Excellent, authentic, wonderful! I sat at the bar at Negroni Bar, and my only regret is that I didn't have more people with me to try everything they ordered, in addition to what I ordered. The food was excellent. I had the Bruchetta, which tasted fresh and the Luinguini Al Tartufo, which was slightly creamy, not overly heavy, and a perfect balance with fresh shaved black truffle. I squeezed in room for the Gateau au Chocolat, and I'm really glad I did. If you like a cocktail that's not too sweet, and also tropical, the Caribbean Milk (I'm 90% sure that's what it's called) is reaallly good. The bartender was very helpful with suggestions, and once the bar started to get busier, the owner came and made drinks from the well and served half the bar through the busy, dinner rush. Great food and friendly service will bring me back there next time I'm in Munich for sure. read more

What a great find only 15 minutes walk from our hotel (Residence Inn East). If you want to escape the tourist-laden center city and have had your fill of beer gardens...this is a place you want to visit. Especially if you're lucky enough to sit at the bar on a night when Michael is tending bar. He's an artist. No, seriously. I watched him make drinks for a couple of hours and he treats each drink like it's a unique painting. We did the obligatory Negroni's and they were good. Then I asked him what his favorite bourbon drink was and he said the Old Fashioned. Hey,...that's mine too. So Old Fashioned it is, with Elijah Wood small batch bourbon. Simple, but made with such care and finesse it was just spectacular. This is a really great neighborhood bar/restaurant in a quiet residential area. You have to be looking for it to find it but the reward is so worth it. We had some appetizers (hummus and antipasto) that were good. Exactly what I was expecting from a neighborhood bar. Not 5-star place level, but not why we were there. Will definitely go back before we leave town and are crossing our fingers that Michael is working the bar. read more

#39 meraviglioso e romantico--Loved it! Such delicious cuisine and a beautifully decorated atmosphere. We were hungry later in the evening after the Fußball game and wanted something special. My S.O. found Negroni Bar and said they were open until 3am--and the food looked amazing--plus I could order adult beverages there--I was getting pretty tired of beer after days at the Oktoberfest. #winwin We were greeted upon arrival and led to a lovely little table. I asked if English menus were available, but they were not; however, the server spoke English and helped me make selections--much of the menu was Italian. We ordered wine and also a vodka martini to enjoy while making our selections. We began with a magnificent plate of hummus, capers and thinly sliced meats. We were offered bread as well. The hummus on the dish was so very delicious. I've never tasted anything quite like it. My partner ate all the carpaccio, of which he commented it was "to die for." For the second course I chose the cheese plate. It was such a delicacy. Cow, sheep and goat cheeses and side of bread as accompaniment. The cheese was absolutely perfect. For the third course, he opted for a mushroom pasta dish with truffle. I took only two bites of his dish (I was getting #uberfull) but it was divine. Heavy, but divine. By the end of our meal we were both so full that dessert was out of the question. I did have a liquid dessert ;) as we toasted to a wonderful meal and good memory making. We came for drinks after our waitress recommended the place, and we had a really good time. The drinks were all really good and the service was outstanding. They said no substitutions for some of the drinks on the menu, but it is easy to make a custom order or find something, considering the vast number of options available. read more

I've heard all the hype about this place, so I was happy to have finally made it to here to find out whether it's worth the hype. To my surprise, Negroni Bar is bigger than most bars in the city. It could pass as a restaurant (and I saw that they do serve some small dishes). There are many tables/chairs in this place, and I would say it can probably fit 50 people quite comfortably. It played jazz music when we went but not too loudly, so it was a good place for us to sit and talk with each other. The service could have been slightly better. We came without reservations on a Saturday night, and the staff was accommodating to give us a table. However, when we asked one of the servers about some of the liqueurs or recommendations, we got very short answers that did not answer our questions. Oh well, perhaps it's best to stick with what you know. The drink menu is extensive, and for the cocktail lovers, this is the place to go. Lots of interesting/adventurous drinks to try aside from their eponymous libation, which we had to have and was solid in my opinion. We also tried their "Coffee Shop Martini," which, I suppose, was inspired by coffee shops (fyi, it's not about coffee). Made of Jenever, Broker's Gin, Coca Liqueur, and Green Tabasco with a cucunci as garnish, this drink reminded me of coffee shops but tasted nothing like it. I appreciated the novelty of the drink, but it was too much spice for my taste. So is it worth the hype? I would say it is but probably a bit more than it deserves. read more

They're well made, quite the variety to choose from, simply delicious. I'm docking a point for their waitstaff: they're slow. Really, slow. "Happiness is a Dry Martini and a good woman..., or a bad woman." - George Burns - So I knew the night would be fun when I sat down at the table for girl's night out and this quote was on the cocktail menu! Posh setting but still very comfortable - perfect for ladies looking for a little fun! So many (140+) cocktails, so little time! I can't remember the names of each drink I tried, but each one was beautifully presented and well mixed. One that stands out was a concoction that was in a little silver cup which tasted so harmless - like lemonade with a mint twist - but it packed a wallop! We had a reservation for a table but for my next visit - I think I'd like to try to sit at the bar - beautiful with candelabras and real flames. Really cast a nice glow to the entire bar. Food was not the best I had in Munich for my visit, but the drinks made up for it. The tuna salad was particularly disappointing so avoid that - unless you like canned tuna-fish (ew!). read more

THE WORST! I had the worst experience I have ever had at a restaurant/bar at Negroni Bar this past Saturday. I called this location 4 hours before my visit and spoke to someone at Negroni Bar. I asked two simple questions: Me: Could I have a dinner reservation for two at 10PM? (Made sure to explain it would be late at night). Response: We always have seating at that time so no reservation is needed. Me: Do you accept Visa credit card? Response: Yes, we do. We arrive at and the place is packed. They only have one table left... We quickly order two drinks to start and proceed to look through the menu and notice it's only cocktails. We ask the server for the dinner menu and he responds: "Oh, we are not serving food tonight. Our chef is out on holiday." Dumbfounded, we are trying to understand how the employee on the phone would not have mentioned that when we called ahead for a dinner reservation! We explain that we called ahead of time specifically for dinner and no one had mentioned that there was no dinner available. The server apologized and offered us cheese for dinner... We told the server that we would need the check in order to go somewhere else to eat as we had not eaten. I presented my Visa card to him, to which he said, "We have a 50 Euro minimum for credit cards." I did not carry any cash on me and my two drinks came out to 18 Euro. I explained that I did not have any cash and that debit/credit was my only payment. He patronizingly said even though the minimum for debit was over 25 Euro, he would do us a favor. Given how late in the night it was by the time we got out, we were unable to reach other sit down restaurants in time. We had to go to a Turkish doner fast food restaurant to eat. Message to management: When someone calls ahead for a reservation, take down their reservation instead of assuming it won't be busy! When someone calls ahead for dinner and your kitchen is closed, explain that dinner is not available! When someone asks to pay by credit card, explain that you require a minimum amount spent! UNACCEPTABLE! read more

My favourite cocktail bar in Munich, and dedicated to Italy's favourite cocktail (it isn't aperol spritz). There's a whole page in the menu dedicated to variations of the main theme, the standard Negroni. Food is very good too and service very nice and friendly. Music is low and it's a great place for a quiet chat with your friends. It's a little corner of Italy bang in one of the nicest neighbourhoods in Munich. read more

A really great bar. The cocktail menu was fascinating. You need to visit the bar many times to decide which one's the best cocktail. A good thing was that they used fresh lime juice etc. In their cocktails and not store bought sugary syrups. Most cocktails were quite potent and not just fill of sugar and ice. 1 star less for having very less eating options. Just wished of they had more starters to choose from. Drinks: Whenever the owner Michele makes the drinks, they turn out very good. Very consistent quality. I visited this bar when a friend recommended this place. The bar is located at a corner and can therefore easily be found. The cocktail offering is BIG! We asked the barkeeper to surprise us and he made two delicious cocktails! The Gin Tonic we had afterwards also was perfectly made, also providing a large amount of different Gins. All the way. I came in expecting to sit alone and read, have a few "just OK" cocktails, and call it a night early. Yeah...I ended up having some fantastic cocktails, chatting with several other patrons, and staying out till 4am. This is the guy who is used to very high quality cocktails like those served at Single Barrel in San Jose and Bourbon and Branch in San Francisco. The food is average - filling and will definitely take the edge off of your cocktails if you've not had the presence of mind to eat before, but the experience and the cocktails are what you need to come here for. It's also been here at least 9 years, if I recall, so it's got quite a bit of staying power. K, 4:30am local time, and going to bed now. read more

Fantastic craft cocktails, and especially abundant varieties of the negroni from which to choose. Fanciful names - a friend ordered a drink called "the horse's ass," which is hilarious. Rich, dimly-lit wooden bar inside, with outdoor seating as well. Would have stayed here all night drinking Boulevardiers and all sorts of other great drinks, but we had a booking at Vinaiolo, which is not to be missed. I will definitely have drinks at Negroni Bar every time I stay in this part of Munich. read more

This place is super cute. Upon entering, you feel like you are in an old fashioned New York bar back in the Mad Men era. Nice atmosphere. They have a small food menu and a very extensive drinks and cocktail menu. Everything in the food menu here is done extremely well, perfectly cooked and sauced pastas, fresh and vibrant antipasti and fantastic dessert. The BEST bar I have ever been to. The bartender Michele (Michael) is the best I have ever seen, such precision and care for each drink he prepares. I was also hungry but they had stopped serving food. He brought out little snacks for me just because! I had a coffee liquor drink first and gave him free reign to create the next one. just thinking about things we miss in San Francisco, and one thing is the cocktails. (beer is so ... filling!). Negroni is a good venue for cocktailing - low lights, chill music, dark wood,comfortable seating, and polite, professional service. i prefer classic cocktails (manhattan, sazerac, and of course Negroni!) and these are very well done here. nice ice cubes too (makes a big difference). have a before dinner cocktail here before moving on to your favorite Haidhausen restaurant! read more
