We bought a bottle of this to take home and I overheard them telling a customer about recipes on their website, so I'll have to look a few up. We also tried the maple-coffee liqueur which had a stronger flavor than their other products. The couple next to us really enjoyed this but for us, we'll stick with the other three. We didn't taste the maple shine or their maple bourbon (I'm not actually sure if it's bourbon, but we've gone through a bottle drinking it neat and it's very good), since we've had these two before. Atmosphere- they had a big fan but it was hot in there, no AC. There's a few comfy seats and room to stand at the bar. The wooden bar itself is beautiful and the decor is nice too. The guy working was extremely knowledgable and helpful as we were not familiar with the maple syrup process and what they're making is different than the other distilleries that have opened the past couple of years in Buffalo. Tried the mapleshine and the aged rum spirit. Unique taste to both but very good and both had a bite in their pure form. The highlight were the mixed drinks that were made with homemade simple syrups - this cut the bite a little and brought out the maple flavor. If visiting Niagara on the Lake which is only 15/20 mins from Lincoln/St. Catherine's Jordan and downtown Niagara come out and support the locals and CLEAN made spirits. I get an email that basically states "Sorry for the delay, I refunded your shipping, it will go out Friday thing Monday morning.". (Huh?! Oof). Again, no tracking number, no contact, no product. I emailed again to ask for a tracking number. No response. It's a month later, and no product. I call again, get a lady who says she will talk to Daniel and call me back. To her credit, she calls me back that day. She says it will be sent Monday, with express shipping, and I should have it by Wednesday. (Ontario to Alberta - doubtful). I ask her to send me a tracking number and she says she will personally call me on Monday with it. Well, you can guess what happened at this point. No call, no email, no product. Now I'm REALLY fed up (like I said, I'm patient, but over a month of getting the run around has finally worn it thin), and why won't the guy in charge even bother to speak with me?! I call back, speak with her again, she says they had three packages returned to them and mine was among them. That makes no sense at all to me, I'd sure like to see what the (non-existent) tracking said on all three of those. She says Daniel will sort it out. NOTHING. We're now into February. I call back, speak to the first gentleman again, he assures me that Daniel will contact me. Righhhht. I wait another week before one more phone call that went unanswered during business hours - they probably have call display. LOL. My next call was to Visa to dispute the charge. The next day I get an email with a short apology stating that he will refund me. No explanation as to why they haven't sent it. Over a week later, on Feb.13th, I finally received a refund. I don't even know if he provided it, or if Visa did... My bet is on Visa. What a joke of a business. Get your act together!

I chose the cocktail making class, and I was highly pleased with the 45min session. The presentation was fun and informative. I like the fact the majority of the ingredients used to make the 3 cocktails are sourced at the Winery/Distillery itself. The cocktails do change every 6 months, so what you may see on their Yelp page maybe different than what you may make. After the class you receive the recipes for the 3 drinks as well as a coupon to be used towards your purchases at their store.

He was professional AND endearing. He was always engaged in what we thought of each stop, and his relationship with the people at the breweries/distilleries/wineries seemed genuine. And whether it was him or just the smaller size, It honestly felt like we were treated better, being a part of Rich's group, then being in a group of 50 coming off a tour bus.   The stops were all great. I had some reservations about a few, but was honestly able to find something I loved at each location. Not to mention, the price is extremely competitive with all of the other tours I was researching. The van we were in was even fancy and brand new. If you're looking for something just a little different than your standard wine tour, I cannot recommend them enough.

In fact, Fabio, the owner, used to distill his product out of SOV before opening up the distillery in June. At the moment, Woods Spirit Co. produces gin and amaro, although they will soon launch a limoncello. Also opening up soon will be a tasting room and lounge, once all the red tape with the city is sorted out. I had the opportunity to visit Woods Spirit Co. tonight as part of a Yelp event (see my previous review for details), and I'm thrilled to have discovered this local distillery. I can't wait to come back once their lounge is open. I had the privilege of trying their products, and they were tasty! Another thing to note is their gender neutral washrooms were excellent. Clean, with all the necessities you need (such as a hook for your purse). The lights in the washrooms were activated by motion sensors, so environmentally friendly too! The tour is semi short but very informative. I learned a few things I did not know about how to make Canadian whiskey. Also found out they make numerous other products I never knew they made. Overall the shortness of the tour was made up with the info. The free tasting at the end was nice. I got to try some higher end products I would not have bought a whole bottle without trying. Btw... buy a bottle of the bbq sauce. Sounds stupid but you won't regret it.
