The owner conducting business here has to be one of the most unprofessional mechanics I've ever come across. Recently, I was having transmission issues with my vehicle. I normally handle my car issues through my family, but since they live so far away, and seeing as my Stepfather told me that what I needed was just a minor repair, I thought I would try a mechanic here in Glendale -- first mistake. I didn't contact the Better Business Bureau prior to coming to this place -- second mistake. Rather than going into a lenghthy and utmost ugly review about this company, I have to say that I was told that part would be ready at three different times over the period of 24 hours. I wasn't notified. I had to contact them for the status of my car. Finally after the last time he said the part would arrive, I walked to the shop. He told me that the part the dealership sent was the wrong part and that he had one of his own mechanics go collect the correct part. He said it would take an hour and that I could comfortably wait. An hour passes and then he tells me that he needs to order the correct part now (what about the story about his mechanic picking the part up?) from the dealership. He offers me the option of taking my car and dropping it off again when the part arrives tomorrow. I ask him what time. He goes back on the phone and after a 15 minute wait he informs me that the part will arrive at either 10 or 11 in the morning. I ask him if he will contact me. He says yes. Now, I have my car and waiting for him to contact me when the part arrives. I will most likely have to contact him for another runaround. read more

Can´t speak for Jm. H one star review either his paranoia is getting the best of him or there was some miscommunication with Mike. I usually entrust three different mechanics (2 Glendale, 1 Alhambra) with car inspection, price point and execution. Bear in mind, location can significantly effect the repair cost since these business pay rent. And Glendale rent isn´t cheap. Nash Auto Service came recommended through a friend of a friend when my Nissan Maxima started having mechanical issues. Mike´s shop is often busy but he´ll be patient and help you out. His pricing can be equal or a little higher than the other mechanics I use. But if you´re a savvy consumer you call around to price hunt. Then make a calculated decision based on toll truck extra mile fees, time, convenience and your budget. Nonetheless, Nash Auto Service has been my 2nd go to auto repair shop especially since I reside in Glendale. The close proximity makes a difference for emergency repair. Mike will work with you if price is an issue and if your car is literally falling apart. His advice with my non-stop engine oil leak was to privately sell the vehicle. It was becoming a money pit each year with a laundry list of repairs. From replacing the axle, alternator, value front/ rear gasket, O2 and knock sensor, catalyst converter, new tires, etc. My attachment to my first car was becoming a love and hate relationship. It was time to let go and Mike literally saved me a huge financial loss (salvage yard), when he discovered my engine didn´t have a blown head gasket ($$$$). One of the fuel injector went bad and the very next day the Maxima was drivable, thanks to Mike´s problem solving intuition. Fearing another problem will re-surface I sold the car within a week. His advice how to handle the DMV paper work was re-assuring. Not too long ago, I recommended Mike to a friend who drives a VW GTI whose check engine light was on, after making a last minute repair on a Saturday afternoon. Mike showed him the defective part to explain what went wrong. Mike is an Honest straight mechanic, who truly diagnoses issues, and charges you fairly. He originally from the East Coast...easy to talk to and straight to the point.. After going to him for almost 10 years I can say that he is always looking after your safety. Recently my Nissan developed a combination pinging and sometimes the engine would turn off. Very honest and professional. What else could you ask for? I have taken my car to him several times now and every time I had a problem he found the source of it and fixed it, this includes Evap system leaks, 4wd issues, and lots of suspension work. When I first got my vehicle I was told by different mechanics that I needed to change all the control arm bushings and I was lucky enough to get to call Mike before doing anything and he took a look at it and told me exactly which bushings need to be changed and gave me a price quote that was very fair. I wouldn't normally take my car to a dealership, but it had to go in for a recall and figured I might as well have them check out a funny sound while it was there. They said my rack and pinion needed to be replaced and it would cost me $1,500. I called a bunch of places to see if I could get the work done for less and one of the places I called was Nash. He said 1. he could do it for about half the price, and 2. he was almost positive it was not my rack and pinion based on the symptoms I described. I took it in, drove around the block with him and he said it's not your rack and pinion, it's your sway bar and it would only cost you $150 to fix. Half a day later I had my car back and running perfectly. I couldn't be more pleased. If I'd stayed with the dealership I would have paid $1,350 more and it wouldn't have fixed the problem. read more

I called last week when my car wouldn't start and spoke with Mike...he gave me a quote based upon what the tow driver felt was wrong with my car...so I had the car towed to Nash Auto Repair today and expecting the $180.00 bill and to my surprise Mike called to say that my starter and battery were fine..the problem was the connection he fixed it and instead of having to pay $180.00 it was only $90.00...i appreciate it when a business acts ethically...they could have just charged me for the new starter but they didn't....I highly recommend this place....my former mechanic had to close down his business it is awesome to know I have found my new mechanic. Unlike Bob's experience, I found Nash Auto Service to be a great repair shop with fast and friendly service. It's extremely unfair for Bob to imply that Nash Auto Service has an unfavorable rating with the Better Business Bureau. Though, Nash Auto Service does not have an 'A+' rating at the moment, they are listed as an "A" category rated business with only one complaint, which seems to have been addressed by the owner. The BBB states as follows, "Our complaint history for this company shows that the one complaint brought to the company's attention was responded to and given proper consideration". Luckily, I didn't have transmission problems, but If that had been the case I would have sought out a shop that specializes in transmission work. Why do I say this? Transmission work can be extremely complex and is considered a part of automotive repair that some mechanic shops do specialize in. Most mechanic shops will readily admit that they only diagnose and maintain transmissions, because of the complexity, parts, time and labor involved in fixing them. After reading Bob's complaint, it seemed to me that perhaps he had tried to cut corners in order to pay less for his repairs. It's risky to have a family member mechanic diagnose a transmission problem when that person cannot physically be there to assess the situation. It's a bit like speaking to your family general practitioner about a serious medical condition over the phone. Of course your family doctor 'can' help you, but for a serious health condition, you really should schedule an appointment to see a doctor who specializes in your type of illness. Mike, the owner was knowledgeable about what I needed for repairs and had no difficulty obtaining the parts necessary to do the work. He was fast, efficient and because I took the time to shop around, I know the price he charged me for the repair work was fair and honest. I will be taking my car back to Nash Auto Service whenever I have a problem and, furthermore, I will be recommending Mike to friends and family. read more

Mike the owner was very honest about what my Mitsubishi needed, the dealership quoted me $6,500 for repairs, Mike fixed the car with an oil switch costing $60 and said that's all it needed, basic math you can figure out the savings! It's been over a month and car is running fine, I continue to go there for oil change and regular maintenance. Originally I was new to the area and simply needed my AC unit serviced for the upcoming summer months. I always do comprehensive research on any vendor before doing business and Nash Auto came up highly recommended through various sites. After speaking with Mike (Nash), he made me feel confident in taking my car in by stating that if there is nothing that needs to be repaired/changed/etc. he wouldn't charge me anything...which in my opinion is the way it should be! The coolant had to be changed out and the price was well below other quotes I received by other establishments. Since my first visit to Nash Auto, it's been roughly about 2yrs and I've taken my vehicle in to him a number of times for different reasons...most minuscule but a few hefty repairs.
