Parking lot is small and tight, so for event specials get there early...leave valuables at home, it's a sketchy area. Ambiance/cleanliness....it is a dive bar saloon with padded benches/heavy picnic tables in the back and no a/c. Concrete walls and dim lighting. The paper napkin dispenser had. wet napkins. 2 stars Service-Outstanding. They split drinks/food duties between 2 servers. Keri(sp??) was our drink server and was helpful, checked in and on point. Didn't catch the name of the food server, but she was also great. Really doing a great job out there...5 stars Food-We went on Thursday Steak Special Night. 26 oz Porterhouse, baked potato, cowboy beans, salad bar and a roll. One of our party got the ribeye, ordered medium and it was medium well..they made it right. The food was in the 20 dollar range and it tasted it...but was a solid value. Steak flavor was enjoyably grilled, decent chew...nothing bad...just not memorable...potato was decent, cowboy beans were delicious...due to the outstanding value...4 stars. Even though I gave 4 stars and Nevada Smith's earned it...due to location, no a/c and basic quality of food....probably would not go back.

A classic old Tucson experience. The steaks are good, cooked on a mesquite pit right in the dining area. The prices are very reasonable. You eat on a screened patio out back. There are shared tables and a bunch of people smoking cigarettes, so if you don't like that, maybe it's not the place. The space is not air conditioned, so recommend going in the cooler weather.

Great dive bar! Locals galore! Power was out and they still made it an awesome experience! Someone brought Eegees in the tub and we all got a serving!

I'd seen several mentions of this establishment in my Facebook feed, so we decided to give it a try. It's a little hole-in-the-wall with a lot of regular customers coming and going. We were welcomed in by the bartender/server and told to sit wherever we'd like, inside or out. Although it was dark inside, we didn't want to sit outdoors where people were smoking. They had a variety of menu options, plus a few specials. We ordered their largest burger, which came as two half pound patties. We got potato salad with that. We also split the fried chicken basket and upgraded to onion rings. The food was all good. The chicken maybe a tad overcooked, but we enjoyed our meals. Service was friendly and efficient. I think this place is probably hopping in the evenings, but we were there early afternoon. Right now there's construction going on in the street right outside the bar, so it is a little challenging to get into the parking area.

I ordered the $8 fish fry. The bill shows it as $9 (even though ALL signage around the place say $8), the waitress brought out a basket of ice cold fries, and 3 pieces of Fish. No ketchup to dip the fries in, no Malt Vinegar for the fish, and disappeared for 30 minutes never came back to ask if I wanted any more fish or if everything was good. The place had about 10 people in it at the tone.

Yeah, could've been a better experience. We came on filet mignon night and they were OUT of filet mignon pretty darn early in the evening (before we got there). Not only that, they ran out of salad by (which comes with every meal) by 7:30 and even potatoes. The four of us got the last three potatoes, so my friend gave me his and he had nothing to show for it The meat was pretty good, what food we received, so I cannot complain about that. And running our of salad and potatoes is fine, but nobody told us that when we ordered (that they were running pretty low). Sounds like a management issue. They could have done better. I don't think I will be headin' back to Nevada Smith's any time real soon!

Absolutely the worst steak I've ever had in a restaurant. If you love fat and gristle, this is your place.

That whole St. Philip's area always has a great energy, and UPH is a big part of that. There's usually a crowd, live music or sports on, and it feels like one of those places where you can bring friends from out of town and know it'll be a fun time. Food is consistently solid. The grilled chicken sandwich is my go-to and it's good every time. We both usually get one, and a lot of the time we'll add buffalo wings, which are some of our favorites in Tucson. Good flavor, good texture, and always reliable. If anything, the wings could always use a little more sauce, but they're still one of the better orders on the menu. The only real issue, and it happens pretty often, is the service speed. Everyone there is friendly, but the place always feels understaffed, especially when it's busy. We've had multiple times sitting outside in the Arizona heat where it takes 15-20 minutes just to get water to the table, and you start wondering if you should go up to the bar yourself to get things moving. Once service gets going everything is fine, but getting that first round of attention can take longer than it should for how often this place fills up. Even with that, we keep coming back. The food is consistent, the atmosphere is great, and the plaza has a real sense of community that makes it easy to hang out there for a while. It's one of our go-to spots in Tucson, and it's still somewhere we bring friends when they're visiting. Food 7.5 Ambience 8 Service 7 Price 7 7.4 overall C Great place to spend time, just don't expect everything to happen quickly when it's busy.

And if you've made dinner plans, or just want to have some bar food while watching sports, Union does that too! What I love: Ice-cold, bubbly bottomless mimosas on a pleasant Sunday morning. Burgers (they make a good burger) with basketball on at Sunset. This is a great hangout spot at any time of day, and service has been consistently outstanding. What I also enjoy: The breakfast food sticks to the basics, but is done well. They make surprisingly decent pizzas, if you're in the mood for that. As with everything else in the surrounding plaza, it gets busy and there's often some sort of event out front, usually a market or live music. You should drop by while the weather is still perfect!

It feels like there is ALWAYS something going on here. On my first visit, my girlfriend took me on a date here to catch a burlesque show. It was absolutely packed and everyone had a great time! And every Friday and Saturday night, there is some reiteration of a goth dance night ($5 cover). I also appreciate the slightly older crowd full of my fellow thirtysomethings, and the upstairs patio cannot be missed when the weather is nice. The cocktail menu isn't anything especially fancy, but there's still something for everyone to enjoy. My favorite is always the Prickly Heat--think a prickly pear margarita that's absolutely loaded with fresh jalapenos. It's not for the weak! There's also food, and while it's not mind-blowing or anything you'll appreciate that you can have a nice snack at midnight on a weekend. Surly Wench is a local cultural institution, and we're lucky to have it.

They have taken the wordmark and instilled it into their personalities. Maybe, sadly it's time for the once mighty and always fun wench to move on and embrace the brave new world. Seriously a bummer!

I've had Barrio Blonde on many occasions at other places, but this one tasted unusually bitter and a bit flat. It seemed like the beer may have gotten warm at some point and was later cooled again, affecting the flavor. We were hungry, so we ordered the patty melt. The burger was good, with a flavorful patty and perfectly toasted bread. The bathrooms were also very clean, which is always appreciated. Overall, service was friendly and attentive, but the beer quality this visit was disappointing.
