In my opinion, Michael Floyd is a scam artist and should be avoided at all cost…read more On August 31, 2024, my wife and I hired Mr. Floyd to make repairs to our refrigerator, because the ice maker wasn't working. After looking things over, he informed us that its motor would need to be replaced, and quoted us a fee of $568.31 for parts and labor. He also quoted a fee of $227.18 for parts and labor to fix an issue with the refrigerator door. While he was here, we made payment to him, via Venmo, for him to resolve both of these issues. Because it was Saturday, and the following Monday was Labor Day, he told us he would order the parts on Tuesday and then schedule a time with us to complete the agreed-upon repairs. He further stated that he expected it to take 7 to 10 days for the parts to be delivered. Shortly after he left, my wife looked in the freezer and realized that the ice maker had been unplugged. After she plugged it in, it immediately started working. At this point, we suspected that Mr. Floyd had been able to repair the ice maker by making some sort of minor adjustment that didn't, in fact, require a replacement part. Rather, we figured, he likely made up the need for a replacement part so he could charge us a lot more money than he could otherwise justify, and that he unplugged the ice maker so he could come back and "fix" it by simply plugging it back in. Within a couple of hours of his having left our house, I reached out to Mr. Floyd to tell him that the ice maker was now working and that we wouldn't be needing the "replacement part" for the ice maker. He then changed his story, saying he had, in fact already ordered and paid for the part (rather than waiting until Tuesday), and that he would have to wait for the part to come in and then return it before he could issue us a refund. To this review, I've attached screen shots of the seven attempts we made via text to get Mr. Floyd to refund the money he owed us and promised to return. They can summarized as follows: 1. September 4th- We ask about the return of the motor so we can receive our refund. He responds that it's being "processed now." 2. September 19th- We again ask about the refund. No response. 3. September 22nd- We again ask about the refund. He responds, "Sorry. I'll send the refund this week," and goes on to say that "they love to take money but hate to give it back," and that the part for the door is on order; he'll let us know when he has more info. 4. September 26th- We again ask about the refund. No response. 5. October 6th- We again ask about the refund. No response. 6. October 12th- We again ask about the refund. No response. 7. October 21st- We again ask about the refund. No response. At this point, Mr. Floyd had made no effort to refund the money we paid him, or to repair the refrigerator door. Realizing we wouldn't be able to resolve this matter amicably, I reached out to our civil attorney. After discussion, on November 5th, he sent Mr. Floyd a demand letter, alleging fraud as well as violations of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act, and demanding payment of the monies owed to me, as well as attorney's fees. At this point, Mr. Floyd became responsive. He agreed to pay the amount he owed us, along with attorney's fees on a certain date. However, he later contacted my attorney, asking if he could pay most of what he owed on a certain date, with the balance due at a later time. To date, he still hasn't repaid the entire amount to which he agreed. The balance he owes is minimal. However, in my opinion, he again demonstrates his continued willingness to engage in dishonest behavior. There are numerous hard-working, honest appliance repairmen who are deserving of your business. Hire one of them instead!

Although the responses were quick, the repair man that was sent out didn't actually fix our fridge…read moreafter stating it was working. The fridge needed the refrigerant refilled as we've had it for a while. When I reached back out, I was informed the repairman would be back "asap". They never came back. Seem's like an issue with the employee, but this was our experience nonetheless. At the end, the owner told me call his repair guy myself(?). I've attached the text messages between the owner and I below. The repair was $189, but they only take cash, so it ended up being a $200 loss. Wish we could at least be refunded for this big waste of time.
