Everything seems to be restored to its original style and looks, and the history of the house is covered well, and it is nice that they point out that the kitchen was attached to the house. Clothes from the time frame the house was built and dresses from the current balls they have. It was all quite lovely.

My husband and I were wanting to take the 2pm tour and did our homework on the cost of the tour prior to our arrival. It was $15/person. As we arrived to the gift shop, we were looked upon with disdain by the cashier-tour guide. Stating she was already cleaning her cash register. My husband hadn't really noticed her behavior toward us yet and said that since we were there, we'd tour it. At that point she said the tour was $20 NOT $15 per person. We were still going to tour it but were shy $3 from the total. She literally just looked at us!! Waiting for us to leave!! A zero rating for her inhospitable attitude. Magnolia Hall, I hope you read this review and make employee adjustments.

Sunnyside Bed & Breakfast (Natchez, MS)…read more We came out for a night of desserts and music during the spring pilgrimage so I can't speak on the bed and breakfast aspect. The owners were super friendly. The environment was inviting. And don't get me started on how good the desserts were. I heard a lot of people bragging on how good the breakfast was here too! "Rev. William Hamilton Watkins (1815-1881) built Sunnyside as a parsonage in the 1850s. When the Union troops were camped close, a Union soldier by the name of Jones became friends with the Watkins family. Watkins' daughter, Hattie, fell in love with him. Jones was nearby when Confederates came to Watkins for assistance. They ask if he would contribute to the Confederacy. Watkins agreed. His oldest son was fighting in the war, and he hoped that some of his contributions would get to his son. Jones, however, reported Watkins to the Union Army, Watkins was arrested and charged with treason. During his trial, the commandant told Watkins that the crimes for which he was charged are punishable by death. Watkins replied, "I know nothing of the laws of war, only the gospel of God." Watkins' bail was set at $10,000, which is equivalent to about $188,755.21 in 2023. Because he only made $1,100 a year (about $20,763.07 in 2023), he could not come up with the money. He remained incarcerated until the end of 1865. Once released, he went on to minister in Jackson, Vicksburg, Woodville, and other places."

This carried into our room more profoundly. Additionally it appears they cleaned the surfaces of the furniture with the wrong cleaning products which left an oily residue. Carpet also smelled funny.

Walked in and there was dirt, food, stains, dust and grime over everything. There is no way anyone ran a vacuum here. Then I found poop stains on the bedding-my husband took pics as proof. There was blood stains on the bed my daughter was going to sleep in. We couldn't do it-so we asked for another room. Was given a room on floor 2. The key didn't worked-was told that the room had a broken lock. Was then moved back to floor 4, the room directly Nextdoor to the initial dirty one. Was told that housekeeping just finished cleaning it. This one wasn't much better. Bedding stained, floors were atrocious, mysterious stains on the sofa and chairs. The ice bucket appeared to have dark smudge stains on it. The drawer handles were sticky, did not want to know what that was. We didn't stay long enough to shower and quite frankly-I didn't want to step foot into the shower anyway judging from the amount of mold and hair in there. Needless to say-we all kept our socks and slippers on. We throughly checked the beds for any signs of bedbugs as that is always a worry, thankfully we didn't see any (I bring travel spray anyway to be safe). Unfortunately my daughter did spot a small spider on her bedding in which made for a pretty bad night with trying to settle down a panicked child. The water took FOREVER to heat up and the pressure was awful. Breakfast was free, but in all honesty, I didn't want to stay in the hotel any longer nor eat the food. We got up as early as we could and checked out. We expressed our concerns and showed pics of the poopy blankets in which the desk clerk giggled and never even made eye contact as if he had heard this before and knew. Wow. DO NOT STAY HERE. We should have just slept in our vehicle.
