This place is pretty awesome, and as it turns out there is actually more than one cave located in the park (I believe there are something like five, though it was suggested that the caves stretch all the way down to the coast, they are just not connected). Mind you, for most of the caves (in fact all but one), you do need to go on a guided tour, and you pay individually for each of them. However, once you are down there well, you will no doubt be gobsmacked. Oh, and they also have a museum in which there are fossils of creatures found in the caves, and one of the caves you can visit without a guide. One last thing, if you are into spelunking (that is crawling through cave), then you can do that here as well. read more

Get ready to get your geek on folks... it really is fascinating stuff. It was at the Naracoorte caves in 1969 that a silt deposit containing the remains of many tens of thousands of Pleistocene animals was found. The caves are now a world heritage site and are not only historically and scientifically important, but also spectacularly beautiful. The limestone cave system is the most elaborate I have seen in South Australia and they even have a batcave which can be observed between April and August! There are a few different caves to be seen and it costs $15 to $20 per adult, per guided tour of a single cave... I think kids are around $9, but all that info is on their website. Last time I was there I toured the wet cave and loved it! You want to make sure you're steady on your feet and have good knees for this one though. I also hurt myself climbing on the fibreglass diprotodon (giant prehistoric wombat thingy). I suppose it serves me right for showing off. read more
