicemail and confirmed that the call was from their back office, not a scam. I appreciate that they investigated. Unfortunately, when I initially called to verify the situation, I was clearly and definitively told that the call was not from them and that my appointment was not on their calendar. Based on that, I spent much of the day worried that my information had been compromised and contacting my insurance. I had a decent experience here previously and had even recommended the office to someone else. I hope they improve communication between their front and back office to prevent this kind of confusion in the future.*** I booked an appointment online with Cheer Dental. The next day, I received a text claiming to be from Cheer Dental that advertised a promotion and included the website, office phone number, and office address, making it appear legitimate. Since I had already scheduled online, I called the office directly. The office confirmed my appointment and instructed me to text a photo of my insurance card before my visit. Because I already had what appeared to be an active text conversation with Cheer Dental, I sent my insurance card through that thread. The following morning, before the office had opened, I received a call from someone claiming to be associated with Cheer Dental. They asked to confirm my appointment details and asked for my date of birth. Later that day, I called the office directly and was told the call had not come from them and the appointment was not on their calendar. Because the suspicious communication began immediately after I submitted my information through Cheer Dental's website, I am concerned that my contact information may have been exposed or misused. I cannot confirm how the caller obtained it, but I believe the office should investigate whether its website, booking vendors, or communication systems were compromised. I am not accusing the office or its staff of being responsible for the impersonation. My concern is how the situation was handled after I informed them. The response focused on explaining that the call was not from their office, but I did not get the impression that there was much interest in investigating how someone was able to impersonate the practice and obtain patient information. I also think the office should reconsider requesting insurance cards through standard text messaging. When patients are already communicating through a text thread that appears to be from the office, it becomes much easier for scammers to convince patients that additional requests for personal information are legitimate. I hope the office investigates what happened, reviews its communication practices, and takes steps to reduce the risk of this happening to other patients.

A fantastic dentist with tremendous supporting staff…read more I hadn't been to the dentist in a long time. Lots of excuses why but as more time went on, the less exciting the prospect became. Being relatively new to San Jose, I found Cheer Dental through reviews and their proximity to my house. I was really impressed with Kate who helped with scheduling, helpful reminders and most importantly, was very helpful in ensuring we used our insurance effectively (primary + supplemental). Now on to the visit - Dr. Priya is very friendly and I was immediately aware that I was in good hands. She was extremely thorough and also transparent with what was going on inside my mouth. She was able to answer all of my questions and made the experience as pleasant as it could be. Overall, I am extremely impressed with this entire office and I feel lucky to have found a dentist I can trust that is also clearly an expert in their field.

They try their best to answer all my questions. It's easy to book an appointment and they try to get you an appointment at the best time possible. The environment there is very nice and clean. It is located in an Asian plaza, easy to find! I think most of the staff and the dentist speak Cantonese and Mandarin also. I would definitely recommend this office! Their dentist will take very good care of your teeth. Healthy teeth, happy you!

My wife's horrible experience My wife wanted to get a…read morecosmetic procedure on her teeth for many years but we couldn't afford it. We started to save for a very long time. When Covid came she ended up not being able to work so we figured now is the best time since she would need a lot of rest. We went through the first procedure to have bone graph put in by another doctor. After 6 months of that healing we scheduled an appt with Dr. Howard Lien to have the posts put in . During day of surgery we came in and they sedated her and put in 6 posts into her upper jaw. Our follow up appointment was 1 month later during that appt he put more stitches in and said she needed a deep cleaning . Follow up appt after follow up appt each time adding more stitches and more deep cleaning. Over the 6 months of stitches my wife couldn't stand the taste in her mouth. On our 5th appt he wanted to install the teeth which we had a very bad feeling since it didn't look right. We got a second opinion and that dentist said it was the worst he's ever seen and Dr lein put to many posts in to close to each other and didn't put them deep enough. They were suppose to be 90 percent or more and he was at 70 to 80 percent. The taste my wife was tasting is the dead bone in her jaw. He spoke up about malpractice and said we would have to do everything all over. We went to 3 other specialists with every one saying the same. When we reached back out to Dr Lein to tell him and he said I will refund you the money and that he was sorry. How can you keep adding stitches and want to install the teeth if you knew it was messed up ?!?! I asked him what about the $8000.00 we had to pay for the bone surgery and he said NO since we didn't pay him for the bone graph. He completely damaged the bone graph that the previous surgeon did perfect. My wife's gums are damaged for life now and we have another year and half to two to get them to where she can have teeth with a look that was worse then when she first started. This has been a complete BOTCHED nightmare!! If you are in the market for a dentist please stay miles away from this place as Dr Lein should be banned from practicing and traumatizing patients.

We initially found New-Tech Dental Care because my father-in-law was looking for a dentist who…read morespeaks Mandarin. We found Dr. Alan Lee who practices at New-Tech, and my father-in-law was very pleased with his good manners and professionalism. Now fast forward to my own experience with New-Tech: My family hasn't had dental health insurance for a few years now, so I've been neglecting my dental care. Yes, it's been three or four years at least since I had a dental visit. No cleanings during all that time. Since my father-in-law thought so highly of Dr. Lee, I decided to book an appointment. And what an adventure that started! I have seen Dr. Lee four times in these last two months. The initial visit was for a routine cleaning and examination, at which point we discovered a cavity and a chipped/fractured tooth. During our discussion, Dr. Lee also recommended taking out the wisdom teeth. My previous dentist (whom I haven't seen for so long that he ended up retiring, but that's another story) had been suggesting that I remove my wisdom teeth, and all that time the reasoning was simply "because I should do it." That's not a good enough reason, especially because my wisdom teeth had grown in very nice and straight and hadn't bothered me at all in all these years, so I never had my wisdom teeth extracted. Dr. Lee explained to me that the wisdom teeth are very hard to clean well, and difficult to reach for flossing, and so years later, could lead to dental health problems. His suggestion was that I remove the teeth now, while I am still relatively young, to avoid problems down the line. He didn't pressure me, but suggested I think it over. At the end of that first appointment, I discussed with Stephanie the receptionist about pricing, and mentioned that I don't have dental insurance. She quoted a very good discounted rate for the extractions, and I went ahead and booked the procedures. If you've ever had your teeth pulled, you'll know that it's not a pleasant experience. But on my two subsequent visits to extract my wisdom teeth, Dr. Lee was very careful in explaining what he was doing each step of the way. He was very careful in administering the shots for the anesthesia, and coached me on how to breathe to minimize the discomfort/pain of the shot, and partly to distract me from thinking about it. Talk about good bedside manners!! I hate shots, but his coaching made these tolerable. The extraction itself is quite a wild ride. I am fortunate in how my teeth grew in, so no surgery was required, but you can imagine it takes quite a bit of force to pull these teeth out. Dr. Lee was firm in his pulling, but very careful to ensure that I was comfortable at all times. Everything went smoothly in both visits for the extraction. Dr. Lee was also very detailed in covering what I need to do in the days following extraction to care for the wounds and prevent infection. I followed his directions, and everything healed up nicely. Stephanie called after both extractions to follow up and make sure everything was going well, that I wasn't experiencing any discomfort. I was glad to know that the office cared about how I was doing. So here I am, four visits later, a very happy dental patient, hoping I don't have to go back for a while, but when I do need dental care again, I'm glad that Dr. Lee at New-Tech will be there.
