The tranquil atmosphere and scenic views of the pond make it a pleasant spot to stretch your legs or enjoy a moment of reflection. However, today the stillness of the water seemed to invite an unwelcome crowd--mosquitoes were out in full force, making the visit a bit less comfortable than usual. Despite the buzzing company, the park's charm and historical significance still shine through. Settlement of the site goes back to the early 1700s, when the first mill was built along Crooked Run Creek. Over the centuries, the site evolved through various owners and names, including Hatch's Mill and McDaniel's Mill, before becoming Brock Mill in 1899. The current mill house, constructed in the 1940s, replaced an earlier structure and continued producing cornmeal, grits, and livestock feed until its commercial operations ceased in 1964. Notably, Mr. Brock installed a turbine generator in 1916, bringing electricity to Trenton well before the Rural Electrification Act, marking the site as both a historical and technological landmark. Nice floating dock where you can sit and have lunch while you listen to the area's birds sing the favorite songs. This boat ramp is a small one without much activity. There are no picnic tables, so we sat on the fishing benches on the dock to enjoy our lunch. Also, this is a very rustic launch with no bathrooms, so be prepared to hold it. If you're in the area and want to get away for a quick break, Cow Pen is a nice little oasis.

The park has a fenced playground with modern equipment that appears in great condition. I like that there is a small fence to limit access and keep the little ones from possibly wandering off. There is also a picnic shelter with picnic tables though no grill. The main attraction here is the walking track that was in good use today with at least a dozen folks doing laps. It alternates days going clockwise and counter-clockwise so that the walking is perhaps a little fresher and less boring. Decided to try out the ymca since there's no where else to swim around here. Life guards were…read moreextremely rude. Would not allow our 1 year old to use his float that helps teach him how to swim on his own even though we were clearly accompanying him. Paid 20 dollars for a family pass and after 30 minutes they closed the pool AN HOUR AND A HALF EARLY. The pool bottom was absolutely filthy covered in dirt and I stepped in gum while swimming! Then the life guard had the nerve to say we swore at her when she told us we couldn't use the float. I specifically said it's for the baby that's stupid. She said well we have life vests while walking away. She didn't offer us one she just rudely stated they had them somewhere and left. Management approached us and said she stated we used profanity towards her and it be best we not come back. Not sure where that's swearing but next time I'll be sure to cuss her out and I let management know that as well. You can keep your rude useless life guards and filthy pool believe me we have no desire to ever return.

When you walk in, you are greeted by one of the friendly staff members (Madeline is so sweet!), and you'll notice the cleanliness of the facility, the first-rate equipment and the overall upbeat energy of the place. Everything you need for health and fitness is right here...classes, equipment/machines and personal trainers. CLASSES - I've really been enjoying the classes so much and the teachers are amazing. There is so much variety! I love taking Amie's BODYPUMP class, Brooke's TONE class, Diane's PILATES (Mat & Reformer) class and Tamara's YOGA class. There are lots of classes in addition to these that I haven't tried yet, so I recommend coming in to check out all they have to offer, as I'm sure you'll find classes that will be just the right fit for you. EQUIPMENT/MACHINES - There is a huge variety of equipment at Sound, along with many different weight machines to choose from. There are plenty of treadmills, ellipticals, cycling and stair machines...too many to list, actually. At Sound Fitness there is truly something for everyone and everything is always kept clean and well-maintained. PERSONAL TRAINERS - There are some wonderful personal trainers at Sound Fitness and I had the pleasure of working with Brooke (the owner) recently. She is amazing! She educated me on how certain exercises and just slight tweaks of form can make a huge difference in overall mobility and fitness. She is very knowledgeable and truly cares about her clients and gym members. Sound Fitness is the perfect gym, in my opinion...not too big as to overwhelm but just the right size for all of your fitness needs. I'm so glad to have found my "fit family" at Sound Fitness!
