We have become huge fans of the Turkish lokantas which are essentially canteen or buffet style restaurants. There are many options of dishes to try and since the portions are smaller than a menu entree, you can try several dishes especially if you're sharing with someone.
You first grab a tray, walk down the line of food and ask the person behind the counter for whatever it is you'd like. You can also grab salads, drinks and desserts as you head down towards the cashier, then pay for the number of portions you've gotten (not by the kilo). The food options are many, from vegetarian items to protein dishes, soups, rice, etc. They also bake their own bread, which is awesome, and you can enjoy as much of it as you'd like since after baking it's placed inside a breadbox at every table. Needless to say the bread was amazing (it's the type of bread you'd get with iskender) and you could easily devour several pieces of bread in one sitting.
The restaurant also serves items from a menu if you'd prefer that. The ambiance is super casual, the food is so delicious and the prices are reasonable for Bodrum. The staff is really attentive, they helped us take our trays to our table, provided us with some wet naps and were all-around just very nice. Do give them a try if you're in Bodrum and tired of overpaying for mediocre food. read more
