I used to go to a local massage school in Los Angeles because it was affordable and I could usually get convenient appointments. I hadn't had a massage in a pretty long time, and never in Iowa City. I was very, very surprised! Melicia Sissel was professional and she really listened to me, my body, and gave me suggestions about what I could do for some foot pain that I was having. The massage was one of the better ones that I've had. She was spot-on with the pressure, and adjusted it when I asked her for more. I'm definitely going back!

On or about the 1st of January I came down with the wonderful covid-19 pneumonia. By the time I…read morerealized what was happening it was almost to late. I was in such bad shape that the doctors at the hospital in Waukon, Ia. didn't have much hope that I would survive. My son got me transferred to the VA Hospital in Iowa City. I spent 15 days under the care of the Gold team of Docters and nurses in ICU. Needless to say I am home and doing very well thanks to the team that took care of me. Covid-19 pneumonia is the most deadly part of the virus. I have a copy of the cat scan of my lungs to prove that I was next to death. I came home on 3 liters of oxygen and am now down to 2 liters. Hopefully in another month or two I will be free of it and able to maintain a healthy oxygen level. I sure hope that someone at the VA Hospital reads this and will pass my thanks and gratitude to the Gold team that saved my live. Any Veterans reading this, if you need help this is the place to go. Many thumbs up.

The new social worker just shut me down telling me…read morethat I had had too many cancellations in a short period of time and that her housekeepers weren't getting paid and that they didn't want me back. I had communicated to all the staff and administration that I had just died and was turning into an adult, therefore super sick. I honestly thought they were a reputable nursing association that cared about people, not a corporate cleaning business. I was really hurt by the phone call. Now that I look back it's probably for the better. Most of the housekeepers just come in and throw your cleaning supplies around for a half hour and leave. I don't recommend the VNA to anybody that seriously needs help with their household and is a dependant adult.

Every time I saw Dr. Hitch on he said WALK, walk, walk. I don't think he understood that I can barely stand and used a Walker. The pain was so bad I begged to DIE. She's so wonderful with the children, she's very thorough and never rushed. She's always willing to listen to our concerns and answer as many questions as we have. We love Dr. Goldenstein. Before I requested a change in doctors, however, we saw Dr. Boysen and I have to say he's the worst doctor I've ever seen in my life. Not only is he rude and preoccupied, he doesn't seem very confident in his decisions, either. The incident that made me request a change is when I took my 3 year old son in for a sensitive reason. I told Dr. Boyson I just wanted him to look at and so he did. But then, without telling my son or I anything, he did a procedure on my son that was extremely painful for him. My son started crying and Dr. Boysen acted annoyed with my son's reaction and left the room. I was completely disturbed by Dr. Boysen's actions and said I would never see him again. What made matters worse is that my son was completely confused by what had happened and didn't understand why the Dr. had "hurt his privates" and remembers the experience to this day (he's now 7.) I have told many people about this incident and the ones that have had experiences with Dr. Boysen have all shared my opinion of him. He's not a good doctor and I recommend you see anyone BUT him. I've seen all the other doctor's at Ped. Associates at one time or another, and they've all been great.
