This place is as authentic as you can get as evidenced by my partners thumbs up (he has travelled through South India) and also by the stream of Indian people who frequent the place. And it is cheap, the people are super friendly and although there is no ambience or decor to speak of the dosas take you away on a journey to South India. Masala dosa is a favourite with it's richly aromatic filling and the chai tea is truly the real deal unlike those pathetic bubblegum-like tea bags you can buy in the supermarket. Just go! No, no! Just DONT go! I want it all for myself! Actually maybe if they get even more people then I might convince them to get some signage, business cards and menus done through me (I'm a graphic designer); he, he!

I had the masala chai and it was so good I forgot to take a photo. Easily one of the best I've had in a long time. We also ordered the veg manchurian and the schezwan sizzler. Both dishes were tasty and came out hot and fresh. The sizzler had a nice spicy kick and lots of flavour. For drinks we tried the salted lassi and the mango lassi. Both were amazing and super refreshing.

The…read morereviews were almost unanimously bad or average, but by then I had already planned to go there, and I'm loathe to change plans, so I decided to give it a shot anyway. Those reviews only left me unprepared for a nice meal! It was delicious, as good as any Indian meal I've ever eaten. I ordered a Chicken Tikka Masala, which arrived steaming hot, on a steaming hot plate, radiating the most mouth-watering smell, I nearly drooled all over myself. Next were the garlic naans, which were soft and chewy in all the right proportions. The waiter was adorable. He seemed shy and nervous, while being very attentive and helpful at the same time. He noticed that my date had not ordered any raita with his rice (for he is unschooled in the ways of Indian dining), and offered him some mint chutney for free. Which my date greedily downed, of course, extolling its virtues the whole way through. The chicken was excellent, it was moist, and yielding, and scrumptious. The naans were delicious, and the service was good. The only downside; the rice was a little clumpy. That was a bit of a disappointment, but it wasn't overly unpleasant. All this, for less than $12 each, which I think is a downright steal.

We had a couple of entrees (starters) and took the waitress' advice and only ordered one biryani and naan. She was right. That was enough for the two of us. The food was excellent. The last time we were here there as a really noisy group but this time there were much quieter customers. The noise comes from over the road with the galahs and rosellas etc in the trees around dusk...deafening. No problems with parking as the restaurant is part of a shopping centre. As we left more people arrived for meals and take aways. You will read elsewhere that the place is in the middle of nowhere but if you live in the Hills district it is not that much of a drive. It is not a small restaurant and also has an area sectioned off for a private party. Whilst there appears to have always been an Indian restaurant here the current owners have been here for less than a year.
