He never tried to push us to get the more expensive packages, and he always made us feel at ease about what was going to happen on the actual day. Weddings are not cheap and your photos are definitely something you want to be very careful and selective on who you hire. Neil is your solution and will make the whole wedding photography simple, fun, affordable, professional and happy with the end result. There are lots of choices and people out there in the wedding world. Before meeting Neil, my then fiance and I were baffled on how expensive and outrageous photographers were offering their fees. When we instantly meet Neil he was upfront, kick back, professional and willing to work with us, our personalities (my hubby hates taking pictures) and budget. His prices are fair and his work is good. Personally, if we had more money in our budget, I would have loved to have hired his other photographer who works with him, Tina Saso for our wedding. Her work is also great. If you have the dough to hire two photographers, not only would I recommend it, but I would also recommend hiring Neil and Tina for your big day. Neil was easy to work with from start to finish through the whole process from our first meeting, to emailing back in forth, payment options( cash, check, credit, even Pay Pal and any combination you want to pay with), to the actual big day and from just this last month, proofing our mounted wedding album. Which I highly recommend to purchase in your package. On the actually day Neil did everything we talked about, so helpful through out the day, caught moments and shots that were timeless, even at one point help me calm down when the day got a little overwhelming. : ) Neil is a real, chill, patient and nice person to work with. Book him early too. He's getting more and more popular and in demand with brides and grooms to be. Neil took engagement photos for us in Grand Teton national park. We asked for something with the mountains in it, but day-of were concerned about the weather. Neil communicated with us about this possibility and we worked out a few alternatives. Once we got into the park, the clouds cooperated. It was in January so he brought snowshoes for us and we snowshoed out to Mormon Row to get the iconic shot in front of the barn, shots with the Tetons in the background, and some lovely shots in the aspens. I met with Neil this past weekend to talk about possibly hiring him as our wedding photographer.I got his name from an event coordinator at Chaminade in SC and I was able to look through tons of his work.It is the standard portrait style(not too artistic,if that's what you're looking for) ,but I have to say his prices are extremely affordable.He is also a very laid-back ,easy-going guy and made us feel comfortable immediately and not at all pushy.We will most likely go with him for our wedding. read more

We first met with him in February (he came highly recommended by our venue, Chaminade Resort) and he spent at least 30 minutes talking to us about his work and showing us samples. At that time we weren't sure what our budget would be for photography, so I really appreciated that Neil didn't try to push us to upgrade to the more expensive packages. I recently reached out to Neil in hopes that he would be willing to take some photos for my family. We had a family reunion scheduled to celebrate our parents 50th wedding anniversary as well as their 70th birthdays. I was hesitant at first because I thought to myself, in the Tetons on such late notice, he wont be available! Thankfully, he was and was so willing to accommodate any date or time I chose. That's how I knew this was going to work out well. Throughout our conversations, much to his surprise, that family reunion group entailed 8 adults and 8 children ranging in age from 5m-12yrs. He took the challenge on willingly and did an absolutely fantastic job. He paid very close attention to the details and was overly attentive to what each family was looking for specifically. He did not hesitate to offer opinions or arrangements that would be better suited and did so in a respectful and caring manner that could make you tell he valued his work and the clients opinion. It was clear to see that Neil values family and love with his patience and playfulness with children. At the end of our time, each family took the time to convey their appreciation for his laid back personality and desire to take high quality quick photos that allowed for us to keep the children happy but more importantly the adults! Once the final product was delivered, he was attentive to the clients desires and was willing to make alterations where asked. His work is absolutely fantastic and we couldn't be more please with the end result. It's been 2 years since we've been married and 2.5 years since we had our engagement pictures taken, so I've had a lot of time to think about this. We got married in Yosemite and hired a very reputable, experienced photographer and he did a good job and got some great scenic shots. But, if we had to do it over again - I think we would hire Neil again (maybe in the future for a vowel renewal?) even if we had to pay travel fees. The whole atmosphere of the shoots were different and the outcomes were also very different. Of course we were happy on our wedding day and our pictures reflect that - but they are posed and seem somewhat cold. We had SO MUCH FUN with Neil shooting our engagement photos that I'm sure our wedding photos would have come out much better, truly reflecting our personalities and love for one another - like our engagement photos that we were so happy with. read more

Neil was my photographer for my wedding on 10/10/14 in Capitola. I was blown away with Neil! I truly felt that he went above and beyond what was expected of him. From our first communication through email and phone calls, all the way up until the big day, he showed amazing professionalism. Neil was referred to us by our wedding coordinator, Aurora Smith, from the Dream Inn and we couldn't have asked for anything more with our experience and results! Meeting & communicating with Neil (we live in Burlingame so weekend trips and emails were plentiful) was easy and he spent significant time with us leading up to our wedding day and after. While we weren't overly excited about engagement photos (awkward for us as we don't like staging for photos) but Neil did his best to make us comfortable and we are very happy with the final selection. While we did our shoot the week prior to our wedding, he worked with us to select & print a few to frame for our reception table. As we can access our photos online, we were able to include a few in our slideshow during the reception. The day of our wedding, Neil and his team arrived timely and were great to work with. His assistant, Adriane, met my fiancee and the guys at a nearby rental home where they were getting ready and Neil met us girls in our suite at the DI. Like many brides-to-be, I was not ready when he arrived, I was still getting ready & writing my vows.....and Neil was BEYOND PATIENT with me :) He took the time to get candid still shots throughout the suite (love the one with the tequila bottle and the slice of half eaten pizza!) as well as shots of us getting ready. He stayed with us until it was my time to head down to the beach and from there, the team did an AMAZING job with all of the photos. They captured so much of our moments down at the beach, including individual shots of our guests, and so much of the goings-on that we as the bridal couple miss. We took photos after our ceremony and continued to capture all of our memories so well. They stayed up through the reception to the cake-cutting, where Neil helped me take a breathe as we then realized the cake was not at all what we had ordered and I had a few choice words.....Neil quited me and remimded us to focus on the moment. We also chose to have a video compiled and appreciate the work and money put into it. We knew that photos & the video were not going to come 'cheap' if we wanted to be happy with everything and we couldn't be happier with the final results. We had such an amazing wedding celebration and have our memories in the form of photos & the video that will last forever! Neil did a superb job with our album. I highly recommend having him do an album as we are now 6 months post wedding and the only pics we have printed have been for my Mom. I am STILL going to compile a few hardback books from CostCo, using our CD's from Neil, we couldn't be happier with our album. Neil's creativity and artistry are to be appreciated and we have enjoyed getting to know him over the past year+. We would like to purchase one of his pieces as we have caught up with him during an artshow and his work is too cool! One of these days we will stop by his gallery in Santa Cruz and hope to find something that will be a nice addition to our livingroom.
