We've been going to National Karate in Apple Valley for about a year and a half, and we absolutely love it. Mr. Albertson is amazing,so good with the kids and a great instructor. National Karate Schools - Karate Near Me - Apple Valley, Minnesota

There is a reason real Kung Fu schools call places like National Karate "McDojos" because there are low quality franchises that lack substance. I went to this particular National Karate in Apple Valley when I was younger and it taught me nothing but failure and resentment. Not to mention the huge tuition and cost of gear, they love to upsell you on winning dreams of tournament trophies and cheering fans like in the Karate Kid movies promising you can win if you just do your best. Well I did my best only to realize they put me up against serious advanced level kids doing crazy flips while landing into the splits with an uppercut nut punch which may have may not been their best performance however my basic level form was spot on the most passionate and hardest attempt at anything I had ever done thus far in my life at the point. Favoritism seemed to also play a huge part to help expedite you way into black belt status as well. I could probably still kick that kids ass irl but at least he has a black belt and I know real Kung Fu. National Karate did not teach me how to defend myself nor did I gain any confidence or self-respect or discipline. The stuff they teach doesn't even make sense and your child will probably just get beat up more for being such a lame karate dork. But at least my Karate instructor drove a cool red convertible. This guy was a grade A dbag and I would totally call him out but I forgot his name however I know first letter of last name is V. Then Mr. V accused me of stealing stuff from the locker room and insisted on watching me change every day until my dad let me quit. I never stole anything from the locker room. I never stole anything. Even though this was in the 90's it's still the same company and Mr. V can fight me today if he wants to. read more

After my divorce both of my boys were very angry. Expressing their feelings was no problem. Arguing, hitting one another, verbal abuse, skipping school. I decided it was time to focus their energies in a positive way. Building their self esteem, and character. Mr Albertson,Sexton & Quinn helped them understand the meaning of respect. They provided a positive male role model they couldn't get from their dad. I was told by the boys their dad hit & yelled at them abusively while I was at work. Life doesn't always give you what you want. However, I know National Karate helped me produce 2 productive citizens. One an EMT instructor who lives in Montana & I see frequently.The second a Captain in the US Army, who is married and has two children. Living in Louisiana last time I talked to his Uncle. We haven't spoke since 2004, but I know he continues to live the values learned at National Karate. He is a member of our military and will be for life. Just like his 2 grandfathers. So Mr. Albertson, Sexton, Quinn thank-you I'll be forever grateful for the positive impact you have had on MY live and that of my children and theirs as they will carry it on. read more
