GREAT PLACE!!!! It's true, it is a little hole in the wall. BUT!, it's very clean and all of the staff are amazing. When we came in originally, we had a 2 person seat. Our waitress noticed that another table was leaving and asked if we wanted their booth.... DUH of course, and thanks for asking lol. Next, believe what everyone is saying about the coffee. It's perfect. Finally the portions and the price. My mother and I came here on a whim (we didn't want to eat at a chain b/c we get that at home in NYC). The portions were big and, AND Linda, we only paid $17.32 for full breakfast. Also, just as important, they are only open from 6am-3pm and closed on Sundays. After waiting for 30 minutes in a 1/3 full Nelson's Diner (recently bought by Galuppi's) we asked a different waitress to check on our order. Moments later yet another waitress came over to say that the order was now being processed and that our original order had not earlier been placed and apologized. We said OK things happen...... but what happened next blew us away. Our original waitress came to apologize and we received our check. We were surprised to see we had been comped on the meals and were only charged for the beverages. We thanked her and gave payment but were shocked when yet another waitress came back with our payment and said we were given the wrong check and gave us the full bill. This embarrassing management style was glaring proof that Nelson's is no longer the former Mom and Pop diner it once was. Galuppi's clearly places bottom line profit over good will. Our weekly foursome after 2 years is now choosing another more friendly diner to support. read more

I placed my order on line for carry out. It was a bit challenging as it was not accepting my punch request for carry out and wouldn't let me continue until that went through. Then I ordered a salad - TY Cobb. I did not want dressing, so when it asked for dressing, I clicked on dry as it would not let me continue until I had made a choice. Then I arrived and went to pay. I was charged 3% because I used a credit card. No where on the website did it say that there was a 3% charge when you pay by credit card. I had cash in the car, if I had known. Then when I got home, there was no blue cheese on the salad, so I called Nelson's. The person who answered the phone explained that the 3% charge is posted on their entrance door and by clicking 'dry' under dressings, they don't put blue cheese on the Cobb salad. That was not stated on the website either. This makes no sense. It's a Cobb salad. The salad was just okay but really needed the blue cheese and real turkey. The turkey was sliced deli sandwich meat. I'm afraid it will be a long time before I return there again if this is an example of their food and services. read more

Nelson's diner! Where have you been all my life. This little place is right down the street from where I live and I have only discovered it just now. It's in a kind low level strip mall and I didn't give it a second look. The Belgian waffle was cooked to perfection as well as the poached eggs. They even offered to cook them soft, medium or hard. My friend suggested we stop and get breakfast at Nelson's. It did not disappoint! I had an exceptional omelette that was more than enough to eat. Portion size is awesome! Wow this place should be talked about alot more.. I used to visit awhile back but didn't feel valued. I stopped for dinner on memorial day with 3 people and the warm welcome and great service we received was out of this world.. Food was super fast and the waiter was top of the line. Hole in the wall. Has the best diner coffee I've ever tasted: I needed two creams to lighten it, it had full- octane kick and lots of flavor. For under $7, I had a usual breakfast special and two cups of that yummy coffee. They do hash browns rather than home fries, which I usually don't like, but these were fresh tasting, crisp on the outside and with plenty of tender shreds. Not overly salted, not greasy. Bacon was crisp, as requested, and plentiful. Had to take one slice of the rye toast home, because the slices were enormous. Decor is fun and the staff is no nonsense and pleasant. Owner peeked out regularly to lend a hand. They were as nice to a disheveled, partly toothless regular as to a couple in business clothes. Bravo them. read more

My boyfriend and I eat here every Saturday morning. It's our go-to little gem of a diner. The prices are cheap, the coffee never stops coming, & the food is consistently good. They also offer good seasonal specials. What more could you ask for? This place is small though, so you might have to wait a little while if you come during rush to be seated. However they always serve your food super fast, usually a easy place to be in and out of quick. P.s. If you don't like Elvis, this isn't the diner for you. Personally I can tell you all the best breakfast spots in the area because I have been to most all of them and Nelson's Diner comes up on the top of my list. Its tucked away in a small strip plaza on S Cypress Rd. If your not paying attention you might just drive right by it. When I sat down and looked up I saw this banner and it put a big smile on my face for obvious reasons. The place is tiny and decorated with Elvis music memorabilia throughout. A great local neighborhood spot. Very Clean with great service. I ordered the Country Fried Steak- Topped with Sausage Gravy, 2 eggs any style, Choice of Hash browns grits or oatmeal with toast or biscuit. Too Good. I rarely ever order Country fried steak because most places don't know how to cook it so well. Nelsons does it the best. Real meat , battered and fried just right! Although the place was packed, we were waited on immediately. Lora, our waitress, was Florida friendly! So was the rest of the wait staff. My NY strip steak was grilled medium rare to perfection. My wife's Memphis breakfast included corn beef hash that was crispy on the top and wonderfully tender underneath! The biscuits were light and fluffy And, the house made gravy was as good as advertised. As for Elvis...the diner is covered with kitch that brings you back to the roots of rock. First time we tried to come to Nelsons it was closed so we made sure to come by the next time we had the chance. 50's style diner with sports banners all over the ceiling. Pictures of Elvis everywhere made me feel like I went back in time. I was torn between three different things... I'll have to come back to try the others. First, the Carolina Cuban Sandwich. Smoked ham and pork, pickles with a special mustard sauce, served on a panera. Second was the philly cheese steak(with American). Third was the country fried steak, topped with sausage gravy(which I love), 2 eggs, hash browns and toast. The girlfriend kept it simple with eggs, sausage, grits and toast. The waitress eventually convinced me to go with the philly, came with two sides so I went with fries and onion rings. As usual I also ordered a "large" side of ranch. :) The girls food looked great. Perfect sunny side up eggs, sausage links, grits that had a nice consistency(no chunks) which is always a win. As for the philly, it was pretty good. Not the best I've had but I'd gladly eat another right now. Ok, maybe not right now, I just ate dinner. The fries and onion rings were delicious. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. This is a small little dinner, I have been twice both times there was a short wait. Each time was reasonable not to long. I love the biscuits and gravy, best in the area. I have also tried the eggs benedict, it is fabulous. Service and food are quick, for the most part the service is fast and friendly. Although the place is packed, the staff gets you seated quickly. The biggest complaint about my experience is that they rush you. Keep in mind that it was my first time there. three different waitresses came by and asked if we were ready to order within five minutes. Melted swiss stuck to ham only, so the whole sandwich flopped and slid around like it came from my 6 year old's play kitchen. Ordered two pieces of their chocolate cake (mousse and death by).
