Nancy is the best. I can't really say it any more succinctly than that. She's patient, knowledgable, communicative, fun/funny, and an excellent judge of character - all things you need when getting to know the extremely competitive market of a relatively new (to us) area. Santa Fe is a wonderful town going through some growing pains in regards to supply vs demand, and you can get your heart broken more than once if you're not prepared for the competition. Nancy encouraged and guided us through a process that went from uncertain to full steam ahead in a very short span of time. Without giving into using a dartboard, it is hard to select a realtor from a thousand mile away. We had our house in Chicago on the market, impending homelessness, and an urgent need to decide. I found the Yelp reviews telling, and very helpful then, so now add mine. My research quickly found the high rolling agents in town with big sales, but I also noticed their reviewers mentioned other names as their contact person. This signals being handed off to others. Nancy's reviewers only talked of her; she did not delegate. Many of the same reviewers were like me out of state buyers; we have no hands, your agent becomes your arms. I called her; she listens to an out of town take on Santa Fe, my reasoned priorities for selection from one to ten, I am anal. She did not always buy it, did not always understand what I was saying, but she was already in her responses trying to help us prioritize. I got it, she got. Yes, you are the one. Sixty days later we are on the ground, meaning a flight to Santa Fe and weekend to find a house. Downtown, Eldorado, Lamy, and Aldea. When we faltered, she posed questions to force us to think. I knew I was being handled, but we needed it. Decision made, but my dream house was not my wife's dream house, plus we had construction issues. I got to do what I do, making contractors lives difficult. Nancy hung in there, worked with the other agent, brought in outside contractors for 2nd opinions and order of magnitude cost for me to ponder or negotiate with the seller, we moved in, and both love the place. Happy ending but work in the middle. read more

If I could give negative stars, I would. I contacted this real estate agent based on her profile and the area that she claims to specialize in. Immediately through the phone I could feel that she did not have any enthusiasm at all about helping me and she acted like I was annoying her, however I gave her the benefit of the doubt. Without going into super detail, this is how I would summarize my experience with Nancy, which ultimately led to me finding a REALtor. Of note, this encounter was so bad, it motivated me to create an account just to write this review. 1. LOW ENERGY! This woman absolutely refused to provide any suggestions on where to live, homes for sale, or areas best suited for what I am looking for. She even told me to look it up myself and that her specialty is in closing. Clearly she does NOT want to do any work. 2. Brags about high end clients from all over the world, which tells me she must thinks I'm too "low" for her and not worth her energy. Mind you, this woman knows nothing about me. 3. Discriminates: She made a very discriminatory comment which made me feel extremely uncomfortable. 4. No communication what-so-ever. When I called her for a third time to touch base, she angrily screamed at me on the phone demanding that I send her listings that I find. (WTF.... Who does that? So apparently she wants to me to do her job and then get the commission? Can we say LAZY and Unstable?) 5. Unprofessional Strike 3 , 4, and 5 were the final straws that made me stop giving lil ol' Nancy the benefit of the doubt and that was the end of that. Now I've found a wonderful REALtor, who actually does her job, is personable, and will not only win with me when I buy my home, but when I purchase my investment property as well... and not to mention my colleagues who I have also referred to her. I'm typing this review sitting in my favorite chair in my dream home...thanks to Nancy. I never expected to find an agent who was as knowledgeable, practically helpful and completely dependable as Nancy Lewis. Santa Fe is "the city different" in more ways than my husband and I had imagined. There were so many details; water rights, surveys, inspections etc, etc, that had to be in perfect order and Nancy took care of it all. More than once, she saved us from disaster by preemptively cross-checking the minutiae and then making it right if it was less than perfect. Being a real estate agent in Santa Fe is much, MUCH MORE than divining the type of house you need and in which area's you might enjoy living. Nancy understands the history of real estate and building here, and she knew who and what agency or person to call for every need any transactions generated. She was also able to explain details of our home I would otherwise never have known- from building to landscaping (she is a Master Gardner as well). If Nancy said "I'll call you back in 5 minutes/10 minutes/20 minutes", she kept her word with impeccable consistency and called me back exactly when she said she would. We never had to worry. She kept my husband and I completely educated and informed and had the professional foresight to keep us out of potentially disastrous situations that could have popped up at closing. We also ended up buying a house with many complications - a foreclosure we fell in love with that had a long and checkered ownership and rental history- making it a paperwork nightmare. The original listing agent for the house (with another company) never bothered to return our calls and Nancy never let us down. She never missed a step in it all. Nancy was very accommodating on our first Santa Fe fact-finding excursion to determine if retirement real estate there would be a possibility. The city has been high on the probable retirement locations and the time came to begin to look in earnest. Nancy assessed our needs, and drove us to various neighborhoods to see what appealed to us. Although she was fully aware that we would not be buying for 12 to 18 months in the future, she took the time to make us feel like valued clients. We choose Nancy Lewis with Santa Fe Properties as our real estate agent as we began to consider purchasing a home in Santa Fe. Nancy made us feel very taken care of and welcomed us to a new city. She had prepared a full schedule of home visits for us. It was evident from the beginning that she was willing to go above and beyond for us. As luck would have it we found a home and immediately fell in love with it. Real estate transactions are never simple, and Santa Fe is no exception. Coming from out of state and being confronted with a host of unknowns including water rights, adobe architecture, etc, was a little daunting. Nancy made sure that all of our concerns were addressed and resolved. The transaction was made more challenging with the fact that the sellers were two individuals from out of state with limited connectivity. There were a host of issues that needed to be identified, followed up on, and resolved. Nancy took full responsibility for every aspect of the process, working diligently to ensure that every detail was seen to and reported back to us regularly with updates. Nancy's communication is impeccable. Nancy has literally made at least 25 visits to the house coordinating schedules and meeting with the home inspector, well inspector, roof inspector, bank appraiser, septic inspector. She personally delivered water samples to the testing company for us. She was onsite when work was being done to the septic system, roof, and inside the home. She was there when the sellers were moving out and has been out several times since closing helping contractors access the property for work being done. She stayed on top of all aspects of the transaction including recommending escrow companies and mortgage brokers. She helped us avoid pitfalls in dealing with the mortgage company and made sure that all paperwork was properly presented and that the process was moving forward expeditiously. She coordinated the signing of well-sharing agreements and variances with neighbors. The list goes on and on. In short, you will never, ever, find a real estate agent will to work as hard as Nancy, and so willing to invest her full attention and capacity to getting a deal done. There is NO WAY this transaction could have happened without her experience and diligence. Because of her hard work, we are very excited to be moving into our new home in Santa Fe. What a great experience! Nancy never pressured me to spend more money or buy in a certain neighborhood. She took the time to learn what I wanted and then was somehow always available to see homes whenever I wanted.
