I left a 3-star review based on my personal experience with the firm's communication. Overall, the firm is professional, but the communication with the assigned paralegal could have been much better. For example, about two weeks ago, I received a message through the client portal regarding an heir's objection to the Letters of Administration. During a follow-up phone conversation, the paralegal discussed concerns about ensuring all heirs were properly notified. However, before ending the call, we never discussed how I should respond to the objection itself. After the call, I sent a message through the client portal asking, "How do I counter?" I did not receive a response. Then, two weeks later, I received a phone call stating that I "should have waited for them to counter for me." My concern is that this was never explained to me when I initially asked the question. The explanation given... "the attorney was busy and needed time to respond", which I completely understand. However, that could have been communicated at the time. If a client portal is being used for communication, clients should not have to wait two weeks without any acknowledgment or guidance. Again, the firm is professional overall, but clearer and more timely communication would have made the experience much better. read more

I concur with the other clients assertion that this company is good in the beginning...my case isn't over. These people have ZERO communication skills! I have emailed and called to no avail. I lost my administrative position because THEY LOST PAPERWORK, or so it seems. The judge asked for a surety bond, which I did immediately, and now no one except for me and my Insurance agent, has the paperwork. NOW they want to get a second permission slip from the other heirs who have never been part of this family, until money became involved. IN MY EXPERIENCE, THESE PEOPLE ARE UNPROFESSIONAL AND INATTENTIVE TO THEIR CLIENTS. THEY WERE PAID IN FULL 2 YEARS AGO, so, no, I DO NOT OWE THEM A DIME! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!!! They will take your money and not think twice about doing it. My husband and I went to Nelson Elder Care Law for estate planning (will, durable POA, advanced health directive and a transfer on death deed (TODD)). Our first no charge consultation was with Amy Byars. She told us they don't do TODD's and that we needed a trust. This was all new to us and this was their way to scam us. We paid $6,200 for will, durable POA, advances health directive and an irrevocable trust. We paid the fee that day and Ms. Byars told us if we changed our mind, we would get our money back and she would see to it. OR better yet we could put it on a credit card, and we could dispute the charge and get our money back that way. We were told by our financial planner we didn't need a trust. What a joke, you can't talk to anyone, only use the case app which is a horrible way to do business. We tried to cancel everything until we knew if our mortgage company would be calling the mortgage and we would have to pay the mortgage in full. Even though this was a one-time charge out the door pricing that wasn't the case. Jennifer Stroble said we can take care of the mortgage for another $350. We had a meeting with Jennifer Stroble and basically, she scared my husband and I into agreeing to the trust, (more money for the firm if we did the trust). This firm is nothing but liars and they will take advantage of you and take your money. My husband and I have not received any of the services we paid for and Nelson Elder Care Law is refusing to give us our money back. We disputed the charge and the firm lied to the bank and we are out $6,200. They terminated our agreement (by the way, Cindy Nelson who is one of the owners sent the letter) with no date on the letter. Why didn't she or her husband give us a call to discuss. They are really good about making a client feel good and then stick it to you. No, we don't have to money to do our estate planning. Thank you very much, Nelson Elder Care Law. my 92 year old mother had to be moved to a memory care facility and didn't want to move from her home where she had lived alone for the last 13 years. after several falls and medical events I hired Nelson Elder Law to help with getting guardianship and conservatorship for my mom. they charged me $7.5k for that and worked with me from November 2025 until February 2026 when the court ordered letters were issued. when I signed on with Nelson I mistakenly thought they were a good company. then I had to petition the court to sell moms home and car to pay for her $6k per month dementia care. Nelson said they would help me fill out the one court form (some of the legal language is unknown to me) for an additional $2k!!!!!! ridiculous. what a rip off. i cannot do what I came to them to do unless I agree to pay. it probably wouldn't take them 30 minutes. read more

Now I'm finding out this company wasn't as great as they led me to believe. i disclosed to them I had a mortgage on my house; they didn't advised me on what to do about it. Now, the mortgage company is demanding payment in full. I paid $5,000 for this trust, way overpriced as other companies; they sold it ti me as they were the best for being so thorough and I wouldn't have to worry about anything. Never use this company! They are a total rip off treated myself and my doctor husband horribly July 2nd 2024. I blame the person who handled our account attorney Tim Foster for all of it. He's an untrustworthy malicious greedy self-serving jerk. He misrepresented what they could do to create a workable will for myself and my husband jointly and separately as one will. My husband was a board-certified MD. We had all the paperwork completed I did not have a chance to review it to check for grammatical errors and to make sure all pages were there. My husband suffered a brain aneurysm July the 1st I went to their office we were scheduled to sign together on both his paperwork and mine as a couple. He had a health emergency which he was recovering from July 2 of 2024 was in the hospital the day he was to sign his part of the paperwork. I went to their office off Dallas highway signed my half they refused to give me his half I was busy in intensive care with him didn't have a chance to look over my half of the paperwork. There were misspellings in fact it was even someone else's name listed on one section of my own will. It was a mess. His had pages missing especially page 2 of the first part of his will I caught all this after I had a chance to look it over which was after the fact. The nurse at the hospital said he would be okay was doing fine to have paperwork signed before I went over to see him. The attorney showed up with his half of the paperwork Doc was unable to sign it. We had to leave the hospital they wouldn't let us stay a stepdaughter that had not had contact with him in years showed up it was a mess they made us leave I am his wife I had the power of attorney. Tim Foster was angry with me about it maliciously tried to get back at me for and it was something I had no control over he refused to give me Docs half of the paperwork told me I needed to get another attorney to call him he would give it to him. It was my paperwork I had paid a lot of money for it and he refused to give it to me. I had paid $6,500 for it which was completely triple-charged compared to what it should have been he Force me to sign a paper the next week the stated I couldn't come back on them for anything found wrong with what they had done on the paperwork it was a mess. My husband Dr M was getting still in the hospital recovering until Sept 1 when he was forced to move to Sandy springs rehab he wasn't ready to move. He was having issues with his heart. His mind as clear on day one I have video after video of him answering specific questions correctly his memory was great he was having to recover from surgery. I was forced to hire a notary get two witnesses to come to the hospital to witness his half of the paperwork which I had to have him sign I later found a couple of missing pages and errors they refused to correct with Nelson Elder they should be shut down as con artists. His will had way too many errors. for supposed professional company it definitely isn't it's a joke. I ended up losing everything because of this. Had to hire two other sets of attorneys. Watching IRA and a 401k with 3 million in funds disbursed to a stepdaughter that had nothing to do with our situation from something 16 years old his finance company refuse to send us the change of beneficiary form because of the errors in the will they wanted corrected and went ahead and disbursed the money anyway with all of the bills he owed against his house so he locked alone I had no money to even bury him with. Had to have him cremated and then they refuse to give me his ashes they got left in his house which foreclosed in July on the steps of the courthouse for $400,000 it was worth almost nine. It was resold by a company to another company and all the money was lost. The step daughters attorney she hired hired an administrator who didn't do anything didn't try to resell it or even hold an estate sale it has been a huge mess and I have watched his condo in Florida his house all of his personal possessions everything be squandered I haven't received one dime out of any of it as the wife and I'm furious about all of it do not use this company they should be shut down as ripoffs it's a cautionary tale you don't want to go through what I just went through in this economy when nothing can be afforded read more

This has been overall the worst experience possible We have been involved with this firm for over nine months. We started the probate process, paid our initial fee, did all we were asked to do, were told we would have to pay additional fees which we did. Then radio silence and when I called and called and finally got through I was told our case worker was no longer there. No one had reached out to us to let us know-no email, no call not even an update in the app they want you to use. I finally spoke to someone who assured me that probate was still moving forward. Funny thing is by this time we had already sold the property and closed on it. Turns out we didn't even need to enter into probate- and our original person had all the paperwork and should have been able to see this. I spoke with another gentleman who asked what did I think they could do to make things right- I said I need a refund- at the very least for the additional fees that were collected after it should have been obvious that probate wasn't needed Instead I was told that another property in another state would need to be probated and that he would have someone get back to me that next week with names of someone who could help in that state. Two weeks later after many messages both by phone and in the app I was told that they were still working on it. By this time I had spoken with someone in several offices in the state the property was located and figured out we didn't need to be in probate there either. Once again I asked for a refund but was instead redirected again. I researched how to file to end probate but that would have meant more money out pocket so I contacted Nelson Elder care once again to inquire on closing probate. That was over 2 months ago and we are still waiting with very little to no communication unless I call or text multiple times. This company has truly taken advantage of the fact that we needed someone to help us with a process that we had little to no knowledge of. We counted on them to be diligent and well versed in this process. Instead they took advantage, took our money and have basically abandoned us to figure it out on our own. read more

These people are liars, seriously. They said they filed for me to get letters of administration, but they did not ever file. Im an only child and nelson group wanted to charge me $10000 to contest a will that came in 2 months after i hired them and im now doing it on my own for $50 fighting my moms boyfriend over everything and if they would have really filed like they said they did i would have gotten the letters of administration and that would be that. Con artists is what they are and its hard to swallow all this and be grieving from the loss of your loved one at the same time. read more

We asked for a refund and Cindy, pretty much laughed in our faces. She offer $750 refund. They are not a good place to go for trusts/wills... Research on websites before you go here. When first dealing with the Nelson Elder Care Law firm, they were very attentive to every detail and need. My wife and I used them to create an irrevocable trust. However, painfully, my wife passed away about two years later. When I contacted Nelson to see if I could talk to someone to review my trust in order to determine if changes were needed, I was met with a surprise. I was told I could talk to a paralegal for 45 minutes for a fee of $750. I never expected them to spend time with me for free, but I also never expected to be met with such a high cost. They seemed to be treating me almost as a new client who they had never worked with previously. I was, to say the least, very disappointed. I may need to find another attorney to review my case for a more reasonable fee to see if I need to do anything in response to my wife's passing. Based on Nelson's actions, I would recommend using a different firm to create any needed estate documents such as trusts to develop a longer lasting relationship. Nelson is generally a high-cost product that will sell you a service that may not be in your best interest. In this case, an irrevocable trust for me has downstream consequences for taxes and executor workload. read more

They provide great legal documents and they make you feel confident in what you are paying for. Unfortunately, after you have paid the $5k+ and receive your documents, it is hard to get hold of them. I have had at least 6 phone messages not responded to, 2 different subjects. Most recently, one visit to drop of documents but they weren't available to answer my question about the documents, two phone messages and one email. read more
