You know, this facility is fantastic, no doubt about it. There are multiple rooms with all kinds of…read moredifferent steaming & heating & bathing options, some of them pretty surreal, but all in top form. The pool was packed out with parents & toddlers doing swim class the whole time I was there, so I didn't get to swim, unfortunately.
But listen, here's the deal. There's definitely a 'bath culture' in effect in Germany, & people bring a big rucksack of stuff like bathrobes, extra hand towels for sitting on, fancy sandals, etc. I showed up with just a regular towel & swimtrunks & it was clear I didn't know what was up.
Also it slowly dawned on me that I represented the sum total of body hair & tattoos in the entire building, & after only chill positive experiences at spa & bath facilities on the West Coast, clothed & otherwise, I started to catch some serious hateful vibes from the well-heeled Germans around me, culminating in this one couple making a huge production of washing off the bench where I'd just been sitting.
At that point I left, & wandered off premises into this ridiculous shopping district for affluent white people, & suddenly it all made sense. So in short, if you're the right kind of person, this place will be great. Also it might be helpful to know that they don't accept Visa. CR
