I was in a very abusive relationship and felt completely trapped. I was lost. I had seen so many therapists over the years, been in and out of hospitals, treatment programs, outpatient programs... you name it. Nothing ever stuck. Nobody ever made me feel safe enough to actually talk until Tara. Tara is the first therapist who didn't talk to me like she was reading from a textbook. She talks to you like a real person, and she actually cares about her patients as individuals. She's incredibly intelligent, understanding, down-to-earth, and she never once made me feel judged, crazy, or too much. She understands that you're human and you're going to mess up sometimes, but she never gives up on you. Not once. Tara treated my PTSD with EMDR, and that completely changed everything for me. My symptoms, my outlook, my entire relationship with my trauma. If it wasn't for her, I genuinely don't know where I would be. She helped me unlock things I was never able to face before. She helped me break patterns I thought were permanent. She helped me reconnect with myself in ways I didn't even know were possible. One thing I've always said is that Tara never abandoned me. Not emotionally, not clinically, not when things were bad. Through every setback, every panic attack, every relapse into old thought patterns, she guided me back. She works as a team with my psychiatrist, she finds extra resources when I need them, she stays involved, and she actually shows up for her patients. That's so rare. And now, because of her, I can honestly say something I never thought I'd be able to say in my life: I'm stable. I have a full-time job. I own my home. I'm getting married next year. I have an amazing group of friends And I'm a proud cat mom. These might sound like simple things to some people, but for me , someone who spent years suicidal, hospitalized, over-medicated, under-medicated, traumatized, and completely defeated these are miracles. And Tara helped me get every single one of them. I owe her everything. And I would recommend her to absolutely anyone, whether you're struggling with something huge or something smaller. She will meet you exactly where you are and guide you to a place you didn't think you could reach. She did it for me, and I know she can do it for others too.

Needless to say, I've recently been through so many personal issues lately that even the most staunch opponent of therapy would have told me to go see someone. The therapist I picked also had to take our insurance & be the right personality type for me. Ann is awesome. In fact, she actually works with creative people which was a plus for me (that mindset is something you either get or you don't). She will offer you guidance and insight without being condescending or judgmental. The vibe is extremely relaxed and open. I have definitely felt like she understood and empathized with my situation. I would recommend her to any of my creative peers or someone who's simply looking for a non-judgmental but truthful therapist who won't impose religious dogma on you.

It was an interesting phase in my life, and I needed to gain some wisdom and guidance from a professional to help me sort it all out. I randomly selected Ann's name from a directory, and I'm so glad I did. She was extremely insightful, and offered great perspectives on my situation through her own experiences. I truly felt as if she understood what I was going through, and not just reciting stuff from a textbook. She is so personable and very real. Every week, I felt as if I was meeting with a friend, or talking to an aunty. I'm in no longer in need of a therapist, and I ended up eventually leaving New York, but she helped me more than anyone ever has, and I miss seeing her every week. If you are looking for a therapist who is compassionate, and won't sugar coat things for you, but will strive to help you, then go see Ann.
