We spent time on each one looking for seashells, building sand castles, and swimming/floating in the water. The kids had a blast!! We saw multiple dolphins and manatees. Captain Rob was a joy to be around. He was professional, fun, good with the kids, and knowledgable about the local area and wildlife. He had life jackets for the kids, and provided waters and sunscreen. We packed sandwiches and had a picnic on one of the islands. Being on the water gives a completely different perspective than you get from the beach. The water is so clear and beautiful and warm! This was the highlight of our trip and we cannot wait to go back!

What an absolutely beautiful park with stunning views!…read more I had the pleasure of visiting here during a February weekend, and it is very clean, refreshing and peaceful. A lot of different birds to see and it's great for a walk or bike ride. We loved walking here during the Safety Harbor BDR (race) and took our time to enjoy the views. I have visited several times and every time it is gorgeous on the way in and out. Appreciate the varied places to stop, rest and take photos too.

This is one of the most beautiful parks in Florida. A must see for any visitors to the area. Plenty…read moreof areas to accommodate a party of five or fifty. There are shaded tables and grills throughout the park. Wonderful trails for walking, jogging, dog walking, or just casual strolls. Multiple playgrounds for kids. Huge old trees throughout, many draped in Spanish Moss, offer spectacular vistas to see and photograph. Multiple areas for recreation such as volleyball, baseball/softball, fishing, and canoeing. We have enjoyed this park for over 30 years and have attended multiple company functions and family gatherings. The Indian Mound is paved and offers a glimpse into the past. Informational markers all along the way. Roads are paved (and 15 mph), easily traversed by car, bike, or walking. Almost every area offers scenic views of the northern tip of Tampa Bay waters. Something new to me was a series of rocks that I first thought maybe a rock garden, but closer examination revealed a series of climbing rocks for kids. It's a great place, wonderfully maintained. Plane to spend an hour or more enjoying it, with friends or family, or alone. Peaceful....

If I lived nearby I'd keep it that way because this Hillsborough county park was an unexpected find that I thought was a beaut. At first glance, a small parking lot, playground and pavilion isn't much. However, once on the hiking trail a nice boardwalk with benches goes over a large lake. I used a trail guide from a QR code that led me to a Hillsborough park website to help me navigate because most signs in the park are colored posts and colors on trees indicating the path the hiker is on. I didn't see any signs indicating where paths went or their distance once at the park When I visited Lake Dan Preserve, I went straight (over the bridge/boardwalk) and took the second left (the red trail) and a few feet down is a picturesque lake that would make a great back drop for photos or an amazing place to relax by a small pond. Turn right and go down the yellow trail and you can hike into neighbouring Lake Francis Preserve. I choose to vear off and hike the connecting blue trail. The blue trail goes down a gravel road into several large open pastures. I must've said this is gorgeous 15 times. A short time later the trail turns as the back side of Trinity starts to come into view in the distance. As the path continues, it leads to Lake Dan and a fishing pier. It's basically a shorter version of the park's entrance bridge looking out a vibrant and large lake. Birds, fish and some cows mooing in the distance makes the pier a nice place to relax. Although, I can't imagine hiking that distance to find it crowded. When I visited Lake Dan my car was the only one in the parking lot and I didn't see another person inside the park. I plan on visiting this preserve again as I thought some it's views we're nice enough to be back drops in movie scenes. It's wide open spaces and lack of people inside made it's trails an excellent place to enjoy a peaceful hike.

Absolutely loved this island!…read more I have an annual pass for state parks so I didn't have to get into honeymoon island itself. A short drive to the paying booth for taking the ferry from honeymoon to caladesi. It is $20 dollars but they do take military discount too! The two guys on the boat are very funny guys. The captain loves to tell dad jokes and the other tells you fun facts about the islands. It's a short ride to caladesi. Once we arrived there was lots to explore however my friend and I just had a beach day. There is construction going on due to the past hurricanes but there is bathrooms, a cafe, and plenty of shade and trails! I can't wait to go back and explore more. The ferry takes off from honeymoon every hour and from caladesi every half hour. Highly recommend a day trip here!! Water is so nice.

For a small fee you can take the ferry there and back and you are able to bring coolers, umbrellas, beach chairs or whatever you might need for a relaxing day at the beach. They do have a small snack bar to get burgers and things like that and there is also a small store to buy essentials such as sunscreen. If you're looking for a pristine, clean not overcrowded beach where you can get some beautiful seashells then this is the place for you!
