Came here for a nice walk with some views. All the smaller parking lots along the A498 were full,…read moreso we parked at the Craflwyn National Trust carpark. Did cost a small fee, but it's a safe spot with some shade. Also with some free toilets. From there we walked to Llyn Dinas and then along the southern shore and back again. From the parking lot to the lake it takes a while. And there's no shade....and it was an unusual hot summer day (maybe not so unusual in the future sadly), so it was pretty exhausting. No steep climb or anything...just the burning sun. The path to the lake gets really narrow sometimes and isn't well taken care of. But this is only until you reach Llyn Dinas. From there the path along the southern shore is very nice, well taken care of and mostly flat. Some sections through some woods, giving a nice break from the hot sun. Nice little beach at the southwestern end, but also other options to take a dip in the lake. It doesn't offer that amazing views over the valley, but provides some nice lake views, which is also nice. Our Bulldog isn't a big fan of heat, so we had our pet stroller with. A bit rough along the way, but it was manageable. So a baby stroller would be possible as well to bring here if you got some good wheels. Not the greatest walk in the area, but a pleasant one. And not too busy, that was a nice change.

Just across the street the trail starts which will lead you to this pretty little lake and around the western and southern shore. Then the trail continues into the woods, away from the lake. It's a very pretty trail, fairly flat and suitable for baby/pet strollers. The views of the valley are amazing and the lake is a nice sight. Some visitors doing some picnics or even taking a dip into the water. There are some benches on the way as well as some ruins from the former quarry just by the lake. It's all so green and pretty. The surrounding mountains are a stunning sight. You walk along the lake with sheep and cattle on their fields. It's quiet and relaxing. Not too many visitors. And if you're hungry and thirsty, there's a nice pub just there in Rhyd Ddu, no need to repark, a 5' walk from the carpark.

A beautiful lake to visit when in north Wales and somewhere we've been several times. It's four…read moremiles long and one mile wide (the largest lake in Wales in fact) and near to the little town of Bala which is close to its northern end. It's a great lake for watersports of all kinds and kayaks and yachts can be hired locally. It's also a protected wildlife site; there are many species of fish which live in the depths of the lake, including a fish called a gwyniad which is no longer found anywhere else in the UK! The Bala Lake Railway is a narrow gauge steam railway which travels around the eastern banks of the lake. The primary station is at Llanuwchllyn at the southern end and the trip takes about an hour. A marvellous area for walking too.

Lots of hikers on the trail to the summit At the base of the mountain you'll find a small movie theatre which shows a 15 minute movie about the train's history. There are also bathrooms, souvenir and sandwich shops. Steam train takes an hour to get to the top. You stay at the summit for half an hour and then begin your return. The views are breath taking. The experience is a MUST.

Snowdonia is a beautiful are of North Wales concentrated around the mountains and lakes of the huge…read moreSnowdonia National Park.  The park's historic Snowdon Mountain Railway climbs to the summit of Wales's highest mountain, Mount Snowdon, offering views across the sea to Ireland and back along the North Wales coast. Popular tourist areas have breathtaking scenery, easy parking and brilliant dog walking spots. Tourist towns such as Betwys Y coed offer great cafe's and extensive well thought out mountain biking trails. I suggest hiring an electric mountain bike to make the most of the scenery in any weather. Driving around Snowdonia is great fun. Taking a long drive up any of the mountain passes is always great fun. For any car enthusiast driving the Evo triangle route can be very memorable. Dog walking around Llandudno in the North with the Great Orme, Pier and other popular tourists attractions is great. A trip through blaenau ffestiniog via the slate mines down onto the Black Rock Sands beach is always good. The beach is open to cars meaning you can drive onto the sand, just don't get stuck! Further down the Llŷn Peninsula Abersoch is worth a visit, especially during summer high season for a surprisingly high end mix of shops, cafes and pubs.

Some walks can be quite difficult. It can be more climbing than walking. The weather is always a big challenge! No huts like in Austria or elsewhere where you can sit and enjoy a nice drink or have a warm cup of tea (do not mention a meal) on the mountains. This is not typical here. There's a restaurant, a small shop, tourist information and a public toilet on site. We travelled with our English Bulldog, so we took the easier "Miner's Track" and headed towards Llyn Teyrn and then Llyn Llydaw. There weren't many visitors that day and made our small hike a very quiet and peacefull affair. The views, even on a cloudy, foggy day, are spectacular. Coming around the bend and seeing the smaller Llyn Teyrn is just beautiful. And then the bigger Llyn Llydaw. There's wildlife to be spotted as well. And just the breathtaking nature to take in. The trail is pretty easy, it's never really steep and pretty wide for a hiking trail. Our Bulldog managed just fine. Even in summer it was pretty cool, weather can change quickly. T-Shirt, jacket and raincoat. All was needed withing a few hours. We didn't go all the way up to Snowdon - but you could. But bring enough food and drinks. There isn't really anything along the way. Which is good so. Plenty of places to rest and enjoy the scenery on the way. If you don't mind to sit on the rocks and/or grass. We certainly didn't mind. It's a very rewarding place to walk and hike. And the Miner's Track is really suitable for any walkers. We really enjoyed our time here. Another highlight of this years Road Trip through the UK. We will definitely be back.

The staff were friendly, helpful and experienced. The safety talk to begin with was both informative and fun. The equipment was well maintained and of a good standard. We were on the water for just over 2 hours which was excellent value for money. Warning be prepared to get bumps and scrapes and very wet!
