Holy cow! These are seriously delicious large donuts. My coworker brought in an assorted box and it was super hard to make up my mind because they all looked so good. I'm a sucker for jelly/filled donuts, so I went for a blueberry crumb donut and did not regret my decision. The donut was dipped in glaze and topped with lemon crumb. Amazing! Despite there been more donuts left, I was stuffed. So, if you're trying to decide, choose wisely because one donut is enough to keep you full for a while.

Neil's Donuts OG location is bright and welcoming with lots of friendly faces! Go early and know what you want because it gets busy inside. The whole family loves the donuts, definitely worth the drive every time.

Definitely worth the hype! Walked in and the line was almost out the door, but that didn't stop the staff from being quick but friendly with getting their customers situated. I purchased a dozen of donuts of various flavors and honestly it was a great price 17.45. Mind you I even got a few filled donuts such as the key lime and apple filled. No seating in Neil's however that does not take away from how great Neil's Donuts is! Wish I was closer!

These are just really fantastic. My boss brings in 3 dozen of these bad boys (donuts) to our staff lounge every Friday morning. Always look forward to which one I'll be trying each week. Their french crullers are light, airy and perfectly glazed - my favorite. Those powdered jelly filled ones on the other hand will be a heavy bomb to your body and will leave you full all day. Regardless, they are the best around!

All I can say is "Next!" If you are a sinfeld fan you will know. But I'm all honesty what a great place. Even though you move through the line at the speed of lightning you are treated with respect. Friendly staff, great prices and delicious donuts. You have to be crazy to drive by. It is worth a day trip.

Neil's Donuts is an absolute gem! We unfortunately live out of state but if we lived nearby we'd be here all the time. The selection is huge with donuts, breakfast sandwiches, muffins and coffee, and while the lines can be long, they move quickly. Pro tip: check out the menu online ahead of time so you're ready to order. The staff is fantastic--friendly, patient, and efficient, even with the crowd. The donuts themselves are out of this world. My favorite was the honey dipped, while my husband loved the blueberry crumble. Their filled donuts are especially impressive--split in half and packed with a generous amount of filling. Every bite just melts in your mouth. If you're anywhere near Neil's, don't pass this place up. It's worth the trip!

2.2.25 This is one of those long overdue & well deserved reviews. I was here on election day 11.3.20 to try them for the first time. They did not disappoint at all. I was here a half hour before they closed and they were still very fresh. They were just about sold out but the slim pickings were fresh. The staff was very pleasant. This place started picking up and they were about to close. I was surprised to see this. I tried a few different donuts. The apple filled, apple crumb that was also apple filled, powdered jelly & boston cream. All of the donuts were filled plenty with their respective filings which was a delight to see for a change. Fresh, light & fluffy. Quality ingredients. The closer I looked, these donuts look like sandwich. Each that I studied looked like a sandwich filled with yummy goodness. It looks like they construct it as a sandwich which is kind of cool & different. The look of the place inside and out is a no frills plain generic look to it. Nothing wrong with that at all. Just saying. I don't need a place to look good. I only need a clean establishment with great food. I've been back here too many times to count since my first endeavor on an epic election day in 2020. They're doing everything right here. No problems at all. They keep you coming back for more.

stopped at Neil's Donuts before work this morning and i can't believe how busy it was so early in the morning! The staff is so quick and efficient and the whole place smells like sweets galore (as it should). Not only are the donuts are amazing, but all the donuts are packed with flavors and their toppings and yet so light and fluffy! And only $2 a donut? Most places would charge almost $4 for these types of donuts! Wherever you are in Connecticut, it is truly worth the trip!

10 stars if I could!! You can tell the food is real and not from a freezer! Coffee was on POINT!! I will come here time and time again for donuts and coffee!! DEEElicious! I didn't physically go in to Neil's but was granted with a dizzying array of choices that were quite delicious. The donuts are cut & stuffed instead of filled. Quite different from what I'm used to but all of the flavors were on point. Highly recommended. But my favorite had to be the Cinnamon Roll. HUGE! It was buttery, soft, gooey & Cinnamony. What can you say about Neil's but sinful. The donuts are a million times better than the standard donuts you get at the chains. They are filled to the rim with jellies and creams. They have some great flavors. Some of our favorites are coconut cream, powdered jelly, apple pie. If you are planning a trip to Neil's make sure you get there early. If you go anytime after 9am there will be slim pickings. I have never had anything other than donuts at Neil's but I hear great things about their breakfast sandwiches as well. Definitely a great donut shop!! read more

I stopped by here around 11AM yesterday to try some of their donuts. I got the plain cruller, jelly donut and boston cream donut and I planned on getting a chocolate cruller but they had ran out (guess I should have went earlier). The boston cream was nothing special to me, the cruller was very good and the jelly donut was one of the best jelly donuts I ever tasted. It was soft like you would expect with a slightly crispy outside and full of flavor. The jelly donut alone is enough to make me return here again which I will do someday and at an earlier time so I get everything I want because once they are out of a certain donut they're out until the next day. read more

Ive only had their donuts but DAMN are they good. This is coming from someone that doesn't even have much liking for donuts in general. I usually get the chocolate frosted. Stick it in the microwave for 10 seconds and it taste like it came right out of a carnival!!! Soo good!! read more

The hugh cinnamon buns are my favorite.... top it off with the iced coffee and you have heaven. I've also had one of their breakfast sandwichs which was also very good. It does get very very busy but the girls up front really try to keep the lines moving. read more

This place is deadly. Their donuts are the best I've ever had. Doesn't even matter which one you choose: jelly, glazed, chocolate...mmmm. Breakfast sandwiches are mediocre at best. Stick with what they're known for: the donuts. read more

Driving through CT and needed a pitstop and cup of coffee. While looking for a nearby Dunkin we drove past Neils, saw the reviews and crowd and decided to give it a go. Pleasant surprise off the highway that will likely be a regular pitstop in the future anytime we drive through! read more

First time here and I will most definitely be coming back. Breakfast sandwich, boston cream, chocolate frosted and coffee were all amazing. Service was friendly to boot. Only down side is the limited seating- these donuts are way too good to hold off on devouring them. And the act of shoving any type of food in my mouth in the car always makes me feel like I'm a caged animal on display. read more

We were in the area and happened upon this gem. Friendly, fast service, regardless of how long the line is! Remarkable donuts, muffins, breakfast sandwiches and coffee. Boys liked the chocolate sprinkle donut the best. We asked for the bacon on the egg sandwiches extra crispy and they delivered. I hope we end up in that area again so we can go back! read more

Great donuts, I hate dunkin donuts, and the whole corporate cookie cutter garbage that we have chose to accept in America. This is a small hole in the wall donut shop that makes delicious donuts and pastries. Perfectly fried on the outside and soft and fresh on the inside, and seemingly twice the size of a D&D wannabe donut. read more

Neil's is a Wallingford staple and worth the long line you are likely to encounter. You really can't go wrong with anything here, but some highlights for me are all of the donuts and an egg sandwich on an everything bagels. I used to live across the street and miss being that close, but still make the slightly longer trip from South Meriden as it's still the best place for a quick breakfast. read more

Once you have had a Neil's donut, you are ruined. Dunkin' Donuts will never satisfy you again. I highly recommend their HUGE cinnamon sugar donuts. The center is the best best best part!!! Some other faves of mine are the jelly donuts and the sprinkle donuts. If you haven't tried Neil's yet, then you should make a special trip. It's the best!! read more

Pure bliss in donut form. Neil ditched his sales job to open this tiny store that is never empty. The blueberry crumb donut is a personal favorite, but any one of the many flavors rock. I also recently tried their breakfast sandwiches. They put two eggs and plenty of meat, and these too are extremely affordable. DO NOT miss this pastry heaven. read more

No joke....literally the best donut I have EVER eaten. They have a huge variety to choose from. Not only do they have donut they have incredible breakfast sandwiches and other dessert items. Plus that have constant new seasonal coffee flavors. I respect the fact that they don't except debit or credit it does not impact the line that forms outside their door before they open. Plus the prices are the same as the horrible donut chain places but here you get FRESH. read more

There is absolutely no sane reason to go anywhere else but Neil's if you live within a 40 mile radius. Fortunately I live much closer. This place has the true, delicious donut figured out beautifully. I devoured the apple-filled cinnamon and saved the chocolate cake donut for second breakfast. What a treat! Neil's is AMAZING!!! I've never cared much for donuts but after a coworker brought in an assortment and hesitantly trying a Boston Cream I was sold. They are so fresh and you can taste the quality of the fillings, toppings, and donuts. I've since tried other flavors (which were always delicious) but Boston Creme is something everyone must try! read more

I got the Beachy Bee Iced Latte special, which is a honey vanilla latte with a coconut cold foam and toasted coconut on top (simply divine)! My fiancé got the cappuccino which was made just to his liking, and he's a coffee connoisseur. For food, I had the Bumble, which I highly recommend, with scrambled eggs, subbed with the gluten free sourdough bread (+$2 up-charge) and cheddar instead of American cheese. It's served all day and had so much flavor with that garlic butter, and the seasoned steak. Yum! If you are gluten free like me, you will appreciate that they have the gluten free sourdough bread or a gluten free wrap to substitute with. My partner had the Basic Bee with bacon and thought it was flavorful with light and fluffy scrambled eggs that complimented the bacon well. Ok. So Neil contacted me following my review (which was negative following a visit). Neil took the time to ask what exactly was wrong and offered to not only give me a complimentary doughnut, but also conduct a weight test between his product and DD's. Given his response, I was compelled to give Neil's a second chance. Today, I went to DD and Neil's and bought one Boston Creme from each (I didn't ID my self to anyone at Neil's because o wanted to check for myself). I have to admit, for just a few more pennies, Neil's was far better in size and taste. Neil's had far more cream in his doughnut than DD had in its product. Based on today's experience (and the recommendations from friends) I am sold on Neil's. My first visit? Likely an off day (as we all have). Bottom line, I will indeed go back to Neil's for my doughnuts. read more

Better Donuts you will not find....they actually cut the donut and fill them so the filling goes all the way through and you get some in every bite - fantastic! So many variations you have to go over and over again to taste them all. Always fresh, baked on site & worth waiting in line for. The coffee is also wonderful. I drink decaf and it is very difficult to find a flavored decaf that comes from ground beans and not flavor shots. Neil's has a fantastic Hazelnut/Vanilla Decaf that is just delightful. I should note.....i dont like donuts, i haven't liked donuts in years. I guess it was the 5 years at various dunkins that made me get tired of donuts. That being said, Neil's donuts are out of this world! I don't know why or what he does but i could eat his donuts all day. They are fresh, they aren't hard or plastic tasting. Great donuts, not much more to say. They are taste, fresh, soft. I use to think donut crazy were good donuts, and they're ok but they're very filling and more of a personal cake than a donut.
