Then today we received a letter from Norwood & Norwood stating: "Through police and court records we have learned you have been charged with a crime and should have an attorney to defend you." Are you kidding me? After stopping work immediately to call both Benton and Washington counties to ensure there was not in fact a warrant out (which there wasn't), I called the attorneys' office. The initial administrator was rude and short with me. Eventually I spoke to one of their attorneys who said, and I quote: "We get a list from the jails and send out the mailer from the information in that database." First of all, after a few minutes, he walked back that statement because my information WASN'T with the jail. Second of all, he was entirely unapologetic and refused to acknowledge that this type of advertising is corrosive and absolutely unacceptable. If I had actually been charged with a crime I would probably consider using them. However to tell me that being issued a speeding citation justifies what he said dismissively was "fairly standard boilerplate language" is absurd. I will be the first to say I'm an idiot. However I think it's grossly negligent for this organization to advertise their services using such aggressive, escalatory language like that in a mailer. Take a look at the included photo and make your own judgement call. If you received this, would you be concerned?

However, I can share my personal comments about my own experiences with the firm: 1). I knew I had done my homework in choosing these guys to represent me in this case involving a personal injury. 2). They came highly recommended by people who live in NW Arkansas (I happen to live on a farm in North Central Arkansas and have never needed legal counsel). 3). They are a class organization. The 1st time I met Rick Elliott, he was very personable and concerned about what had happened to me when I was rear ended by a third time convicted DUI driver that had left the scene of the accident. Rick was on top of this case. We kept in touch only when items arose that needed to be addressed. It takes someone with confidence and who knows the law to rebuttal a plea deal and get all the charges dropped along with taking care of 19 other clients and pleasing the judge and the prosecuting attorney. Most lawyers around here aren't bad by any means, but if you want to be represented by someone whos not just at court for a good conversation, and doesn't just accept the first deal they see, and knows the law, your rights, and how to "aggressively" use them in your defense.
