If you're wondering if this place is legit... IT IS. In other words, "Do people really get extra jobs from this agency?"... YES I am not an actress (nor do I aspire to be), but I do the 'extra thing' for fun (if 1. they want me and 2. i'm off that day from my real job). I have been called to do 2 projects, both paid around like $200-$400 for the whole day, which isn't bad if yo ass was going to stay at home doing nothing anyways. As a former ad creative director with Bay Area film experience and parent of young actors, I can attest Nancy Hayes Casting is exceptionally skilled, organized and dialed into their client needs. The staff is courteous of talent time and questions; plus, they are phenomenal with child actors of all ages. POTENTIAL CLIENTS: Some of their more recent commercial casting projects include Galbani Cheese & the California Tourism Board. With the more recent sprouting of fly-by-night casting offices throwing big nets, I can't stress enough going with this seasoned group. ACTORS: Much of the staff are stage, film and/or tv professionals well-known for their expertise in their own right. Make sure to attend their workshops and go in to register in their complimentary database (yes, most places use a 3rd party hosting service). Parents, remember to update your child's information regularly but note that most projects will be for adults. P.S. Any delays tend to come from the client end. read more

My kids are sent here a couple of times a month and about 90% of the time, the process is just fine and we are out within 15-20 minutes of their call time. But that other 10% can be maddening. Sometimes there are multiple castings going on so there are a ton of people and different staff operating with varying degrees of organizational success. There have been a few times when we have been 30-60 minutes over our call time and have had to be "those" pushy people to make sure they were not skipped. I suppose it's part of the game and as long as my kids still want to do it, we'll keep at it, but just be prepared to wear your patience pants and don't schedule anything too close to the call time. read more

Checked in at 11:05a for an appointment at 11:15a. Witnessed other people for the same casting get in and out in a promptly fashion until I realized it was 12:10p and I still haven't been called. Having an appointment-only system is kind of useless if you're not going to follow it. Very unprofessional. Nancy and her staff are great folks - the bad review that said they didn't know what they were doing is obviously not someone who has been in the business long. I've sometimes had to wait an hour at Nancy's and at other casting agencies around town- it's par for the course. Usually it's not the casting agent's fault - it's the clients fault. Very very professional and kind staff there. All the people there seem to be friendly and courteous. Although some seem a bit aloof i would say they've just got their business face on but very helpful on the whole. I just went in yesterday to have my photos taken for the free registration casting. I have to say...I was a little worried about going in the mission district after reviews online about gangs and stuff, and i've been there once by bart at 6 pm when it was dark out, and i was pretty much terrified to say the least lol. BUT that is just around the BART station! so don't let this hold u back. the street that hayes casting is on is nice and quiet but there are still a few people around, that aren't druggies and stuff. i'm quite petite so i was scared but i'm so glad i went (i ended up renting a car and going lol so i could turn around if i still didn't like the area.) it was hard to find parking..i was looking for 40 minutes probably and the parking lot on fulsom and 17th was full : [ so i had to look for a meter and finally found like 10 meters that were open. great. lol so that is on 17th pretty close to blackwell flies. the lady took 3 photos i believe and it takes a while to get to ur turn if there are a lot of people, which there were so make sure u put the most money into ur meter so u dont have to go back read more

They are truly wonderful people who are great at what they do, which is networking and contracting with major production companies and clients. Nancy is always professional and pleasant over the phone. She has great communication skills and is quick to answer any questions you have regarding a job. I've been with Nancy Hayes Casting for over ten years now, even before they moved to their Treat St location & would say 50% of the audtions that my agent sends me out on are held here at their offices. I'll usually be in and out in less than an hour. The staff are very professional and efficient. I'm here at least once a month & even popped in today during my lunch break for an audition . They'll hold castings for everything from major motion films, commercials, print work, to you name it. If you're planning to work in the Bay Area, then registration with them is a MUST. read more

parking is so horrible that i can't even explain how horrible it is. the thing about nancy hayes casting agency is that they're full of great people. i've been in some movies, commercials, and almost a television show. i've been in 'kuffs' 'memoirs of an invisible man' with chevy chase and um, i forgot her name for the moment...lol. i've been in final analysis with richard gere, kim basinger, and uma thurman...i was here working with my girlfriend. we were even in a television pilot with the guy who played the cousin bob in la bamba, we actually got that guy hanging out with us and having fun, though the show NEVER hit the air. I also did a commercial. If you want to do extra work for fun. Give this place a try. Got the time give them a shot. read more
