We loved working with Narcissus for our late December elopement. Their floral arrangements were absolutlystunning, and they delivered them straight to our door that morning by a very kind staff member. As we were marrying from out of the country, the ease with which we were able to get our florals chosen and delivered was invaluable. They are fairly priced, organized and have a real eye for color and texture. For the color schemes, we chose an "Islay" bridal bouquet and "Iona" buttonholes, combs and bridespeople bouquets. I discovered Narcissus Flowers on Instagram when choosing vendors for my wedding. I immediately was blown away by the beauty of their work- it's like no florist I've ever seen in the US. I love that they are a local small business and every time I see a post from them I immediately get "heart eyes." I wish I could visit their shop in person because it looks breathtaking, and I'd also love to take some of their beginning classes in floristry. Fiona was our florist for our wedding, and I will mostly just let the photos of her work speak for themselves. Absolutely breathtaking. I requested a colorful bouquet with a lot of texture, scottish thistle boutonnieres, lantern centerpieces, and a beautiful flower shop style setting for our ceremony. Fiona delivered and then some. I think flowers in the UK are just better and of more variety than in the US, and the eye for floral artistry is just infinitely better. I showed Fiona a photo of a tropical bouquet (my original wedding was tropical.. it's a long story) that was my dream bouquet. It had a lot of color and some beautiful trailing ribbons. Fiona ordered the most amazing hand-dyed silk ribbons from Heirloom Silk Ribbons.. they added such a wonderful boho touch to my bouquet, and made the bouquet just that much more special. I personally have an obsession with attention to detail, and Fiona's attention to detail was just so incredible. To top it off, there was a mishap with the original geometric terrariums she had planned to use for my centerpiece, and while I was completely fine with the suggested changes, she went over the top and made even larger, more extravagant centerpieces for me to make up for it. Oh my gosh.. they were just so stunning. I originally was going to go minimal on the flowers because they can be so expensive, but I found even these high end florals from Narcissus to be so affordable and absolutely worth every penny. My husband was skeptical, as a man who doesn't fully understand the draw of flowers.. but when he saw what Narcissus created for us, he knew that every detail and every penny was absolutely worth it and then some. I think in the US, flowers such as these would have been 2 or 3 times the price, and would have come along with some pretty rude service. I cannot recommend Narcissus flowers highly enough. Stunning is the best word I can use to describe Narcissus. They are truly a one-of-a-kind shop, and when I see what they are posting it instantly makes me feel good. That's what flowers should be- they of course don't last forever, but that feeling they give you when you are admiring their beauty is absolutely worth it. Blokes, if you're going to buy flowers, you'd better make sure they're good ones. Because it usually means that you've done something awful or want something that you know you're probably not likely to get, and so a withered £3 bunch from a petrol station probably isn't going to cut it on either of those counts. Narcissus, on the other hand, could sort you out with the right bouquet although you would have to pay a fair whack for the privilege. When I was meeting a friend in this part of town today I was early and had time to kill, so I popped in here to have a nosey, and there's no denying that their stock is gorgeous if a little on the pricey side. But, as L'Oréal so cheesily puts it, we're worth it. read more

I walked past Narcissus Flowers the other day with G-Bot. I saw some gorgeous blooms and potted plants and pleaded with my to get him some. He didn't. That didn't stop me going back in for a look later on as this florists is absolutely beautiful! They have an excellent selection of bouquets, potted plants, hanging baskets and individual flowers. Whether you need a bunch of flowers for a gift or if you're looking for some beauties to brighten up your home then you won't be disappointed by the choice and colours on offer here at Narcissus. This is one of those "4.5 but rounding" up reviews. They did an absolutely stellar job for our wedding. The main reason I'm adding that caveat is because Amalia replied to our wedding enquiry and we met with her to discuss what we were looking for but were then transferred to Eileen, who was in charge of wedding arrangements. Amalia and Eileen were both brilliant, and the flowers we received for the wedding were not only ideal for what we were looking for (my fiancee even came on the first appointment with Amalia!) but we received many compliments on our flowers from some very discerning guests. We gave local guests permission to nick the gorgeous centerpieces for their flats ;-P There were a few blips in communication between dealing with Amalia and Eileen. Upon the first appointment with Amalia I freely admitted I didn't know a huge amount about flowers and was aware most flowers at Narcissus were locally and regionally sourced. This sat very well with us because we wanted the wedding to be a celebration of the best of Scotland and we didn't want the waste associated with excessive imports. So we got a pretty good idea of what to expect after the consultation with Amalia, then after it was transferred to Eileen things got a bit muddled along the way. Had to make a few small tweaks with quantities and what we were looking for to have flowers, but it was ironed out very quickly. I had a good idea overall of what we were looking for and Eileen was very responsive, helpful and communicative. For example: ideally I would've like camellias for my hair flowers but Eileen tried her best and let me know well ahead that gardenias would likely be available instead if the hard to source camellias weren't available . She is clearly very knowledgable at reading clients and their wishes and works with top vendors. It would've made the process more seamless if we would've dealt with the same person from the start, especially considering our initial email to them was about wedding flowers. But it ended up being a small blip. The centerpieces, gent's buttonholes, bouquet and grand upstairs arrangements blew us and everyone away. I'll post more flowers once I get the photos back to convey a full idea of their high level of artistry. We chose Narcissus because we were told they were one of the absolute best and we were so happy with their work! Eileen and her team are true artists and were a gorgeous part of a beautiful day. read more

I've received some of the nicest "I'm sorry" flowers in the world from this modest (despite the name) flower shop on Broughton Street. It almost makes me want my boyfriend to continually screw up.. Naricissus was famous for looking at himself in the mirror, when this business charges £7.50 for THREE balloons, I'm surprised they owners can do the same in the morning. I wonder like Naricissus, if these are gifts from the Greek gods? Hopefully at that price, they'll be able to predict the future and never burst, maybe even feed the third world? I admire the blooms they stock here from afar, as being the owner of a mental cat there really is no point as she'll either scoff them on sight or repeatedly knock over the vase. However I love a quirky cacti or succulent and can always find room for one of their more interesting looking specimens. Place smells amazing, staff are lovely and I'm a sucker for my purchases being tied up in some brown paper and string. read more

I walk past this florist every day and so it wasn't long before the beautiful flowers outside tempted me in. As flowers go, this is definitely the higher end but in my mind, worth every penny. You wont just get your usual bouquets here, but also more unusual arangements. read more

Wonderful flower arrangements, quite stunning, and remarkable selection of exotic flowers always available. The shop exudes a beautiful ambience infused with a love of the work and is worth visiting just to experience it. While most of the flowers I have bought here have been fresh and good quality (even if a little expensive), the very high prices on flower arrangements are harder to justify. On two occasions my partner has sent me wonderful flower gifts but the blooms didn't last half as long as supermarket flowers at a fraction of the price. They are lovely people at Narcissus and I'm sure they would have been willing to replace them, but to ask that would spoil the value of a gift. read more

They do not even deserve 1 star! Awful, appalling customer service. As in the staff act like what are u doing in a shop? Nasty.. And after trying to buy and enquire about their stock, I quote "we are the most expensive flower shop in Edinburgh" what a thing to boast about along with a snooty attitude! Will never spend another penny there. After seeing a display in their window, it was like pulling teeth asking them to re create it for a Mother's Day present! This was last years Mother's Day but it was every member of staff so it must just be how this shop works! Never again. What a bad attitude for paying customers! Especially when it's over priced tat! read more
