I go to Neiman Marcus for 2 things. Designer Shoes and lunch at the Rotunda. Sometimes I pick up a NEST diffuser or candle for a gift. One time I bought Tom Ford Cafe Rose perfume. Most times? Shoes and then lunch at the Rotunda. Not all salespeople are the same. Some are more friendly and helpful than others. Sadly "others" are snarky, rude, snobby. Seriously? No thanks. The multiple security guards that are visible when I am trying shoes on is why I dread coming here. Interestingly enough - that is the sole reason I visit Neiman Marcus - to physically try shoes on before I make a purchase. Clearly I've made many purchases here. Hey, I need pretty shoes for work. I don't appreciate the tacky guards or obnoxious sales staff. Write that feedback down for the next NM staff meeting. Ordering online? Returns are insanely inconvenient. Order from Nordstrom. Seriously. I have grey hairs from some of my online returns. Nordstrom is my love. Sadly the Stonestown location doesn't carry salon shoes, nor does the San Mateo location. This leaves The Westfield. No thanks. That location is too busy and chaotic for my taste. The Rotunda? Most visits I have a wonderful lunch that makes me feel fancy. The Caviar service doesn't rival Bouchon, but it is a fair equivalent. The NM chicken salad? So good, well priced, my favorite! All in all I have made many purchases in person and online. I love the $100 off $400 deals they have online - just keep your peepers peeled. It's happening online right now! I shop here because they have what I want. I've found during the holidays that if you really need an item in my case luggage or a travel mug and find a deep discount on the neiman Marcus website. Don't order it. This website oversells and under delivers. I liken their Black Friday methods to the dollar store of high end retail. Don't advertise what you don't have. If you have no plan to ever ship it. Honestly their stock reflects their business model. It's modeled after the titanic. I only shop here once a year because that's how long it takes for my retail Alzheimer's to kick in. The cosmetics team here is amazing! Knowledgeable, helpful, and patient. Deann, Sandy, Raymond, Ahlan, Mitzi, and Suze are always ready to assist me when I need it either in person or over the phone/via text. These powerhouses help to make sure that I look and feel my best at all times. Even the manager Lily is helpful. Which is rare because most managers just pass you off to salespeople at other stores. Whenever I need help in jewelry I make sure to schedule an appointment with Lea. She is an expert and always makes sure that my items are carefully handled. With everything closing in the square recently it's nice to know that I can rely on the Neiman Marcus team. read more

Went here to check on the Hearts of San Francisco 2023 as they were being displayed at Neiman Marcus. I never been to a Neiman Marcus & it blows my mind how luxurious this store is inside. The store has various high end store & a wonderful area to take stunning photos of the SF area. Each high end fashion company has their own designated cubical area, which I found helpful especially if you are into a certain brand. The brand name is displayed on the wall of their designated space. The building has over 7 floors & a list that states what each floor is known for near the escalator & elevator(women clothing, men clothing, jewelry, etc). read more

They immediately provided a full refund of the product in question. In short, it was a happy ending only after much haranguing. It should not have escalated like this at all. The Rontunda is nice for the service and view...the food is decent. But, I don't think anyone really goes there for the food. The cafe...I don't think the food is all that great, your basic Costco fare, but the staff is nice. The cosmetics (my addiction) is 50/50. There is a blonde, older woman (late 70s)...I think her name is Karen or Carole... who has been there forever...she is a real piece of work. She's rude and tacky. I avoid her when I go in. First time I bought a Chanel jumbo classic bag here and it also was the last time. Extremely poor customer service in designer handbag section. The sales manager Alysa is the worst of the worst. She refused to exchange me a new bag without even looking at it when I brought the bag back only a few days after purchased. I told her that there are some defects on the link/ chain but she argued with me: those are not defects..Quite annoyed! I went to this department store desperately to buy an eyeshadow pallet. That morning, I booked a makeup appointment to get ready to go to the SF City Hall to get married. The appointment booking system had a glitch and I left without a makeup artist to help me. So, I went to Neiman Marcus to buy a pallet and do the makeup myself. I was in luck because at the Dior section, I met Veronica (I hope I remember her name correctly. I was in so much stress and was so nervous.) She and her colleague helped me to pick and choose the right eyeshadow palette and also helped me with an amazing eyeshadow and face makeup! That was a life saver because I'm terrible at putting eye shadows on. I ended up buying more than just the eyeshadow from that store and got to learn about a lot of many other super cool Dior skin care and makeup products. I also got a really good lipstick that lasts very long! I've been looking for a good one for ages! All in all, if I were the store manager, I would immediately promote her. Not only she was extremely kind, caring and helpful, but also she did a fantastic job of selling really good products to me. These are very rare sales skills that she has. Kindly helping customers while providing honest opinion about each product and how they can be helpful. I will definitely come back to the store hoping to see her and would love to shop more of the Dior products with her help. I hope the store management appreciates having her onboard. Love the Rotunda and also love the fresh market which I tried for the first time. The quiche is amazing. My issue is the assortment of retail merchandise. Women's area: Valentino nothing to see; Armani meh, D&G awful, Tom Ford just pieces, Chanel do not like the pink and black look, the only designer has a great collection is Brunello. Those beautiful merchandise online are no where to be found in store. Men's area: shoes great, Tom Ford great, Armani great, mens area seems to have pretty good assortment. However, when I tried to buy NM holiday men's beauty assortment bags, none were stocked in the store and told I have to buy online. warning... I did not know Neiman is going through bankruptcy. SO I decided to update my wardrobe and the web said free returns. I got the 2nd item and it is not what I expected at all. I go through returns process online and guess what? No customer service. $10 fee for returns even though it said free when I bought it. I had the option to text Customer Service but I got text saying "message returned." I did a quick google to learn the bankruptcy issues and that even if I return at the store, I only get store credit. How sad! Or maybe it was all the thefts during the pandemic. Now I'm stuck w an ugly shirt or forced to buy something before it closes down. No credit it seems. I am not even trusting if I mailed it, I would get my $ refunded so there's that risk too. Luxury shopping is officially dead. I've bought from several designers and departments within NM. The service and luxury experience has severely deteriorated. The sales associates at VCA aren't hospitable or helpful. Two sales associates in the shoe division ignored me for 10 minutes to have personal conversations among themselves. Their demeanors weren't the most approachable and of course no greeting or acknowledgement of any sort upon entry. You'd think I was invisible. I miss the days of high fashion shopping being fun, accommodating, and explorative. More recently it's been a massive disappointment. I don't want a red carpet but some hospitality, mannerism, and professionalism should be a minimal standard in establishments of this caliber. The bar is so low. read more

Definitely one of the coolest places in the city. Union square has seen some turmoil in recent months but at this Neimans you don't feel any of that. On the second floor there are the most gorgeous designs and the lay out is really special. Each designer has a space making it feel like a boutique. The Dolce and Gabanna shop was a favorite with all of the bright colors. The makeup floor is also well staffed and everyone is very attentive while still giving you space. This will be my first stop next time I am in the city. read more

I don't normally go to Neiman Marcus but they have a partnership with Sugarfina and their new Hello Kitty line of treats. Hello Kitty made a visit to the store to see her adoring fans. Strawberry shakes, macarons, and Hello Kitty cookies were being served for those of us waiting in line. There was also an area when they were offering samples of the new Hello Kitty treats. The flavors include a HK apple pie (because that is her favorite dessert that her mama makes), berry HK bows, Kerroppi key lime pie, My Melody pink and white chocolate pearls, Bads Maru chocolate balls with pop rocks (disappointed they ran of these for purchase), Chococat chocolate caramel balls and Gudetama's orange eggs. And then there is the cute "bento" box. Fits 3 boxes of candies. All available at Neiman Marcus and your closest Sugarfina. Too cute to resist. Even the sales people in the jewelry department where this sale was going on was happy to see this collaboration. read more

What an absolutely stunning department store! The wow factor is definitely there, and the staff are some of the nicest folks I've ever met in retail. I was greeted several different times by staff members as I passed by, and left to shop in peace. No one following me around, eyeing me suspiciously, or otherwise making me feel uncomfortable. Definite points for that. Most of the major fashion houses had some kind of representation in this store. A few of them even had smaller Boutique shops within the store, selling purses, wallets and other accessories. I stopped by the Prada boutique (because I'm convinced that Prada has the softest leather of any of the major fashion houses) looking for a new work bag. I found a few things that caught my eye, but because I have such strict requirements and specifications for the kind of bag I need (not to mention the fact that I'm trying to buy something that looks different than what I already own) I wasn't able to find something that met my needs today. However, the two ladies who worked in the boutique we're so patient in helping to narrow down my options. I wasn't pressured to buy something I wasn't completely enamored with, and one of the sales associates even offered to do some more research on the website to see what other styles would meet my specifications. Well this store is amazing . I believe it used to be the " City of Paris " It's been NM for as long as I can remember . The rotunda is stunning & when u dine there or have afternoon tea , it feels magical & special. The popovers and fresh strawberry butter , the consume , just all so delicious . The casual cafe is also very good . I have a few wonderful people that work at this location and at the Standford one , that I just text what it is I am looking for & it's easy . Customer service is sublime . Always . I love the epicurean dept & the holiday section , I have scored some fabulous ornaments & I buy a lot of Juliska , Portuguese hand made dishes , glassware & the Xmas line , I add to yearly . Shoes , bags , cosmetics , perfumes , candles . Stuff we just have to have ! Ha Xmas Catalog is out . I might have to approach this year differently, but I will definitely be in the store , soon .... Wow was I impressed! Yes, their suits are not the cheapest. I was very hesitant to buy one here. However, considering the cost of my time and alterations gone bad many times at Nordstrom's. I actually think this place is a good value. Alterations were totally perfect on the first time. The tailor didn't destroy my suit as they did at Nordstrom's. The suit fabric is also much nicer and will probably last me a decade or two. If you're looking at upfront cost, this is not the place for you, but if you're looking for all in cost of ownership, then this place is a remarkable value. The Sales assistants and other people working in the store are quite friendly compared to the other Chanel boutique across the street. The only thing is they never have anything I want. I think because they're a smaller boutique their selection and stock isn't the best. But it's SF they should have a bigger stock and selection. The whole NM experience is very frustrating. I was trying to buy a sweatshirt and I placed the order FIVE TIMES!!! with different credit cards, with different representatives, even the manager, and through the store. My orders got cancelled, I called every single time about the issue and NOBODY knew why. Everybody said "there is something wrong with your information". I asked them" what information do you need, I can provide it to you." And nobody has it. They forward the issue to the risk department and my order got cancel AGAIN! Actually, the FOURTH TIME!! My shipping address and the billing address are exactly the same, and this is not the first time I place an order with NM. I was just trying to find the root cause and no one could help. Eventually, I have to drive to the store to pick it up myself. For a top ranking luxury brand store, I am so surprised and disappointed that the whole experience can be this exhausting and frustrating! Full bar loaded with anything you crave. Want a glass of Opus One? You got it! Want a glass of high end French champagne? You got it. ( so many I can't list them here). Lunch menu - lots of starters// interesting things like lobster spring rolls with dipping sauce, lobster bisque etc. salads like Cobb ( $30) chicken salad with greens and avocado ($26)/-- you get the feeling-/ even a burger or if you prefer a turkey burger - The scene is mostly woman, SF women, that "lunch" daily in places like this. Dressed up nicely in full regalia including Chanel bags and very large diamond rings. How you ask do I know about the rings?? Well sitting next to us on both sides were the aforementioned ladies. I think It's SFs version of a Paris bistro except we weren't seated on the sidewalk / I really liked it actually and would go back. I would be remiss if I didn't mention their signature Popovers served with strawberry butter - comp starter. Fantastic.
