Went in to get my skis waxed before taking a trip. Tried on some boots and ended up getting a custom fitting. Everyone involved from owner to employee helped me get what I needed. Didnt walk in with the expectation and walked out even happier. Like they always say get your boots custom fit... there is nowhere else I would go. They took care of me like I was family. Every item I looked at they gave their professional opinion and helped me get suited for the season. 10/10 shop. Support local businesses! read more

I made an online purchase via expedited shipping. Package never arrived. I contacted shipper they explained that Neptune didn't purchase an expedited shipping label but charged me for one. I attempted several times to resolve the matter ask for refund via email and phone. Very poor customer service. I reccomend taking your business elsewhere. I will contact BBB and my credit card to dispute this immediately. read more

I took my brand new snowboard in to be waxed and tuned. I had a small scuff from the top of a tree first time out. The job they did was laughable at best and at the worst they actually managed to burn the bottom in one spot. When questioned about the fact that the board looked worse then when I brought it in and that it didn't even look waxed at all they gave a lame excuse of the board being a bad shape or some crap? I've been boarding for 25 years and I know what a tune and wax looks like-this ain't it!! I have had a better wax job on the side of a mountain while I ate lunch for 30 minutes. I immediately took it to another place and they just couldn't believe that I actually paid for that insulting job. The guy at the other shop was able to take off all the sloppy random t-pex spots that were everywhere and did a hand wax on it. It's not perfect, but 1000% better than the Neptune job that cost me $70 and he did it for free. I would skip this place for waxing and tuning, they obviously don't know what they are doing and instead blame the brand new $600 board as the problem!! I wish I had taken pics. Just terrible and disappointing to say the least. read more

When I called they indicated they could try to fix my binding by seeing what's in the shop and doing some research. I came by to drop off the board, and explained it all again since they said the guy I talked to on the phone was busy. Binding first priority, while they have they can tune it. I don't think that guy relayed the information very well. Over two weeks later I finally get a call that they are starting to work on my board. I said multiple times the priority is the binding and not to worry so much about he tune. Couple days later my board is tuned with no binding fixed. Brief mention that the binding strap is broken and they can't fix it. I go to pick up my board and am there for 15 minutes. They hand me my board ask me to sign something, and I remind them there were bindings with it. They finally found them, told me I don't need to sign the first thing after all. While I was waiting one of the younger workers noticed my board have been waxed (good) but he didn't think the edges looked tuned. I paid (it was a reasonable price) and got out of there! In conclusion, maybe it is busy season, but they didn't want to listen to the customer's requests and simply up-sold me to their mainstream services and products. The quality of work is questionable (board edges), and above all, the communication is really bad. They are like-able people though! Maybe I set the bar too high for a mom & pop type business. read more

Maybe I should wait till I use the equipment to give a review... but they were just too fabulous not to give one now and then later after my ski trip! The owner spent hours with my partner and me evaluating our older equipment, doing the math on renting vs buying equipment, fitting me for boots, evaluating my partner's boots, and choosing new skiis. If you're going on a short ski trip, renting through them would be amazing if you don't want to own your equipment. The prices for rental were half what they are in the resort where we are going. I decided to purchase equipment because I am going for 2 1/2 weeks, am a new skiier in my 60's and wanted to have the most positive experience possible so that I can go every year and love it. I feel like my needs were understood and I feel confident in the equipment I purchased. They have been in business for 50 years and people drive 100's of miles for boot fitting (their specialty). I don't think you'll find a better place in the greater Nashville area for your ski and snowboard needs. My partner will be checking out their scuba diving equipment later this year - so we'll return for a review on that then! read more

I was planning on renting skis/boots for my family and driving out to snowshoe in WV. I was pleasantly surprised that we had a place in nashville to rent from - and the prices seemed right as well. So I reserved the skis (6 pairs), agreed to a price (only for the actual 4 ski days! They weren't charging us for travel days or the day they were closed, which made it very attractive), had everybody fitted over several trips, and were set to go! Imagine my surprise when the day came to pick up the skis and leave for our trip, somebody had scratched out the "4" ON MY SIGNED ORDER(!!) and wrote in "7" and tried to charge me almost double! We agreed to 5 days after some discussion, but that left a very, very bad taste in my mouth. Not a good way to do business-if your employee negotiates a price and it's all agreed to, you can't change it without even so much as a phone call first!! Then when we went to return the skis, the shop wasn't even open (bad snow storm). Anyway, lots of driving and shady issues. Other than that, the rental rate was pretty good and we had a good time skiing. The equipment functioned well and fit perfectly. read more

When I first moved here I had 2 years of boarding on my belt and limited knowledge. I've been shopping and coming in regularly to Neptune for the past 2 years, they have showed me what to look for in a board, and I've gotten 3 boards from them! I received a gift card for my birthday from my sister. It was during the middle of covid and their store didn't have the item I wanted. I'm from Southern Kentucky and this is the closest snowboard store to me. Apparently if you buy a gift card it's only good for a year. Upon returning to the store my gift certificate had expired by a few months and the owner told me there was nothing they could do. I would not recommend this place and the items in the store are overpriced and you would be better off shopping else where or online. read more

This place sums up the perks of shopping local. I came in expecting to take no longer than 20 minutes. In and out. Not time for chit chat. How's my day? It's fine. Where are your snowboard pants, jackets, and fitting rooms? Thank you, have a nice day. Fast forward an hour and a half later. Dennis, the owner, turned into my personal shopper/therapist for the day. I'm a novice and have never purchased pants or a jacket (always borrowed from friends). Dennis walked me through their selection, made recommendations, and before I knew it I was catching him up to speed on my life. He told me about his scuba business down in Miami, history of the shop, and some trips that they run throughout the year. You're good Dennis, pretty darn good. I was fitted with rental boots (size 27) last year which let to tear inducing shin bang and a jacked up ankle. With my upcoming ski trip on spring break, I was wary of another rental situation but not sure about making a custom boot investment. After some research and talking with friends, I decided to bite the bullet on custom ski boots and turned to Neptunes, a local and family run business. I spent an hour and a half selecting the right boot and crafting the perfect mold. It turns out, I actually need a size 25.5 making the rental fitters incredibly off (which is infuriating given rental companies expect a tip on top of the rental fees). Yes, this is a luxury but skiing isn't cheap so you better enjoy your time and be comfortable and avoid injury. Neptunes has been fitting boots for over 40 years and know what they are doing. I learned all about how a boot should fit, how to buckle/unbuckle and care for ski boots. I walked out with a pair of Roxa R/Fit 95 boots for $399 plus $60 insoles plus tax and lifetime of adjusting as needed, so a very fair price. I can't say enough nice things about this business and "stoked" (as the cool kids say) about my upcoming trip! read more

I contacted Neptune in October of 2020 to ask for a replacement of a lost MDEA diver certification card. I got no response fo my email to their site MDEA world.com. I then contacted them by phone and spoke with Dennis who requested that I email the request to another site. I got no response. I then called Dennis and his son Shane regarding the request and they asked for more information. I provided the information but got no response. On a consequent call to Dennis, he asked for a picture and payment which I provided. No response. On another consequent call, he stated that their records were a mess and blamed it on the previous owner of MDEA. He stated that they had no record of my certification, I offered to (and did) send him a photograph of the temporary cert. card. He stated unequivocally that the photo was sufficient. I provided the photograph. No response. Another call to Dennis revealed that they were so busy that they hadn't found time to make the card and asked if I could wait a few weeks. I did. No response. On my next call/contact, Dennis stated that the person who made the cards had left the shop and that Shane was the only one who could make the card, but he was on vacation for nine days. I waited several weeks and contacted Dennis again. He stated that Shane was back and would send the replacement card shortly. No response. I emailed the shop to beg that the six-month-old request be fulfilled. Today I received an email from Shane stating that there is no record of my certification and that MDEA would not provide a replacement card. I am frustrated and a little disappointed that they would string me along for months, then refuse my request completely despite stating that the information I provided was completely sufficient. read more

I stopped by the store and was greeted by a gentleman named Dennis who turned out to be the store owner. He and his team are very knowledgeable, helped me find the right pair of boots, fitted them properly, and I am very pleased at how affordable the pricing turned out. I've worked with the Neptune shop for gear and ski trips in the past and have nothing but great experiences with the shop, luckily enough I had the opportunity to get out to Tennessee and learn to Scuba this summer. I had a great experience with extremely knowledgeable Dive instructors and helpers. I had the privilege of being trained by Shane and couldn't have asked for a better scuba instructor, he takes the time to make sure everyone retains the information he's passing on to his students while maintaining a lighthearted atmosphere and having a ton of fun along the way! Significantly disappointed in Neptune Ski and their customer service. I needed to order a special ski item and it never got ordered. I know mistakes happen, but when your employee is unable to focus and very nonchalant about it right to your face when questioning him, you loose faith in the company. On a second occasion, my husband dropped off his board to get waxed and agreed on a pickup day. The day came, and my husband called the morning of to find out that the board wasn't ready. I'm glad I encouraged my husband to put in a buffer day of when we actually needed it. I would hope they would employ more responsible people. I will never support this local company again. read more
