Pumpkin loaf

We got there at about 10:30 am and it was packed! Definitely get there early or expect a bit of a wait. That said, the staff did a great job of getting folks moving so tables were constantly opening up. I got the veggie burrito and it SLAPPED oh my god I haven't had a breakfast burrito that good ever. I also got the latte. My wife got the yogurt bowl, pumpkin loaf and a flat white. 10/10 on all fronts.

We ordered the breakfast burritos and they were DELICIOUS! Definitely get the hot sauces on the side they add that extra flavor that is great. Service was excellent and very helpful. It's a small place but very cute with the indoor and outdoor concept. Will definitely be back!

Preface: Got the idea for this cafe from a youtube video titled "48 hours in Lisbon" by TopJaw. I'm here for the first time for 6 days but hey, sometimes I like to live like there's no tomorrow! I took a 10 minute walk from my apartment on a rainy Wednesday morning, and walked into the cafe and immediately felt cozy and sheltered by its warm and clean decor. There is outdoor seating under large umbrellas, but because it was raining off and on, I chose to sit inside to also enjoy their great music selection. I sat down at the wooden table looking out onto the street so I can continue watching the culture pass by. I was greeted by a friendly staff member who highly recommended the breakfast burrito, in which I chose the "meaty" breakfast burrito. I also chose a regular latte to compliment the food. I know it's highly subjective, but the coffee here is good. The burrito was also good and cheesy, and was complimented with a side of salsa and chipotle mayo. Be sure to ask for a small spoon to get some of that tasty chipotle mayo onto the burrito, or else you'll be dipping and dropping your burrito guts!

Neighborhood is a hospitable, 23 seat cafe with excellent coffee and breakfast foods that will make you come back day after day after day. The people who work here work nearly everyday and they are very welcoming. They will remember your order from yesterday. They will ask if they can pet your dog. They will cook you the best breakfast burrito that you've had in ages. The avocado toast is as good as it looks too. The cafe is filled with many healthy plants and wood surfaces. They serve beer and wine. They ask that customers only use laptops at a few designated tables, I believe, because it preserves the social aspect and general ambience of the cafe. Therefore, I see this cafe as more of a "catch up with friends over coffee" type of cafe as opposed to a "sit alone and work on your computer for 3 hours" type of cafe. I had several, very positive experiences at this cafe. I think it lives up to its name. I recommend it wholeheartedly!

Delicious food and friendly service. I had the jalapeño avocado toast and it was perfectly done. The freshly squeezed orange juice is out of this world, you must get it!

Manteigaria - Pasteis de nata

What makes it special is watching the pastries being handmade right in front of you, which adds a level of freshness and craftsmanship that you can actually taste. The service was super fast and friendly. The pastel de nata came out perfectly, with that delicate flaky crust and warm custard that just hits differently when you know it was made moments ago. The espresso was equally impressive, rich and smooth, and the two together make for a simple but near perfect combination. If you are in the area, this is an easy and very satisfying stop.

The crust was super flaky and the tart was nice and warm out of the oven, but I didn't like the flavor of the custard. I did forget to add cinnamon to the top, but I don't think it would have helped me personally. The woman who stood next to me at the counter had a nearly orgasmic experience next to me, so it's obvious that my taste buds are apparently off. I loved the patience of the server, who got confused when I told her I wanted to eat in but wanted to take water to go. Note to self...Portuguese folks want to have their "to go" as "takeaway." What I also didn't know was that there was no place to sit!! I scooted down the counter just like all the other folks to watch the bakers prep the next gozillion pastries for the day. That was interesting. Then, I didn't know how to bus my dishes. I just left them on the counter like all the other folks and went away. I wouldn't skip going because of my personal taste buds, though. Enjoy it for yourself and let me know if you have a different opinion than I did!

This was the best, family run, local restaurant we've encounter on our 3 week honeymoon trip. The…read moreowners, Cristina and Antonio, went above and beyond in serving us. From the moment we were seated, Cristina took her time in welcoming us and explaining every item on the menu. We got extremely lucky in beating the dinner rush and submitting our orders in. The subsequent groups who came in were simply turned away or quoted at least an hr wait. Even with full house, our foods came in a reasonable time. With her recommendation, we went with seafood bake for 2 and BBQ pork in 4 diff cuts (we wanted to try a little bit of everything). The seafood bake was beyond amazing - there were literally 4 diff types of WHOLE fish (cod, salmon, bass?, can't tell the last one), along with dozen of fresh shrimp with shells still on and clams! The pot felt bottomless with seafood. It took us literally an hr just to power through this dish. The seafood bake's sauce was so yummy that my husband started throwing in his side potato to soak up the flavor. Towards the end, he straight up spooned and drank it. The bbq pork was so juicy and flavorful! My husband really enjoyed the bacon cut - fatty yet crispy. The side salad was so refreshing with its light, house made dressing. Honestly, we couldn't be any happier with our dinner! Too bad we were so stuffed that we didn't get to try their desserts. What an incredible meal! Amazing food and heartwarming service - Cristina even took the time to come by our table to check and chat with us during dinner rush - we couldn't ask for more. Price was a steal especially for how much food we got - around 50 Euros. Would definitely return if we ever revisit Lisbon!

After wandering around -- really and truly -- the streets of Lisbon looking for a restaurant that…read morehad vegetarian options or non-shellfish or cod fish options, we landed at Madragoa Cafe. We were peeking at the menu outside when the owner, Christina, ushered us in and assured us she'd prepare something to our liking. She did not disappoint. We each started with a drink; my colleague had a beer and I had a red wine. We shared a cheese appetizer and olive appetizer. The cheese was very...fragrant?...but seriously delicious and creamy. It was served with a side of honey which we both drizzled on our bread with each (admittedly three total for each of us) serving. For our mains, we had fish. I had the salmon, served with stewed vegetables and salad. He had the cod entree. We were both initiated into the clean-plate club, with very little left for rinsing. For dessert we tried the carob mousse (my favorite!) and the chocolate cake (delicious, but the mousse takes the cake -- no pun intended). The waiter, Antonio, was an absolute gem, and treated us to a digestif following our dessert. Having already had two glasses of wine, I should have passed on the digestif, but when in Lisbon, you do as Antonio tells you. I had the most fantastic evening with Christina and her crew, and upon future visits to Lisbon I will make it a must to visit again.
