Stopped here for trivia night since it was close to home. We ordered some appetizers and an entree. We ordered the chili cheese fries, Napoleon burger, fries, and a salad. The fries were cold, soggy, and weirdly stale. They use queso cheese and garnish with pico and lettuce. I don't understand you can mess up chili cheese fries. The burger was dry and tasteless. Service was poor and when we asked for the check it took 15 minutes. Overall, subpar bar food and spotty service. Wouldn't go again. read more

My wife and I decided to go check out napoleons for the first time this past weekend. It was very reasonably priced with excellent service. The venue is pretty upscale laid back atmosphere. People of all kinds fancy and regular joes were attending this place. After going to try it for dinner we found out that they had a concert venue connected to it that you can buy tickets for!? How neat! Dinner and a concert is a perfect thing for any adult couple. I started my evening with a pumpkin spice White Russian and the calamari. The pumpkin spice White Russian was certainly on point and the best part (which was unexpected) was the graham cracker rim! I will definitely be adding this to my White Russians from here on out. The calamari was fried perfectly with a tasty Thai chili sauce to dip it in. For my entree I ordered the grain bowl with salmon. The salmon was a perfectly pan seared portion for one or two people over a creamy bed of brown rice. The tortilla strips over top gave it that little crunch that was needed to tie it all together! Wether ordering to go or eating in house, Napoleon's has been a staple for years now. I have several favorites. Can't ever go wrong with the smoked wings, the queso is deelish, & my new appetizer favorite is the pimento cheese fritters (perfectly fried to a crispy ball of pimento ooze & the cool red pepper jelly is the perfect compliment). Farm salad is always fresh & gives a huge portion. I love to add salmon to it normally but recently did fried chicken instead and it did not disappoint. The fried chicken sandwich, pimento cheese burger, fried green tomato BLT, & salmon BLT are all sandwiches I order and love. Now the Pot Roast, oh the Pot Roast...been ordering this for years. It's the ideal picture of comfort food. Generous portion of the Roast & heaping mound of mashed potatoes melt in your mouth. I recently tried Coconut Ginger Rice Bowl for a lighter fare & WOW! Tons of veggies in a light broth under a delicious jasmine rice cake (which I'd never had anywhere else) & I topped mine with Salmon. Not one flavor overruled the other. I thoroughly enjoyed this dish & had enough for seconds. Awesome beer selection with tons of craft beers & a full bar with great signature drinks. They also have wine but I'm usually making my way down the craft beer selections hehe. John was our server the other night and he knew the menu well, was attentive but not overbearing. He was friendly and accommodating and professional. Thanks John! Tina was the manager on duty & she is always so pleasant, accommodating, professional, hard working but with a cool demeanor setting the tone for a great experience. Decor & vibe is always on point and so clean you could eat off the floors...not that I ever would lol, but one could if that's your sorta thing ;) The Vista Room next door is a beautiful venue, absolutely stunning and is great for private events or seeing some bands do their thing. My favorite nights are when Electric Avenue is there! You're able to feel up close & personal to the bands but also have plenty of room to dance. I've read some of the other reviews & I'll say that every restaurant (& every business for that matter) has hiccups but all in all, I'd recommend Napoleon's for a relaxed environment, good comfort foods, and yummy craft beers! read more

Some of the best hot wings in all of Atlanta - smoked with a dry rub and sauce that are just awesome. The Brussels sprouts are a common go to for me as well as the burgers. Good beer selection. Great place and an extremely friendly atmosphere. Had the wings and did half and half the tub and the house special and I definitely recommend the house special. Bartender was very friendly and really made us feel welcome. They have live music on the weekends and can't wait to check that out. Napoleon's has some of the best food I've ever had. My wife loves it, too, because it has a ton of gluten free options. It is a little more expensive than a lot of restaurants, but the menu items are so creative and delicious that it's definitely worth the price. We go maybe once a month or so, because gets pretty expensive (especially with drinks) but we still love it. read more

Bless this place's heart. It's really nothing more than an OK suburban offering -- definitely not a destination. Bonus points for having a patio (now that we're hitting patio weather!), but neither the patio nor the interior possesses anything resembling ambiance or personality. Its customer base is largely older couples who were super excited by the mediocre cover band. In an ironic twist, it was my whippersnapper friends and I who ended up moving to the patio to escape the cover band's deafening volume. My Thai salad was giant and mediocre, but the wine was affordable, so there's that. read more

Mainstream pub-type fare like burgers and sandwiches, salads, and inventive appetizers; home-cooked entrees like your mama made but with a twist; traditional and funky tacos; and a well-rounded craft beer and wine list. The newly enlarged patio is pleasant (and packed now that the weather is pretty), though it needs a lighting update as the primary illumination the two times I sat there was provided by parking lot lights. Seating inside is comfortable, though dark and somewhat loud when the place is full, mainly because everyone is having a good time. It's not a good place for a quiet conversation. My favorite menu item is the Napoleon's burger, which is a bacon cheeseburger with caramelized onions and comes with a homemade steak sauce so yummy it needs no other condiments. The skinny fries are good but get cold fast. :( I've had several other menu items and enjoyed them all. My only complaint is that the menu changed frequently over the first months of operation, with some items I had really enjoyed dropping off. Oh well. There's still plenty o'goodness left to choose from. read more

So disappointed in the new menu at Napoleons. We used to come here for the solid salads and variety of taco offerings (now they just have fish and shrimp), but the new menu is very limited, and not great. We've also had hit or miss service lately. When Tina is behind the bar, we know we'll be taken care of. I had plans to get together with an old friend to catch-up and have dinner. We decided on Napoleons since we like the food and we both live in the Oak Grove area. Our server was amazing and the food was excellent. Our experience with Napoleons was great until the band started playing. I am not sure what time but I believe it was around 9:15pm on a Saturday evening. The volume level was at a level that I would describe as ridiculous!. It became impossible to communicate even when yelling as loud as possible. I looked around and the people eating their dinners (most tables were occupied) looked very uncomfortable. It was interesting and reminded me of my time spent studying non-verbal communication in college. Nobody was able to talk anymore so they poked at their food and just looked around uncomfortably glancing at the band. Many of them simply paid their bill and left leaving a bunch of empty tables. It was simply deafening and that comment comes from a guy who spent his teens and early twenties playing guitar in a very loud heavy metal band. The band at Napoleons was talented but simply too loud for a venue this small where people are having dinner. WAY TOO LOUD! We waited for a break in the music to talk with our server. She simply could not hear us over the band so we could only communicate between songs. She sent the manager over and he explained that the owner likes it loud and there is nothing he can do. His voice was cracking from having to yell over the band. I could tell he was a good guy and wanted to help. He seemed to be genuinely concerned and offered to buy a round of beers for us. That was very nice but did not help the problem. Dinner was over. We left some uneaten tacos at the table and went outside to drink our beer. We watched for an hour as customers arrived, opened the front door and were startled by a deafening blast of bar band.....they turned and walked away. Some discussed where they could go nearby to eat and have drinks. It was interesting to watch and listen to how many unhappy potential customers approached the front door and then walked away in the hour we sat on the patio. I guess that's what the owner wants. I would go back to Napoleons for the great tacos and excellent service but I will make 100% sure there is no band playing that night. read more

Love the look and feel of Napoleon's. They have done a fantastic job of making a new place feel comfortable. Took my fiancee to dinner and the experience was comfortable, warm and the food was great. Her and I have decidedly different tastes and we were both very happy with the service, the food, and the atmosphere. I highly recommend the mini pot roast. And pre-dinner drinks at the bar are a must. The staff is friendly and very helpful. You won't be disappointed with your time at Napoleon's. Definitely on my list for repeat visits. read more

I have been to Napoleon's many times over the years and I have never been fond of it. Last night, was the final time that I will go there. The service was dismal and I don't know what the problem was with the kitchen after 2+ hours, the food finally arrived and was cold and incorrect. They were not busy so I am not certain what the issue might have been but there are so many other places with better food and service in the neighborhood. I went for the first time last night (Thursday night). There was live music, a good crowd and good service. With that being said, I will not be returning here because the food was mediocre at best. I had the tacos (thai and bbq pork) and my husband had the Korean BBQ sliders. Nothing tasted as expected or as described. Great atmosphere and a loved community favorite, although the menu prices have skyrocketed over the last couple years! I wouldn't mind if I felt the value was equal to the cost, but we were disappointed by our dishes as well. My burger was delicious, although it ended up coming out pretty dry. My boyfriend got the yellow curry bowl, which was beyond lackluster. There were way too many unnecessary ingredients (carrots, garbanzo beans??) and the sauce overpowered the rest of the dish to where it all tasted the same. He added tofu, which was also a regret as the tofu was seasoned independently and created way too much seasoning going on overall!!! Napoleon's is one of my favorite restaurants near work, and they recently did a fantastic job taking care of a visiting group of 20 people, most of whom did not speak English. The servers were on top of everything and handled all my special requests with ease. The food was also terrific: I had the fried green tomato sandwich and seriously wanted to head back the next day for another dose of the southern-i-licious goodness. My friends and I come here to play trivia with Outspoken Entertainment every Wednesday night. The food is always good, no matter what you order, and there is a lot to choose from. The staff is especially accommodating to the large parties that show up on trivia night. The atmosphere is great and has the feel of a real neighborhood gathering spot. The trivia is so much fun and challenging to boot. It is fun to play against the other regulars every week. We should have chosen to sit on the patio! We were greeted nicely and chose to sit inside since there were tons of kids on the patio which is fine but I was sans child for the evening. We sat in a booth inside a very dark restaurant. I like dark but it was still daylight outside so it was bright at the windows enough to not be able to see inside well if that makes sense. Our waitress greeted us with a non energetic "hi I'm ___ ,I'll be taking care of you..." barely a smile I might add. Also we told her that it was our first time here and she was like ... "ok..." errrr I really thought she would have a more helpful and friendly attitude but that's fine. I wanted something for some energy and asked her about the whynatte... and specials of whynatte drinks. The only thing she could tell me in her monotone voice with her barely expressive face was that she "doesn't drink energy drinks but people like them." I thought to myself that she could probably benefit from said energy drink at this point. I ordered a can of whynatte and it was fine. Anyway we were all impressed with the menu, and we ordered the fried green tomatoes appetizer. Then I asked about the calamari, 'cause I love calamari, and they have a basket of calamari and fries so I was excited. I said I like light breading, not too well done and was their calamari like this? she said yes. My friends ordered the fish and chips and the trout with capers and spinach and roasted potatoes. Our fried green tomatoes came out promptly and was delish! Then our entrees came. The food runner had our dishes in front of us promptly and correctly so that's a plus. My basket came and looked like the fried up bits at the bottom of the bag of frozen calamari with a few rings on top. No tentacles, no plump lightly breaded rings with a light colored batter etc. I even said "Are there no tentacle pieces? I only have a few rings." she said customers were freaked out by tentacles and they don't serve them anymore. Huh?? Um, thanks lame customers for ordering calamari and being weirded out by it! I even said " My basket looks like the last little bits of an almost empty bag of calamari breaded bits and fries... I only have like a few fries here.." she said that's how the calamari baskets are. OK..... I told her I would like some more fries then. The fries were super yummy and my friends dishes were great too. I tried my friends trout and it was really tasty. I ate fries and a few of my calamari rings and my still vacant waitress never said much about how inadequate the calamari was compared to her description. I would have even welcomed a suggestion or two from her on what to order! But no. I then got a dark and stormy from the bar which was exactly what the doctor ordered! The drinks were great and most of the food. Our waitress lacked the energy and friendliness that should be a staple in a pub environment. Also they need to be more educated about the menu. All in all I probably would have had a different experience had I sat in another waitresses' section and gotten knowledgeable service. read more

I've been a frequent patron of this restaurant for several years. This past week the owners completely changed their menu and hired a new chef. BIG MISTAKE! I had the salmon BLT. it was extremely dry and flavorless. We had to ask for mayonnaise as a way to give it some flavor and reduce the dryness. The bacon on the sandwich was pretty goo, but all else was a total flop. Also, they eliminated several of their most popular dishes. Their pot roast is gone, as well as their Thai Bowl Salmon dish. They were delicious, extremely popular and they were removed. A SHAME! Folks at my table weren't the only ones disappointed...the table next to us gave negative feedback to the manager, and I noticed several dishes being sent back or not eaten. I'm all for trying new things, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Bring back the other menu and I'll be back. Otherwise, there are much better places where I can spend my hard-earned cash. read more

I have eaten here three times and have had three different entrees. I've had Fried oysters, salad with fried chicken tenders, and chicken salad sandwich. All items have been very good. The food here is some of the best pub food around. Now I know they are calling this place a gastropub, but the definition of gastropub: Gastropub refers to a bar and restaurant that serves high-end beer and food. I guess what I am saying is that the food here is of good quality, but lacks some inventiveness. Maybe I have not tried the right entrée, to fine the gastropub I am looking for. However I am happy to have them in the neighborhood and will frequent this establishment. read more
