alot better than it use to be…read more creswell leisure centere is now so much better than it use to be! a whole new complex and its fantastic. a lovely pool and even better they do swimming lessons too! i cant wait to get my baby girl sorted.we have found the best times to go swimming is the saturday morning session or pretty much anytime sunday. The prices are great , weekends are just £1 how good is that. its a lovely clean place and only a short distance from where i live so fab for me and my little girl.

The edge has historic associations with, somewhat incongruously, mining and wizardry, but these days it's a great place to go for a walk with either the kids, the dog, visitors or even a solitary stroll. There are car parks at both the foot of the edge and the top (the latter is the main one) giving the option of a quick trip to the edge itself and back or a longer, more demanding up-and-down walk.

It is quite a large shop, well organised with a full range of rods and fishing tackle a far cry from my butterfly net I used to use when I was a child. I popped in to have a mooch around, not because I believe that I will catch the largest pike in Britain and have my photo with aforementioned pike plastered across all the broadsheets, but because my god-son has expressed an interest in fishing and I thought I would check this very British past-time out. Colin Leatherbarrow, owner and expert regarded me with an expression of bemusement as I tottered to the counter in my four inch stilettos and asked him to show me a rod.... oh dear. With slightly twitching lips he told me to bring the god-son in and he could talk him through what he will need to get started. He sells and makes carp and specialist rods from £125, fly rods from £150 and there are so many different types and specifications that my head began to hurt. My mind drifted away from rods and my gaze fell on a stuffed framed fish on the wall which gave the shop a fishy authenticity. By this time I was far too embarrassed to ask Colin if this was one of his catches but well done if it was because this was a monster! Perhaps this shop is a little too advanced for my god-son and should be left for the more experienced angler to visit. Maybe I should dig out my butterfly net and give it to him after all.

The almost pink sand, the amazing weather (in the summer), beach volleyball and dark and stormies (ginger beer with rum) make the perfect mix to make your holiday the one of a lifetime. Getting around is most easy with a moped that can be rented at many places and after a 20 minute introduction, pretty much anyone can ride one! Make sure you get on one of the wreck snorkeling trips and explore the world of wrecks and fish 4 miles off the coast of Bermuda! Another nice detail: Bermuda does not inhabitate any poisonous animals or large spiders... so you can wonder around the island without fearing being bitten. Most people play with the thought of moving to Bermuda after only one day of being there so make sure you are working in the banking and insurance industry (re-insurance is Bermuda's biggest business) or the NHS (yes, Bermuda is still a British Colony) and you won't be disappointed. I will definetely re-think my choice of career....

A fantastic municipal sports centre, Ponds Forge is a centre with a reputation for excellent…read morestandards and is always modernising something to keep itself up to date. With one of the only public 50m swimming pools in the country, it is used by swimmers up to professional level and the diving pool is currently being used to train olympic hopefuls who travel from all over the UK to train there. In keeping with it's public ethos there is also a separate fun leisure pool with flumes and waves and plenty of classes and activities for adults and children. In addition to the pools, there's also a huge, well-equipped gym and studios for a variety of exercise classes. The centre is very clean and welcoming and the temperatures are really good throughout. The monthly membership also gives you access to 3 other Sheffield venues including the Don Valley running track and is exceptionally good value. You can also pay as you go. Events are regularly held at the centre including international swim meets and there's a conference centre available for hire with catering for corps.

This means the gym has been moved from the main entrance creating a spacious lobby and some seating. The new gym has all the facilities you would expect, with new changing rooms which are a little warm. There are more machinery and more space in the gym allowing more people to work out at a time. There swimming pools are still the same and is a good place to do some lane swimming as long as there are no event on which writes off most weekends which is a shame. The classes are good and the instructors are really motivated and friendly. The centre has a car park which does charge but also has really small parking spaces, there is some street parking but is time limited to an hour not much use. When it becomes free parking in the evenings its really busy and could struggle to get parked. The price of membership is not too bad and does give access to more then one gym as they have a few other centres within the city. It is cheaper to join for a 12 months. Also there isn't a joining fee like some gyms have.

The husband and wife team that run the venue offer a very friendly personal service offering parties for groups of children or individuals alike. They offer the whole package for birthday parties food drink infact everything! The worry and hastle is taken out of trying to organise a kids party. They offer Bumper parties where all drink food ect is included and whilst the kids are out there having fun the adults can sit inside or out and enjoy some of the lovely homecooked food privided by the friendly staff. Safety is paramount at the centre and full training is given to the kids before they embark on there quad biking experience and bikes are customised to suit the individual child. We really are…read moreblessed / spoiled over in the south of the city when it comes to parks - there seems to be one every few hundred yards - from large, countryside-equse open spaces like Warley Woods and the Lickeys, to ornate urban parks like Cannon Hill Park. This place is a little of both - the large open space that dominates it provides a lovely respite from the bustle of Harborne, and the gardens that border it are well kept and a legacy of the park's Victorian roots. A great little park - much recommended!

Queens Park is one of Birmingham's best parks in my opinion, its very secluded and not very known…read moreabout and all the better for it! We don't have many great outdoor spaces in Harborne so its a great place for young children, teenagers and adults too. Its has a great open large space, people come here to play football, tennis (has 2 tennis courts), basketball (has a basketball court). Has a playground area for young children. Very popular with dog walkers, joggers and cyclists. Ive been here day and night and never had any trouble, the gardens are well kept and very pretty in every season. There is 2 car parks available on site which is free, space available for disabled vehicles too. A great little park!
